Holiday travel financially out of reach for 40% of people in France

in reply to kebab

We have a relative living in France. His government pension is a whopping 90 € per months. That isn't even enough to pay groceries for two weeks.

France is in dire need of a revolution.

I’m surprised they haven’t all ready. It’s what they’ve been known for since 1789.

Epstein’s ex-girlfriend claims disgraced financier was once ‘best friends’ with Trump

Asked whether she believes this letter sounds “out of character” to her based on her experiences with both men, Williams replied incredulously: “What, are you kidding me? I know what they were up to together. It happened to me.”

“I have the post assault postcard with a love note,” she added, referring to a postcard of an aerial view of Mar-a-Lago she says Trump sent to her agent later in 1993. In what appeared to be black Sharpie, according to The Guardian, the card read: “Stacey – Your home away from home. Love Donald.”

in reply to criss_cross

I honestly don't think his base cares that he is a rapist. And I'm pretty convince adding child rapist does indeed make no difference. It's almost not just due process at this point it's just pure denial or acceptance.
in reply to VeryInterestingTable

Except that some of them actually do care, my friend. That's what we're seeing over the past week.

in reply to Sundray

The fake.FBI did not find anything about Trump in their files.

And there never was any FBI files anyway!

in reply to Sundray

What does he need that many agents for? Strg+f, Donald Trump, enter.

The Enshittification of American Power

Copy. I could not work it out based on how you originally said it.
in reply to Bakkoda

Thanks, I changed it from country to government, to make it clearer, but country really is more accurate, as it's every level of the country.

in case you (the reader) weren’t aware, the amount of Palestinians shot dead by the IDF while waiting for food has surpassed the amount of israelis who died on October 7th

think about this the next time someone’s like "but what about Hamas!!!!!"

China is only concerned about China. If they can profit from dehydrating India, they will. They have no concern about the impact to humanity or the climate

in reply to return2ozma

So I actually read the article and everything he says seems good and correct... people need to calm down and unlearn this cynical desire to mock, be self-righteous, and hate. That's what fascists want people to do.

I have my doubts, too. The importance of "owning the libs" is usually the overriding concern for many of them...
in reply to Sundray

They are silent because they are having their 2 brain cells reset so they can still support their pedo in command.

Trump intervenes to help block law requiring priests report child abuse in confession

A government of the pedophiles, by the pedophiles and for the pedophiles.
in reply to spaghettiwestern

Because of course. This would harm Trump and all his buddies.

Every. Little. Thing. The GOP does is projection. So that stint about them being against pedophilia straight up means they are all pedophiles.

Health experts raise alarm over RFK Jr’s ‘war on science’ amid mass firings and budget cuts

These guys are doing a lot of damage. If the US can shake these assholes out of power, it will likely take years to even understand the extent of the damage they have done, never mind undoing all the damage.

I would not be surprised to see EU and China leapfrog us by a country mile thanks to the assfucks the stupidest people in this country voted for...I mean, cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, heart disease - these guys are cutting NIH funding.

And a lot of it is driven by a whole lot of stupid people wanting Taco to get "revenge" on some group of people over mostly-made-up cultural bullshit. It takes well-adjusted adults to build a working system. Any dysfunctional dumbass or even a child can tear things apart...

Cyberpunk 2077 was not meant to be something to be aspired to. But at this rate, we might just skip straight to Fallout.

in reply to usernamesAreTricky

Every action generates headlines. In this case even getting voted down is a win because it's another round of stories.
in reply to redsand

Oh 100%, keeps it going and puts pressure on the representatives who are up for reelection. The base is already mad about this, and even those who may not abandon Trump on this may very well be willing to blame Republicans in congress

Plus dems for once are actually playing smart politics here. Over the past two weeks, they've been forcing votes on various versions of it. They've had 4 so far I believe. Some in various committees, some as amendments, etc. The Massie/Ro Khanna version of the bill would make it even harder to shoot down than those other votes because it would be fully stand alone and fairly well written to cover all the various other excuses raised earlier

Channel.org open beta

Direct link

Seems to be a way of making Bluesky style feeds with Mastodon-style services, well that's what I gather from reading the FAQ. They don't actually explain what this is anywhere.

Today, Channel.org public beta goes live! 🎉

We're so excited to give you access to Channel.org Channels, your own curated feeds across the social web.

You can create a Channel on the Channel.org website now and then download the beta Channels app for easy management.

We'd love for you to try it out and let us know what you think!

Yea I'm thoroughly confused, what even is this? Is it open source, code anywhere?

in reply to SorteKanin

Channel is basically a white label instance of PatchWork, which is a Mastodon fork with custom feeds and community curation tools.

The main intent behind the project is to help existing communities and organizations get onto the Fediverse, and have some curation capabilities. Ideally, it can be used to get a large amount of people and accounts onto the network with minimal friction.

Inside the Long Friendship Between Trump and Epstein

For nearly 15 years, the two men socialized together in Manhattan and Palm Beach, Fla., before a falling out that preceded Mr. Epstein’s first arrest.

I'll note that the basic facts here have been public for a while — the NYT ran a story about them in 2019, but they're re-upping it in light of the WSJ's publication of a letter to Epstein

I just tried the archived link and apparently NYTimes even blocks the full article from the archive ☹️

Main reason I tried that is because, to my understanding, NYTimes gift articles are only available for 2 weeks or so.

Sigh, I tried anyways, for the good cause. 🤷

in reply to over_clox

You gotta strip the gift link query params off the end, and then you get the whole article: archive.is/2025.07.20-123949/n…
