Microsoft’s $440 billion wipeout, and investors angry about OpenAI’s debt, explained

The immediate catalyst, it seems, is an intensifying focus on capex, or capital expenditures. Microsoft revealed that its spending surged 66% to $37.5 billion in the latest quarter, even as growth in its Azure cloud business cooled slightly. Even more concerning to analysts, however, was a new disclosure that approximately 45% of the company’s $625 billion in remaining performance obligations (RPO)—a key measure of future cloud contracts—is tied directly to OpenAI, the company revealed after reporting earnings Wednesday afternoon. (Microsoft is both a major investor in and a provider of cloud-computing services to OpenAI.)

"Collaborators" would imply they were one of us. They would be better understood as the 'good cop' faction of the occupiers.

The entire western world is complicit in Gaza's genocide and supporting Israel. Some are just better and more convincing at pretending they care about Palestinians than others. The actions (and lack thereof) tell the real story very clearly though.

Microsoft is just profiting off of it.

Canada has changed some of it's international student policies and a whole shitload of international students are not getting in. This headline is a great example of propaganda. I agree that Canada should take a more definitive stand and not the wishy-washy stand they've been taking, but this post is intentionally misleading.

Uh huh, isn't that normal for rich people? Laws only apply to the plebs, no?
in reply to Phoenixz

It's the status quo but it should still be scrutinized and this incident wasn't widely known before.

So they think they'll bomb and invade Iran and knock out its government, then the people will take to the streets and greet them as liberators? Maybe with flowers? I think I've heard this one before somewhere.
in reply to floofloof

Trump will hope that Iran will collapse after a limited missile strike and the angry mobs will do the rest. It won't be simple and it's obvious he's delayed the attack so far.
in reply to floofloof

Nah. Trump will bomb a couple of random Iranian targets, claim that the grand-pumbah of islam was killed and then he'll declare victory and leave, just like last time. Iran will shoot 1000+ missiles at Israel, Israel will spend $200million of US military AID to blow up 90% of the missiles and the remaining missiles will kill 17 people and then Iran will declare victory. Israel will sortie 2 American f-16's to blow up some long abandon "nuclear sites," and then Benjamin will get his propaganda win.

At the end of the day a few billion dollars will be wasted, and literally nothing of substance will happen.

in reply to PowerCrazy

Don't count on it being so easy. Israel won't shoot down 90% of missiles. Remember that last year Iran warned israel and told them where the missiles were coming from. This time it could be all-out war, with iran using its newest missile tech.
in reply to davel

Well, they released more Epstein files damning the president, and he tried “kill an American citizen” last week and is still dealing with that fallout, so yes, he may try to create a distraction somewhere else in the world this weekend.

It stresses me out that Canadians are still going to the Untied States like everything is normal. In September someone told me they went to Disneyland in the summer and I don't think it had occurred to her that there was any reason why she shouldn't
in reply to FreshParsnip

Any Canadian still going to the Fourth Reich (unless it is a life or death situation) is an open supporter of fascism. Every dollar spent there funds and gives moral support to Nazis. Unfortunately too many people have zero social or class consciousness.
in reply to FreshParsnip

Well I have heard from several Canadians "You aren't in danger if you are White, everything is normal outside of the protests, so it's fine" and my response is "even more reason not to go, we shouldn't be supporting any of that"

I'll be honest, I feel this meme better describes neolib politicians here in Europe.

The blatant disregard or lack of training on the Jay treaty needs to be fixed. These people have the legal right to both travel and work freely. This is something that isn’t even up for debate.

Unfortunately, treaties and the like are only as good as the good faith effort to both enforce them and understand them.

It’s one of many cogs in the machine that are breaking down right now. We have lots of things to address in the current political climate, of course, but this is one more thing that we’re going to need to add to the list of cog mending…

I dont see this as black and white at all. What alternative is there to un? Now dont get me wrong, the real role of un and the one it ought to have have little in common, but still I wouldnt argue for its end, now that it could help against israel, in whatever small way it can. Also idk why should it become better for states outside of global north, I dont see any indication.

The UN.Security Council approved Trumps board of peace and Riviera plan in Gaza.

That was one of the last nails in the coffin.

How to organize your local media library?

I am searching dor some form of software that I can use to watch all the different media I have stored locally, similar to Jellyfin. However the Problem is, that I do not have a dedicated media server (yet), so I am searching for something that I can use like Jellyfin, but that just runs locally. Everything that I have found is aimed at media servers. Do you have any suggestions?
in reply to D06M4

Im using OpenSuse, but after someone made me aware, that I can in fact run jellyfin on my local machine and just run the server when needed, already installed jellyfin (since im planning on hosting it on my soon to be server, so might as well get some practice using it.

Self-driving cars, autonomous robots and drones, and other AI systems can get hijacked by custom road signs

  • Researchers demonstrate that misleading text in the real-world environment can hijack the decision-making of embodied AI systems without hacking their software.
  • Self-driving cars, autonomous robots and drones, and other AI systems that use cameras may be vulnerable to these attacks.
  • The study presents the first academic exploration of environmental indirect prompt injection attacks against embodied AI systems.

The policy that allows faith-based health-care providers to ban medical assistance in dying in their facilities is being tested now in B.C. Supreme Court. The plaintiffs want to see the policy struck down so patients don't have to transfer to another facility in the final moments of their lives.

If it's their dying wishes why make that harder for them? I suppose people will have to start considering the views of their faith in their final years.

in reply to trashcan

If your faith prevents your compassion, then your faith is wrong.
