Absolutely insane that people are saying stuff like this unironically. Online echo chambers rot peoples brains.
in reply to realcaseyrollins

OR they actually dislike the CEO and don't feel bad about seeing the cumuppance of someone who's decisions while performing their role has caused an increase in suffering and death.

You don't need a gun in your hands to bring death and suffering to those around you. Sometimes all it takes is a pen, callous disregard for others and a desire for self enrichment.

in reply to Sarmyth

...you do know that it's possible to dislike someone without justifying murder, right?
in reply to realcaseyrollins

Of course I do. You know it's possible to justify murder without having a personal dislike of the person?

I'm against institutionalized violence, but I can get behind a victim seeking retribution. The rule of law is not applied evenly, as you can plainly see with the manhunt for this shooting victim vs countless others. Because of that, I don't pretend to be a believer in letting the justice system handle the dispensation of justice solely.

Maybe you should stop viewing it as a murder and start seeing it as mob justice. That wouldn't have to happen if our institutionalized justice system functioned correctly.

in reply to Sarmyth

Nah I'm against mob justice. Sorry not sorry. Violence like this destroys the fabric of society and I'm a fan of society, personally.

I don't think there are situations I can think of where I support offensive killing (ofc I support killing in self defense). I understand it in some cases and am most sympathetic to the murder of racists, but it's still a bad thing to do, esp. if the person hasn't been convicted yet.

I actually would like to see the American justice system enact the old policy from the Bible, where if you're the father or mother or son or whatever of someone who got killed or raped, and that person is found guilty, you get to kill that person yourself. In that case it's not murder, it's part of the sentence.

in reply to realcaseyrollins

You seem to condone murder in quite many cases.

To me it just seems like the justice system is built mostly for protecting the rich and powerful. It's actually odd that mob justice is not more common.

Maybe the justice system could allow killing a CEO after they have caused a certain amount of human life loss? That would be similar to your Bible idea, right? Part of the sentence.

in reply to Hemuphone

Oh yeah killing is fine if it's a sentence for a crime. But I already said that.

Y'all really want me to support the murder of a millionaire huh 😂

in reply to realcaseyrollins

We are just going to disagree on the little details here. It seems you are capable of seeing circumstances where people can have sympathy with the killer if their victim is atrocious enough. We're just quibbling over details now.
in reply to realcaseyrollins

Echo chambers? This has been the most uniting event of the year: I’ve seen conservatives, liberals, ancaps and tankies all share the same opinion for the first time ever. This guy made millions by denying healthcare to people that had rightful claims and he got what he deserved.

Based on what I'm claiming, and the likely outcome of following the lead I suggested, and the fact that I think that that outcome would be optimal,

what do you suppose I'm signaling?

in reply to MushuChupacabra

1) You think the claim that the shooter took the bus is unreliable due to poor sources of the claim

2) You want the killer to get away

Does it work with Synology NAS? Last time I checked it didn't. I'd love to use it.

It's basically 5 steps listed here immich.app/docs/install/docker…

If you're new to docker it will seem like a lot, but they've taken care of most of the work for you already in the docker compose file.

mkdir immich && cd immich

wget -O docker-compose.yml https://github.com/immich-app/immich/releases/latest/download/docker-compose.yml

wget -O .env https://github.com/immich-app/immich/releases/latest/download/example.env

nano .env and change the upload location if needed (by default it will be in the 'immich' directory we're in) and the timezone.

docker compose up -d

Now it's running on http://ip:2283

Then to upgrade later on switch to the 'immich' directory again, do a docker compose pull and docker compose up -d

I'm running it on a DS918+ right now. I copied-pasted their docker-compose file and had it up in half an hour or so.

Israeli soldier was ordered to kill Palestinian holding white flag, says reservist

cross-posted from: lemmy.ml/post/23295016

"The lives of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip depend first and foremost on the private and personal scale of values of the commanders in the Strip," Har-Zahav wrote, adding that any senior officer who orders the killing of Palestinians simply because of their identity will not face consequences.

"A human life in the Gaza Strip is worth less than the lives of the thousands of stray dogs that roam the area looking for food. While there is a clear order prohibiting shooting dogs unless a soldier is in real danger when the dog's jaws are locked on him, humans are permitted to be shot without any real restrictions."

Since i bought my ink tank Brother over a year ago, i still haven't had to refill it. For my previous Canon Pixma it would have been at least 2-3 cartridges. I mean i don't print a lot, but I'm amazed at how much I've been printing with this thing.

Once it runs out, actually Brother original ink doesn't come that much pricier than unbranded, but I'll see my choices.
