Chased, beaten and robbed: survivors describe Israeli settler violence in West Bank

"The settlers left the injured where they lay and departed before the ambulance arrived. Ten Palestinians were wounded, some with multiple fractures.

“This is all part of a project of ethnic cleansing in the West Bank,” said Mohar. “It’s not done by crazy settlers. It’s a state project. The state is informed of everything. If there was a will to stop those attacks, it would have happened in a minute.”"

One dead and 48 injured after Israeli soldiers open fire at Gaza food point

"Witnesses said Israeli forces started shooting after crowds of Palestinians broke through the fences on Tuesday around the distribution site, as an Israeli military helicopter fired flares and bursts of gunfire were heard in the distance. In one video, a large crowd of panicked civilians, including women and children, can be seen running away from the distribution site, trampling the fencing."

Bluff: All Imported Honey from China Fake, New Tests Show

in reply to orize

This hit the news a few years ago. Basically, if it says "blend of EU and non EU honey" it's for Chinese sugar water in it.
in reply to orize

There's no place in Europe you can't get locally produced honey. If this is important to you get your honey from a local beekeeper, for a higher price obviously.
in reply to newaccountwhodis

The Chinese are probably only doing it for profit, but if the result of flooding the market with cheap "honey" is a crash in European pollinator population because of bankrupt beekeepers it could be a problem for agriculture and native European plant species, I guess.

Higher price and no convenience… one need to go in the village, hope someone is at home, endure the social interaction… because few shops carry beekeepers produce. Notably because tax avoidance.
So it’s not exactly a walk in the park as a consumer.
in reply to newaccountwhodis

Yes, personnal responsibility and market mechanism will surely be enough to overcome fraud.
in reply to interdimensionalmeme

Thank you. I'm so incredibly tired of propaganda guilt tripping consumers to feel personally responsible for issues that should be regulated and fixed by a competent government.
in reply to interdimensionalmeme

I know this generally falls under the personal responsibility part, but I think it's also important to point out separately that not only do you have to do this, but you have to KNOW you need to do this. How many people are going to be exposed to this information and then remember it? I try to care and minimize my impact, but I legitimately forget who I'm "supposed" to be boycotting unless it's a big thing. I don't shop at target now, but should I have stopped sooner? Starbucks and McDs, but am I also not supposed to eat at chipotle? I legitimately do not remember. Heck, I don't even remember why I'm boycotting some places. I just assume if it's convenient and cheap I should not go.

New Israeli attack on Sanaa International Airport: Yemen

Israeli aircraft launched a new round of airstrikes on the Sanaa International Airport in Yemen on Tuesday, just ten days after the airport resumed operations following a previous Israeli attack.

According to Israeli and local media, the latest strikes targeted a Yemenia Airways passenger plane.

Al Mayadeen’s correspondent confirmed that several Israeli air raids struck the airport, renewing the assault on civilian infrastructure. Yemeni sources also informed our correspondent that the airport's Customs department was targeted in the strike.

"Israel’s" Channel 12 reported that one of the targets was a Yemenia Airlines aircraft. The extent of the damage has not yet been confirmed, but the report highlights the recurring pattern of targeting civilian aviation infrastructure under the pretext of military objectives.

Which X11 software keeps you from switching to Wayland?

For me AutoKey is absolutely essential to my workflow. I have tons of text expansions and shortcuts to "remap" keys. E.g., respectively, typing dAt expands into 2025-05-08, 13:47:40 CEST, and pressing alt + k simulates the arrow down key.

Secondly there's XScreenSaver which has so many wonderful (mathematical) visualizations that it would be a damn shame if these eventually get lost as Wayland gets more adoption.

None of these have Wayland alternatives as far as I know. For text expansion there's Espanso, but it doesn't support keyboard shortcuts yet.
