I love how you can post western mainstream media sources and get no pushback, but make a post saying the exact same thing but referencing a Russian source and you immediately attract a dozen downvotes and comments about how you are a Russian propagandist.

Well, but that's kind of how it works.

If you say something positive about yourself, it's not worth anything. But if an adversary says something positive about you, it has meaning because they are not incentivized to say the thing.

They might get some sympathy from Iran, but the Suadis are too friendly with Trump for any traction.

If the US takes control of Venezuela's oil prod, the OPEC and therefore Saudi control over the oil price diminishes. Therefore Saudi revenues are likely to fall. While I don't expect Saudi to do anything, there would be logic in them doing so. Perhaps MBS could use the backchannel to tell Trump not to invade.

Yeah, obviously Russia always knew better than to permanently occupy western Banderite concentrations. So Europe will inherit a nest of angry, armed fascists who feel betrayed. Good luck with that.

The one consistent theme throughout the war has been that western analysts have solely focused on considering the negative consequences for Russia without ever stopping to think what the negative consequences for the west might be.

Does anybody here owns a PineNote? How usable is it?

I want to take it as a tool for reading/writing/studying and super basic browsing. My phone just broke, chat control just got approved and I'm sick of proprietary shit: I decided I'm not gonna buy anything which doesn't hold free software anymore.

I love e-ink and I love Linux, but how usable is the pinenote with Linux? How hard is the install process? Can an average Linux user/self hoster use it daily? How's battery? Couldn't find many reviews online..

The version of Debian it shipped with had a bug where I couldn’t install any software updates without deleting some random lib64 directory. Once I did that, everything was fine.

Neat, I'm still running the stock Android but I'll try. How long ago did you do that? Is your fix documented somewhere?

Opening the cage: the FSFE flies away from X (Twitter) - FSFE

The Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) permanently deleted its account on X (formerly Twitter) on December 4, 2025, citing the platform's increasing hostility and misalignment with their values1.

The FSFE explained that while they initially used Twitter to promote free software values and connect with policymakers and journalists, the platform had become "a centralised arena of hostility, misinformation, and profit-driven control"1. They specifically criticized X's algorithm for prioritizing "hatred, polarisation, and sensationalism"1.

While leaving X, the FSFE continues to maintain some presence on other proprietary platforms to reach wider audiences, but strongly encourages supporters to follow them on decentralized alternatives in the Fediverse, specifically their Mastodon and Peertube accounts1.

i struggle to understand why people and institutions stick with the likes of twitter or reddit.

it's easy to understand that it's because that's were the masses are, but the mission/message you're putting out there while doing so includes the consent that genocide and ethnic cleansing are fine with you and/or your institution.

Maduro may have to bring out their gundams

Look at this imperial hubris:

Maduro has said there are 8 million civilians training in militias, but one source estimated that only thousands of intelligence personnel, armed ruling-party supporters and militia members would really participate in defensive actions.

That is the polite way of saying the US wants to destroy Venezuela and steal in natural resources.
