[LOS ANGELES — A woman has filed federal lawsuits accusing Donald Trump of raping her two decades ago, when she was 13...“I loudly pleaded with Defendant Trump to stop, but he did not,” Jane Doe wrote in a formal declaration accompanying her recent suits. “Defendant Trump responded to my pleas by violently striking me in the face with his open hand and screaming that he would do whatever he wanted. ... Immediately following this rape, Defendant Trump threatened me that, were I ever to reveal any of the details of Defendant Trump’s sexual and physical abuse of me, my family and I would be physically harmed if not killed.”]

Thanks. I'm embarrassed to admit that I thought the 2003 birthday letter was a meme, until right now.
Like the text was real, but somebody superimposed it onto a lurid drawing, adding T's signature for extra disgust.
Turns out it was Trump himself who did all that. And thanks to the WSJ for holding up to at least some journalistic integrity, sticking to the truth.
America must keep Dear Leader in power. They haven’t even got around to the portraits in every home yet. Probably won’t need to, it’s happening naturally.

Dear diary,
Today someone was sarcastic on Lemmy and people liked it. Big day for the fediverse.
They think it's going to blow over by the time they get back
Which mean they're putting plans in place to make it blow over
They are doing more damage with all their other nefarious shit going around or ignoring Congress/judges/scotus/etc, we're still in a really, really fucked up place right now and it's still only going to get worse for the average person.
It'll take at least the next 2-4 years to start to show tangible devastating affects that will get millions of Americans killed with stripping away healthcare, food/snap programs, children's cancer research being scrapped, and a list of 100 other programs being cut, gutted,or flat out just gone now and some of those programs may never come back. Shit ain't over just cuz Congress put their feet up on the desk. Stay sharp, stay focused.
Those quotation marks are unnecessary. This is hardly unusual behavior for a Christian.
I’ve never met a Christian, who actually embodied Christian values. Every one of them, especially the more religious of them, is a lying bigoted hypocrite, who only gives a shit about themselves and their own family. Maybe I’ve met the wrong kind of Christians, but there it is.
I have, however, met a great deal of atheists, who, in fact, do embody what Christians proselytize as their values. Kindness, acceptance, understanding, a duty to help others… in my life, the worst people I’ve ever met were strongly religious. And the best people I’ve ever met were atheists.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Completely agree with this. To be "Christian" is to embrace this concept of an in-crowd and an out-crowd; if you're not part of "my" crowd you can literally go to fucking hell and my omnipotent God-ruler is going to make sure you're punished eternally if you don't do what I say.
Being a shitty person is baked in at the deepest foundation of being Christian, and probably most types of religion tbh.

The closing statement of several posts refer to us a “Christian grifters”.. I had to laugh out loud as I read that.. yes, we’re proudly Christian. Hard-working ppl that put everything on the line, to open businesses, provide jobs, training, support local schools & charities are definitely not grifters.
Being that we’re Christian & proud to say so, I will reference john 8:7 (related to this public judgment of the situation)… “So when they continued asking Him, He lifted Himself up and said unto them, “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”
Jesus was talking about a prostitute in this verse, who was being publicly presented with her sin visible to everyone. They were going to publicly stone her. That was 2,000 years ago. I hope we’ve evolved since then.. but maybe some of us haven’t.

The GOP now: “ we need to protect the philes!”
only until the American people have someone to rally behind and no one has yet to step up to that position. None of the democrats will.
They need a leader, no one wants to lead.
Going off what we know so far, many of American elites were either involved or must have known.
As in this silence is a quite severe complicity they should be stripped of any and all power, any and all wealth and those who cannot be made to rot in prison should have their names shunned forever.
Looked it up, and molestation apparently just involves touching, whereas rape involves intercourse. So it might be more accurate to say, "bunch of child rapists". But even then, that probably doesn't cover kidnapping, trafficking, abuse, drugging, and repeatedly raping a bunch of children for decades in a personal billionaire cult ring on a private island.
Every person defending these monsters deserves to be alive in the most , , and public way. I am calling for absolute of the highest degree.
What’s the new southern term for this here happenstance?
It's not that the insane outnumber them, it's that the military has crazy firepower and is controlled by trump loyalists, and they are willing to open fire on citizens. The sane people know that.
The only hope is infiltrating the military i guess?
Does not compute.
The US fell into this nonsense long before Trump took it to full, unashamed facism. The people of that country had lots of time and opportunity to just simply not vote for the objectively evil people and even right now currently have the ability to vote.
The amount of gerrymandering it would take to make a 10% minority pull off a win is so far beyond what we have today. But it’s not a 10% minority, it’s over 70 million people who handed Trump the popular vote. They could simply have just not done that but their hate and fear mean they’re more than happy to support such a wildly cruel party over and over again. It’s not the military that’s forcing them to vote for dear leader, not yet anyway, and there have been decades of opportunity to sort this shit out before this point.
No weak excuses, that shithole country has forced its way into everyone else’s business and needs to shape the fuck up.
Tbf I didn't say anything about it being a 10% minority. But trump won with less than 50% of the popular vote which we know included voter suppression and straight doctoring votes, so I think the people who didn't vote for him do outnumber those who did, but yes, it is definitely well over 70M people.
I'm not making excuses at all, something must be done, but what do we expect? Their cops have insane fire power and will open fire on civilians, so I guess we just have to hope some people are willing to martyr themselves and commit suicide by cop?
I hope for a revolution, but I understand why people might be afraid to stand up.
I wish. There's a permanent restricted airspace around the capitol. In the before times, an unauthorized aircraft would get in serious trouble with the FAA. Nowadays with the sycophantic dictator in charge, who knows what could happen.
But it'd be a damn cool way to say your last words.
I’ve never met a Christian, who actually embodied Christian values.
I actually have. They are rarer than crow's teeth though.
I agree that the atheists I know are generally better people, cheat less, have fewer criminal records, etc...

Did Mike Johnson Backtrack on Epstein Report Release?
Johnson’s Public Position on Epstein Report
- Previously, House Speaker Mike Johnson had publicly expressed support for releasing the Justice Department’s files on Jeffrey Epstein, echoing calls from both the MAGA base and House Democrats for “everything” to be disclosed:
> “It’s a very delicate subject, but we should — we should put everything out there and let the people decide it,” Johnson said just days before the controversy escalated[1]. - Johnson also stated, “House Republicans advocate for transparency and are seeking ways to demonstrate that. … I have been unequivocal, and the members have expressed the same”[2].
What Changed?
- Despite these statements, Johnson reversed course this week, saying that he would NOT hold a House vote on measures related to releasing the Epstein files before Congress left for its August recess[1][3][4].
- In explaining the move, Johnson argued there was “no purpose for Congress to urge an administration to do something they’re already doing,” referring to ongoing internal Justice Department processes[5][6].
- He blamed Democrats for pushing the issue as “political games”—even as a bipartisan group of lawmakers, led by Rep. Thomas Massie, continued working to force a vote when Congress returns in September[6][3].
Shutting Down the Floor
- Republicans on the House Rules Committee refused to allow votes on any bills this week, out of fear Democrats would attempt to force amendments calling for the release of the Epstein files[4][7].
- This led Johnson and GOP leaders to shut down the House early, cancelling scheduled votes and starting their August recess a day ahead of plan, essentially blocking any immediate action on the Epstein documents[8][2][6][9].
- Johnson’s move has drawn criticism from across the political spectrum, with some accusing him of putting party politics and Trump’s interests ahead of transparency and public interest[2][1][10][11].
Summary Table: Johnson’s Stance vs. Actions
| What Johnson Said | What Johnson Did |
|---|---|
| Supported full transparency[1] | Blocked a House vote on Epstein files before recess[6][2][3] |
| Urged release of all files[1] | Sent House home early to avoid the vote[8][2][6][9] |
| Blamed Democrats for drama[2] | Accused of shielding the White House from scrutiny[11][2] |
Key Takeaways
- Mike Johnson initially voiced support for releasing the Epstein report, backing full transparency.
- He then blocked a House vote and adjourned Congress early, delaying any legislative push for disclosure.
- Public reaction has been critical, with many seeing this as Johnson reversing himself to sidestep political fallout and protect the White House[1][2][4][11].
This sequence highlights a sharp contrast between Johnson’s earlier rhetoric on transparency and his recent actions to halt legislative business on the Epstein files.

Bro if you're flying in restricted airspace near govt buildings you know what happens. You get intercepted by a fighter jet and either have a friendly escort out of the restricted area or you make friends with a missile and get obliterated.
I would not recommend trying to find out which will happen.
On a related note:
I've been wondering if drones could be adapted to essentially act as glide bombs that could operate without direct control input. Those probably would get around most protections especially if they had a glide slope that they'd stay on if their systems were jammed electronically. Like they get launched, fly to whatever altitude they need to be at to take a long glide down, and just go for pre programmed coordinates.
That's probably something the war in Ukraine has either made a thing or it was tried and found to be dumb but I've not done research on it.
It's not like civilians are gonna get their hands on true missiles and launch systems. But civies could find a way to put together some drones packed with explosives pretty easily I imagine.

Actually this is pretty upsetting, because we know he wants to distract everyone, and we know he has essentially unlimited authority with the corrupt SCOTUS in his corner and the GOP majority in congress. We know that he is a sociopath, and does not give a shit about literally anyone or anything except himself.
So what would an all-powerful narcissist do to distract the public from his crimes? Or, better question, what wouldn't he do?
What do you know, the treasonous lech who is somehow president, Donald J. Trump, is not having much luck convincing the world to ignore his Jeffrey Epstein forbidden files of mystery. Why is everybody so interested in an allegedly multinational secretive little-girl-sex-abusing cabal of billionaires, so boring! He’s only been whipping his followers up about it for years. The Epstein Files drama seems to have not affected Trump’s already low approval rating one way or the other, and among self-identified conservatives his approval is actually UP a couple of points. True cultists have doubled down, because in a cult there’s only do that or admit you were wrong and leave, and they’re as stubborn as they are stupid.
But a lot of questions still linger!
And we almost missed this large tidbit: how Epstein invested $40 million with JD Vance’s sugardaddy/weirdo who is unsure if humanity should survive, Peter Thiel. Who else invested with Epstein besides Les Wexner and Leon Black? Inquiring minds want to know! Also, why did RFK Jr. fly on his plane, because the excuse that he just happened to hang out with a lot of pedophiles does not really cut it.

I mean, yeah. I have never once worried about my physical safety on a NYC subway.
It is more not wanting to smell all the horrific things coming out of people's orifices, getting mugged, or having to hop out and wait for the next train to avoid someone having a breakdown because mental health isn't a thing in this country. I still love taking the train but if someone is willing to risk their car in traffic... I'll passenger princess that shit.
Someone rips the phone out of my hand? Monetarily and socially that sucks but I can also protect myself by pocketing my phone any time we are near a stop where the doors open.
Someone says "gimme your wallet"? I'm old school. That is why you always carry 40-100 bucks in cash (I like a money clip) and just give them that. The vast majority of muggers are doing it to survive and understand that credit cards get cancelled immediately and cell phones are just a tracking beacon that needs to be fenced. And they don't want to steal your IDs and make your life hell. Give them cash without complaint and they move on.
Ah, street smarts
See, I'm so white and nerdy that I'm nearly allergic to the sun
Much more likely the murder was something else. Out of the 387 murders in NYC in 2024, 312 of them were men.
So that's about 4 out of 5 murders being men/boys
Women are a lot more likely to be murdered than men by their domestic partner, but men are far more likely to be murdered on the street.
Your boyfriend probably wont kill you in front of witnesses on the subway. He might ~~if he catches you with someone else in his bed.~~ in the privacy of your home.
In 2025, USAID cut funding for a rainwater harvesting initiative designed to improve water access at cyclone evacuation centers in one of the country’s most remote, drought-prone provinces, said Vomboe Shem, climate lead for Save the Children Vanuatu. The materials had already been shipped and distributed, but the project was halted.
Trump's legacy of murder in action.
Someone told me that “the global elites” wanted to chase a policy of reducing the worlds population (vaccines came up as one way) as part of environmental policies and that was why they needed to support Trump (neither of us has any material attachment to the USA, naturally).
It’s ironic, because that’s actually what Trump is doing. painfully ironic, as people are being hurt and killed by the policies. Not to say that a different president wouldn’t move in their own interest.

Is this supposed to sway eco conscious genocide supporters?
This is not the way I understood this article. It seems to me it is one more argument for the case of continuous ethnic cleansing for so many decades.
If we agree that
most frequently, however, the aim of ethnic cleansing is to expel the despised ethnic group through either indirect coercion or direct force, and to ensure that return is impossible,
then by bombing all buildings, homes and infrastructure, they force people to go somewhere else and in the same time restrict them from coming back, since there is nothing to come back to.
So in this study, they actually measure the not coming back for decades part
Edit: I did several edits. I stop now.
At this point, clearing it and re-building will have to happen regardless of the outcome of the genocide, so what point are they trying to make here? The only green choice is to leave Gaza a destroyed wasteland?
It needs to be cleared, re-built, and returned to the Palestinians. Ideally funded by the Israelis.
Well, sure, recovery from incredible devastation will take decades and the energy required to clear and replace all the structures will not be environmentally friendly, that should all be obvious to anyone who knows anything about construction projects:
fairplanet.org/story/concrete-…
"To create Portland cement, limestone undergoes a calcination process, which releases large amounts of CO2 from the chemical reaction. This is the concrete industry’s dirtiest activity, releasing up to 50 per cent of the cement industry’s carbon emissions.
Additionally, to transform raw materials into clinker, cement's intermediate product, large amounts of energy are required to heat, mix and cool the ingredients in giant kilns.
It is estimated that, in traditional kilns, one tonne of cement produces one tonne of carbon dioxide, although modernised factories have found ways to reduce these emissions.
Water Use
Cement creation is also highly water intensive, particularly during cooling after materials are baked at extremely high temperatures.
Nature Magazine estimates the concrete industry is responsible for nine per cent of all water withdrawals from the sector. Approximately 16.6 km squared of water is used annually for concrete production, and this figure is expected to soar as the demand for concrete continues to rise."
So, again, what are they trying to argue here? The only environmentally responsible option is to leave Gaza destroyed?
Why is concrete so damaging to the environment?
What makes concrete so damaging? From carbon-heavy cement production to water-intensive processes and biodiversity loss, its impacts run deep.Gerardo Bandera (FairPlanet)
So, again, what are they trying to argue here? The only environmentally responsible option is to leave Gaza destroyed?
From the study itself (4. Discussion & 5. Concluding remarks), this is not what I got. On the contrary, it seems to me like they try to make some calculations/estimations/evaluations so that this is something that takes place.
Ukraine moves against independent anti-corruption bodies

Lawmakers voted on Tuesday in favour of legislation that would, in effect, eliminate the independence of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (Nabu) and its partner organisation the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (Sapo), according to four lawmakers and officials familiar who spoke with the Financial Times during the vote. The move to bring Nabu under executive control is the latest in a series of manoeuvres against pro-reform activists and anti-corruption campaigners that have prompted warnings of creeping authoritarianism in the president’s wartime administration, raising concerns among Ukraine’s western allies.
Yup.
Keep in mind that this is positive for foreign business interests like the ones that would get to mine those minerals, or foreign Big Ag that's buying up farmland. All of those would have easier time to acquire more of those resources for cheaper and extract higher profits, offloading more negative externalities on the majority of Ukranians.
Also accession to the EU would require reforms in the opposite direction from this. The vested interests making these changes are making Ukraine's EU prospects more difficult.
Century-old dam under strain as floods increase in US and federal funds dry up
Trump axes key infrastructure funding while more than 18,000 Ohio properties face flood risk as ageing dam buckles
More than 18,000 properties that sit downstream of a series of a century-old Ohio dam are at risk of flooding over the next three decades, according to climate data, as the Trump administration continues to roll back investments that would aid in keeping the waters at bay.
In a part of the US that’s largely flat, the view from above the Huffman dam in south-west Ohio is rare.
From the bike trail atop the dam, the shimmering lights of downtown Dayton appear to the south. Cargo planes from a nearby air force base circle overhead and water from the 66-mile-long Mad River gushes underfoot.
But the dam serves a far more pressing purpose: holding back up to 54bn gallons of water – enough to fill 82,000 Olympic-size swimming pools – during flooding events.

If this damn breaks, it would flood montgomery county which is down stream, and more specifically Dayton, oh.
This petty scheudenfraude you're feeling is both misinformed and frankly the behaviour of a shitty person. The people most harmed by Trump will always be children who cant vote.
If we aren't cheering for children on welfare being punished for thier parents being poor, we shouldnt cheer for children of republicans being punished because thier parents are stupid.

Russia using children to design and test its military drones, investigation finds
Teenagers who take part in video games tell of being headhunted to work on technology used against Ukraine
Russian authorities have systematically involved children in the design and testing of drones for the country’s war in Ukraine through nationwide competitions that begin with innocent-seeming video games and end up with the most talented students headhunted by defence companies, an investigation has found.
The revelations, part of an investigation by the exiled Russian news outlet the Insider, are the latest to show just how much Russia’s leaders are dragging the country’s youth into the war effort in Ukraine, with “patriotic” and militarised education often spilling over into outright participation.
“The kids are actively involved in modelling components of systems for various drones,” one of the teenagers involved told a journalist. “I know of several people at least who were modelling UAV [unmanned aerial vehicle] components for major enterprises.”

Not really. A normal thing for most functional states 50 years ago. A comprehensive pipeline of training and preparation for various industrial and military roles.
From first aid to orientation on terrain to radio knowledge to flag signals. Flight clubs, other relevant sports, small arms disassembly and assembly. What to do in case of an emergency. Chemistry, electric engineering, mechanical engineering.
Computer games weren't a thing, and cheap small drone planes too. But this is pretty normal, except nothing is official, because today nation-states prefer gray schemes.
Democrats in Southeast Virginia Endorse “Pro-Trump, Pro-ICE” Sheriff
Democrats in Southeast Virginia Endorse "Pro-Trump, Pro-ICE" Sheriff - Bolts
Immigrant rights advocates were already dismayed that no Democrat ran against their local GOP sheriff in Chesapeake. Then the local Democratic Party rallied around him.Daniel Nichanian (Bolts)

Chesapeake is a purple city that has often voted for Democrats, including in four of the past five presidential elections. But no Democrat or independent had filed to run for sheriff in advance of a mid-June deadline, to the immense frustration of local immigrant rights advocates who’d hoped to have an alternative to rally around. “It blows my mind that there’s no opposition,” Maida Dooley, an organizer in the region, told Bolts in early June, calling local party leadership complacent. “Maybe they don’t care,” she said.
I always wonder why I see seats with no candidate in them. I believe in many states there aren't really any prerequisites to being Sherrif, so you could put anyone up for the job. It sounds like this area is open to Dem candidates, so to drop the ball on something important like sheriff right now comes across as very fatalistic on an important issue.
“He was the candidate that was in line with our values,” local party chair David Washington told Bolts.
Which ones?
When it came time for the committee to vote on whether to endorse Rosado, members were asked to hold up a voting card—green for support, red for opposed.“I saw a sea of green, and myself as the only red,” said D.J. McGuire, a committee member and an advocate for immigrants’ rights. Just two days prior, McGuire had spoken to Chesapeake’s city council to urge it to cut off any local cooperation with ICE.
McGuire, who used to be a Republican but quit the party after Trump emerged as its leader last decade, says he was one of only a few people to press Rosado at the July 10 meeting.
What is up with this place? The Dems are endorsing the Republicans while the recent Republican is trying to stop them. What a bizarro story...
