Data centers are amazing. Everyone hates them.
In these politically divisive times, there’s one thing we all agree on—we don’t want a giant data center in our backyard.Mat Honan (MIT Technology Review)

You most likely need to enable Canvas support on that site for the upload. It's a little picture icon right to the left of the URL bar. I would recommend reading the docs above.

French pirate/torrent sites?
like this
The fediverse community is !tipiak@anarchist.nexus
Tipiak is a kinda slang way of saying pirate. It comes from an old tv ad from a food company named Tipiak. 3 old grandma screamed "pirate !" after discovering that the food tastes the same as their own secret family recipe (supposedly). It became sort of a meme and is used to say pirate. As the French language is not difficult enough for our English neighbours, we started to conjugate the word: Ce soir je vais tipiaker ce film (tonight I’m going to pirate (download) that film).
The same word is used in the answer from @obercail@jlai.lu with even a new variant: Tipiakeries (pirate thingy)
The two main French torrents tracker (private tracker) are:
- yggtorrent.org/ (domain tld change regularly)
- la-cale.space/ (recently created after bad decision by ygg, and growing)

Experience with hosting a public Invidious instance?
I just finished setting up the hardware infrastructure to start hosting but I cannot find any specific information in the official documentation on how to set up a public Invidious instance. I understand the guide as far as just hosting an instance and watching YouTube through that goes, but how do I, for instance, give it a publicly searchable domain name that - in the best of worlds - is listed on Invidious' website?
I assume there is a better way than to start posting my instance's IP address throughout any forums that I might be active on?

As diminou mentioned, do your research before you go down this road. You can also open yourself to DMCA takedowns if you aren't careful.
See: docs.invidious.io/hide-instanc…
It would be better for you to just run a private instance initially. You can use tailscale if you want to be able to access it remotely. That's the safest way to start out.
Edit: There's a tutorial here if you are intent on doing it: fedfree.org/docs/http/arch-inv…
Thanks for the tutorial! For now, I'm looking into connecting to my instance with a simple wireguard tunnel, if I decide to just have a private instance.
I already read Invidious' documentation. 👍
The reason I'm asking about a public instance is because I want to share my bandwidth with y'all with more than torrenting, an I2P router and Tor bridges. 🙈
it's so wild that she never wants to eat them. I'm eating them! I know it's yummy! oftentimes it's stuff with fish or chicken, which she knows the taste of! but never even goes for a nibble, just a sniff.
Honestly quite happy that she's very stupid. The only way she knows what food is, is if it is in her bowl.

How to revert Firefox’s latest changes to address bar suggestions
tldr; Firefox changed the order in which suggestions appear when you start typing in the address bar. It used to show previously visited websites first. Now it prioritizes its own suggestions.
To get back to the old behaviour, navigate to about:config, search for the key browser.urlbar.showSearchSuggestionsFirst and change the value to false.
Reverting Firefox's recent URL bar suggestion order change
In a recent update Firefox changed the order of it's URL bar suggestions order to make search suggestions appear first before recently visited URLs. This is annoying so I changed it back.willj.net

A simple "no" or perhaps "contributions welcome" might be better.

Even that "embrace, extent, extinguish" idea comes from different times and it's likely less profitable than the vendor lock-in and other modern practices that are actually in place today. Even the copyright argument is something that could easily backfire if they just throw it in a case, because of all this questionable AI training.
