With the recent "spotify hack", can one now easily get songs from that hack?
So, there was a "spotify hack" recently, from Anna's Archive, as we all know. My question is:
- Has the songs from that hack been made available? Can one easily get these songs? Say, I want song X from artist Y. Can I search and download?
There's a lot of Japanese stuff on nyaa. They even have a lossless audio section. Lossy is usually 128k or 320k mp3. I do lossy myself, but I encode to m4a low-complexity 192k (the highest option it has). So I grab lossless and encode to my settings, then use mp3tag for perfect metadata control (free for you Windows guys; $30 on Mac). Then it's a unique file. Can still be sonically identified, but so can the tracks you legit ripped from CD, so that doesn't matter.
Also collect Japanese music, mostly j-rock.

Furthermore 96kbps is more than enough for casual listeners. You may hear a difference but most people wont care tbh.
As far as I know what they archived was not MP3 compressed but rather opus or ogg.

Davos Never Learns: The Cluelessness of the Powerful - Sinopsis
A healthy dose of hypocrisy remains the surest path to acclaim at gatherings of the global elite.karina (AcaMedia z.Ćŗ.)
Lots of wrong in this article.
Also I see you've reached for another sockpupet today Scotty. I haven't seen it frequenting !Canada before. It's usually performing in lemmy.world.
Ah yes, the Davos Elite, the usual conspiracy scapegoats.
The same group that is organizing the "You will Own Nothing" plot and force you to eat bugs and be locked up in your 15 minute prison.
Lots of topics are brought up at the WEF. Even Trump's word salad of a "speech" got polite applause from those who stayed to the end but I doubt the Davos Elite agreed with his message that the USA needs full ownership of Greenland and Europe can't function without the USA.
Can someone define the differences/commonalities between the Davos Elite and the Laurentian Elite? Is Trudeau the common factor? It's hard for me to keep up with the conspiracy villains.
Freshly re-approved CPC leader Pierre Poilievre will protect Canada from the globalist WEF elites:
Is there any Fediverse project aimed at creating a safe space for kids to interact within?
cross-posted from: lemmy.world/post/42450990
Features I can think of:
- a system for stricter content moderation, especially something that would automatically delete NSFW/NSFL posts,
- no direct messaging,
- some kind of tool for moderators to efficiently review content,
- multi-layered access to an account to allow for parental control,
- time management tool that would not be based on the client, but with the session duration calculated through interactions.
like this
What do you expect that to do, on a technical level?
Because if all you want to do is the societal result, you can use any existing backend and configure it to disable federation except with other servers with the same goal. Unclear what you are trying to achieve.
like this
Well, already knowing if anything like what you described exists it would be great.
Also, maybe an application or instances that would have implemented:
- a system for stricter content moderation, especially something that would automatically delete NSFW/NSFL posts,
- no direct messaging,
- some kind of tool for moderators to efficiently review content,
- multi-layered access to an account to allow for parental control,
- time management tool that would not be based on the client, but with the session duration calculated through interactions.
Thanks for your observation, I will add these ideas to the post description.
There isn't, the only posibility is creating an own instance of Mastodon or whatever, where you can implement the corresponding rules and filters for kids.
The fediverse as such can't never be safe for kids, due to it's own structure if safe instances are federated with such which are not family safe.

Alternatively social media, specific for kids
internetmatters.org/resources/ā¦
It is always needed to educate the kids about the risks and for an correct and safe behavior in the network, using safe search engines, eg.SwissCows, private and family safe by design.

I sometimes point to the F35 sales as an example of what it means to be an America ally, as China would never sell this level of weaponry to anybody.

UK police to use AI facial recognition tech linked to Israelās war on Gaza
The United Kingdomās controversial rollout of facial recognition technology will rely on software that appears to have already been deployed in Gaza, where it is used by the Israeli army to track, trace, and abduct thousands of Palestinian civilians passing through checkpoints.
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood announced on Monday that British police would massively increase the use of facial recognition technology used for surveillance purposes.

Caitlin Johnstone: "Why Don't You Criticize Iran??"
I donāt criticize Iran because I do not want to feed into an imperial war propaganda campaign for a horrific agenda that I do not support. I want to focus my criticisms on the power structure under which I actually live, because that is what one does when one is not a groveling bootlicker, and because the power structure under which I live happens to be the most abusive tyrant on the world stage.

Yep. I never knew much about him until now. He writes a lot about consciousness but the stereotype is that he writes about aliens and UFOs and weird conspiracy stuff. His book The Trigger is about 2 bibles thick and it covers a lot. Starting with the backgrounds of Cheney and Rumsfeld. Much of the book reads like investigative journalism. He sought information and points out contradictions in official statements.
At my local library we have 3 copies for the city and all 3 copies of Icke's book are currently in use. Somebody just put a hold on a copy so I'm going to return my copy. Pretty popular book, surprisingly.

Ottawa is giving greenhouses a tax break. Will it help lower food prices?
Albertaās greenhouse industry says a new federal tax program could make expansion easier, but it might not help to lower food prices.
Ottawa announced Monday it will allow producers who buy or build new facilities to more quickly write off the cost of capital expansions on their taxes ā a change from the current rules that limit write-offs to 10 per cent each year.
That could improve cash flow projections, perhaps tipping the scale in a projectās business case.
But tomato, cucumber and pepper producers stress that operating costs have a bigger impact on food prices than capital costs.

Feels like a big opportunity for the NDP, honestly. Also a necessity. Carney will expire at some point and PP could win as "the only realistic option." Kinda how Ford won in Ontario in election after election against lame ducks. I'm not comparing Ford's political charisma to PP at all, but in a Wynne-like Liberal meltdown scenario, PP might win. Which is why it's very important that we choose a decent leader fot the NDP and strenghten the party for the next election.

Carney won the last election because enough voters from the Bloc and NDP base wanted PP to lose so bad that they voted Liberal even though they were due to lose.
tempest
in reply to Darkcoffee • • •Unfortunately he is pretty young so if the cons keep him around long enough he will get his turn when the electorate tires of the liberals and the left vote splits.
FPTP is a garbage system.
Soup
in reply to tempest • • •Yup. All we got was PP, or the Conservative party at least, getting a win after becoming even more extreme and Carney, someone who has absolutely proven that he does not care about the working class, as the leader of the country.
Insane that we always tell ourselves that itās the left that needs to give up their beliefs to bolster the center and never the the center that needs to grow a spine and support the left.
I voted NDP, and Iām going to keep doing it. The Liberals do not represent me in the slightest and will not get the benefit of my voice.

in reply to Darkcoffee • • •I know this is not what people like you want to hear but that was never going to happen. Ontario literally voted down changes to that in a referendum not too long before 2015.
If you want to see actual electoral reform it's better to start at the bottom so the electorate is forced to interact with it. Municipal elections are easier to influence and don't have so many competing parties that benefit from different systems. We were poised to do this in Ontario but Doug has rolled that back for obvious reasons.

in reply to Peppycito • • •There's a lot like you. I'm going to admit that I've been voting Liberal for a few years now. I voted conservative for probably 20 years, but there's been a big shift in my voting because there's been a big shift in partisan politics in this country. Never fathomed the day I'd be voting NDP or Liberal when I was younger, but here we are. And it's not like I'm really all that Liberal or all that NDP (I'm not NDP leaning really at all - except I'm in Alberta so provincially we only effectively have two choices).
The conservatives, especially at the federal and (Alberta) provincial level are just way too gross for me though. And even if they eject the radicals at some point, I just don't trust them now. It's party rule by memes, insults, slogans, corruption and borderline racism/facism.
I'm glad 87% of partisan bootlickers voted for this guy. Because there's really not many others that will in the broader elections. I wouldn't say he's closing ground either, if anything he's furthering the gap. So this is all a weird strategy for Conservatives, at least in my irrelevant opinion.
