Saved you a click:

"The cause of this acceleration is not explained," Leonid Zotov, a leading authority on Earth rotation at Moscow State University, told Timeanddate.com. "Most scientists believe it is something inside the Earth. Ocean and atmospheric models don't explain this huge acceleration."

Zotov predicts Earth’s rotation may soon decelerate once again. If he’s right, this sudden speeding-up could prove to be just a temporary anomaly in the planet’s long-term trend toward slower rotation and longer days.

"Something" in the core is "happening" "in a way" that's speeding us up. Temporarily.

This is just minor trivia in Earth's history. 🤷‍♂️

Nobody cares. We all know the FBI did it.

Epstein files.

in reply to foggy

They're throwing out as many things as they can think of to distract everyone from those Epstein files, and it's not working. That ~~Streisand~~ Trump Effect at work.

Cool, so FBI, right? It seems obvious but an answer would be neat

So the global network of child rapists... Where are we on that?

NASA investigates vision disorder affecting 70% of astronauts

NASA scientists are intensifying their investigation into a vision disorder that affects 70% of astronauts on long-duration space missions, as new research reveals the condition poses mounting risks for future Mars exploration 1 2. Space- Associated Neuro-Ocular Syndrome (SANS) causes crew members to experience blurred reading vision, swollen optic discs, and flattened eyeballs that can persist for years after returning to Earth

Not if you make a proper core instead of the weaponry then you could get gravity based on a highly compressed material creating the gravitational force. If you go big youre going all in.

We're stuck on this rock for god damn reason. We should dig instead of flying but it's just my private opinion that means nothing.

Drat. I'd read another article that didn't indicate that they were released. I can't read every article about the same topic, so my bad for missing that in this one. Thanks for clarifying. Now I'm disappointed.

Hanlon's razor always applies

No it doesn't. It's a heuristic. More like a "rule of thumb," and it absolutely does not always apply.

It's naive and foolish to try to convince yourself that people just don't ever act in malice. That's absurd.

"He's not a REAL supporter of Palestine"

"Why does it not count, all these things he did to materially support Palestine, from inside the US government where it can actually make a real material difference in a way that almost no one else on earth is able to do when they care about Palestine?"

"Because he doesn't want to see Israel destroyed. That means it doesn't count."

Fuck outta here

Palestinians Are Collapsing in Gaza's Streets From Israeli-Imposed Starvation Campaign

in reply to Peter Link

When Auschwitz happened, we didn't have the social media and access to information about what was going on there in real time. Millions upon millions worldwide had no idea what happened until after it was over. Never again, it was said. How in the ever loving FUCK are governments and people in power not doing more to stop this slaughter that is literally happening right in front of our fucking eyes???
in reply to Balaquina

Never again!? More like always has always will.

You seriously expect a bunch of white Christofascist Zionists to care about brown Muslims?

If the Holocaust taught us a lesson it is clear the Jewish people of Israel didn't get it.

in reply to Doomsider

This is the thing that absolutely blows my fucking mind. I had a grandfather in Auschwitz, I have heard all the horror stories, and although there are many Jewish people out there in the world who oppose what is happening in Palestine (including holocaust survivors), the fact that Jewish people suffered so badly and then collectively immediately turned around and did the same thing to someone else just kills my faith in people. Sometimes I just wonder what the fucking point of any of this is.
in reply to Balaquina

Because the people largely don't give a shit. They can't even inconvenience themselves but boycotting shitty expensive products, let alone put pressure on their governments.
in reply to 3abas

So true. Since the US has threatened to annex Canada, I have boycotted absolutely everything American, including software. I'm not buying any of their shit AT ALL. It was a bit of a transition period for a month or two so did take a little bit of effort, but now I'm in a new routine and it isn't difficult. I have multiple people in my life who are literally CRYING and having fucking PANIC ATTACKS over what is going on in the US, yet they can't be bothered to mildly inconvenience themselves by not buying from Amazon, or using a Google alternative, etc. One person literally told me when I was still in the process of looking for alternatives "You're just going to have to kiss the ring". NO I FUCKING DON'T. It is laziness pure and simple.
in reply to Balaquina

It's worth remembering that no one was fighting Germany to stop the Holocaust. The world would have happily stood by and watched it Germany had stuck to just exterminating its own people without invading Europe.

People do suck, but it's not a new condition by any means.

I was assured by many "uncommitted" lemmykins that this wasn't possible.

in reply to atzanteol

There was certainly no course change, which Uncommitted tried to promote as an option. It was an attempt to make a public appeal that genocide should be an issue worth making political decisions around.

The lesson the victors over Uncomitted demand is that genocide is not a political enough issue worth acting or voting on.

in reply to atzanteol

What are you referring to? The "uncommitted" vote in the Democratic prez primary? Pro-Trump voters maybe, but uncommitted voters didn't back Trump, they were trying to move Biden/Harris to stop supporting the genocide, which was well underway back then.

Nigel Farage says he would send violent offenders to El Salvador under crime crackdown

Nigel Farage has said violent UK offenders could be jailed overseas under his plans to cut crime by half.

The Reform UK leader named El Salvador as a likely destination, though he said he has not held conversations with officials there and "multiple" partners would be considered.

El Salvador is home to a notorious mega-prison, the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT).

in reply to Lee Duna

Does Farage want another Australia?

Because the last time the British government tried this shit, we got Australia.

in reply to Lee Duna

A journalist should ask Farage if Trump's arsehole tastes like Putin's knob.

And by Trump's arsehole, I am not referring to J D Vance.

“F‑‑‑ him. F‑‑‑ him. No. 1, I agree with Quentin Tarantino. … F‑‑‑ing George Clooney is not a f‑‑‑ing actor. He is a f‑‑‑ing, like … I don’t know what he is. He is a brand.”

UK, France and 23 other countries say the war in Gaza ‘must end now’

[now let's see if they do something]

LONDON (AP) — Twenty-five countries including #Britain, #France and a host of #European nations issued a joint statement on Monday that puts more pressure on #Israel, saying the war in #Gaza “must end now” and Israel must comply with international law.

The foreign ministers of countries including #Australia, #Canada and #Japan said “the suffering of civilians in Gaza has reached new depths.” They condemned “the drip feeding of aid and the inhumane killing of civilians, including children, seeking to meet their most basic needs of water and food.”

The statement described as “horrifying” the deaths of over 800 #Palestinians who were seeking aid...

Anything less than sanctions and total economic boycott is a stalling tactic aimed at allowing the genocide to finish.

This is no different from if the police show up to a drug house, and one of the residents stands in the doorway opining about how horrible it is that drugs were discovered at their home and how morally bankrupt the illicit drug trade is, in order for their buddy to finish flushing their stash. Except it's even less subtle when countries do it.

They will keep participating in it though. Also, frankly, anyone still calling it a "war" is probably a Genocide denier

in reply to kebab

I grew up in rural america in a tourist town. We hated the tourists. Wealthy. Arrogant. Rude. Unaware of local customs. Drove up rent and grocery prices.

But, at the end of the day, we were the only town within an hour radius that wasn't crumbling. All those vacation homes paid property taxes and the school system was great. There were jobs for people.

There are a lot of issues with unregulated tourism and immigration. But it's better to regulate the issues and keep up with fostering good job markets and building government controlled affordable housing instead of try and ban a chunk of your economy. Which, from this limited article, it seems like the government is trying to do.

good argument (/s)

if you want to provide an actual argument, better provide the whole argument, instead of basically just saying "you're wrong lol"

what causes it instead?

in reply to gandalf_der_12te

Yawn. Someone is profiting on tourism. Use your brain and follow the money ffs.
in reply to womjunru

I know why you got downvoted, but you are right, it's not about tourists, it's about the USA immigrants (the so called expats), since the goverment made changes to privately benefit from all the airbnb shit, we have people earning in dollars, that pay 0 taxes to México and of course the market tries to squeeze out their dollars, rising prices and changing the environment to appeal to those migrants, leaving out and even kicking out the nationals.

People are right to be angry about it, but they are aiming to the wrong part, this was allowed (and boosted) by the past and present administration (even when they were warned about it) to fill their own pockets even if it meant stepping on their own people.

in reply to Ofiuco

The people in power allow the rich to become richer on the backs of the poor.

“I’m not the problem!” Says the rich man, “it’s those immigrants, whose money I’m taking, who are the problem. Fight amongst yourselves”

in reply to womjunru

To a lesser extent, many USA immigrants are trying to make everything around them to their liking instead of integrating themselves to a new culture... And a lot of mexicans are happy to lick their soles expecting to become one of them or be accepted by them.

Why the federal government is making climate data disappear

You can view their disappearance a few ways, experts said — as a flex of executive power, an escalation in the culture war over climate change, or a strategic attempt to erase the scientific foundation for climate policy.

“If you suppress information and data, then you don’t have the evidence you need to be able to create regulations, strengthen regulations and even to combat the repeal of regulations,” Gehrke said.

This isn’t climate denial in the traditional sense. The days of loudly debating the science have mostly given way to a campaign to withhold the raw information itself. “I don’t know if we’re living in climate denial anymore,” said Leah Aronowsky, a science historian at Columbia Climate School. “We have this new front of denial by erasure.”

There's plenty of data in the countries around you.

And can't they just share the data with a friendly/partner university outside the US, before they have to delete it?
