Remember kids, a protest without threat of escalation is no protest at all.

They're not winning. They're trying to prevent the worst.

The worst would be getting a bunch more people killed and then still losing

Preventing the complete loss of their sovereignty—essentially preserving their nation in the face of aggression?

..so they should've taken the first peace deal in 2014 before Russia backed the Republics of donetsk and luhansk in their uprising?
in reply to sexy_peach

No one can ever guarantee anything, but Russia wouldn't fuck with them if there's an actual deal and they abide by it instead of violating it.

Ukraine made some mistakes under the Minsk Agreements, like delaying certain implementations and occasional ceasefire breaches, but these were often reactions to continued attacks. The larger issue is Russia’s violations: it broke the Budapest Memorandum by annexing Crimea in March 2014, violating Ukraine’s sovereignty. While the Minsk Agreements came later, Russia also undermined them by arming and supporting separatists in Eastern Ukraine. Blaming Ukraine ignores Russia’s clear role in starting and escalating the conflict.

Let's not forget who broke their treaty precipitating the attack.

I’m pretty sure being kidnapped off the streets and marched to front lines to die is worse, but okay.

Usually they try to placate the masses by giving them bread and circuses.

Now bread is $10 and circus is being banned.

Interesting strategy. We'll see how it plays out.

Former Defense Minister Accuses Israel of Committing War Crimes in Gaza (New York Times, 2024-12-01)

Israel Violates Lebanon Ceasefire 140 Times, Targets Border Crossings

Beirut (Quds News Network)- Israel continues to breach the fragile ceasefire with Lebanon, which came into effect on November 27. Early Friday, Israeli forces entered the towns of Aitaroun in Nabatieh and Ayta Al-Shaab in Bint Jbeil. The incursion included movements of tanks and military vehicles.

Lebanese news agency NNA reported that Israeli forces used medium machine guns during a sweeping operation in Ayta Al-Shaab overnight. On Thursday evening, an Israeli airstrike in the same town injured five people, further violating the ceasefire agreement.

The ceasefire agreement included key conditions: Israeli forces must withdraw south of the Blue Line within 60 days, and Lebanese Army and security forces are tasked with controlling the border and southern regions. Despite this, Israel has committed 140 ceasefire violations, killing 14 Lebanese and injuring 18 others.

Consider how many lives this hero saved against how many lives were taken by that vulture capitalist health insurance ghoul that got what was coming to him this week. Look at the language the media uses to talk about the two of them.

Keep that knowledge in the back of your brain whenever you read the news in the future.

Now if they could add proper USB support so we'd be able to upgrade the firmware of Windows only controllers (looking at you 8bitdo Ultimate), that'd be great.

It’s very unusual what the judge did. It means the prosecution over charged and couldn’t prove their case. The charges should be dropped or a new trial.
in reply to Neuromancer

I don't get why they didn't just rule a mistrial. Did the judge wanna get him convicted so bad that second charges were needed?
