Is it possible to sort out news

I know this is a broad question, and dont expect to be able to filter everything. Is there a way to filter out news on Lemmy so I can just scroll saving my mental health at times?
in reply to SpacePanda

Yes, you can block users, communities, or use the subscribed view and don't subscribe to them.

It's a YAAMT!

Coded by a raging cryptofash, of course, LMBO!

That's whats great about the Fediverse. It's very simple to move to another instance. May I suggest Lemmy?

Ukrainian Drone Strike Kills Woman and Child Near Mariupol

We, on the other hand, don't accept Russian troops in a sovereign Ukraine.
And actually don't accept Putin in general.
in reply to Flying_Lynx

Damn, Russia somehow didn't account for that. Guess more war is in order.

While it is terrible that they will deport over 427 points when she needed 428, the article says she can retest for several hundred dollars. They claim that is too much to come up with, but are looking to put money together as they are forced to fly back.

This doesn't make sense to me.

Borrow a few hundred and do a rewrite to save your livelyhood.

She must be good enough at French, she did her masters degree in the French language.

It costs more for a flight to Mexico than a retest. Something is off here.
in reply to Em Adespoton

If they are going to the media, they probably have a hidden motive to do so.

While Colín Silva has the option of taking the exam again, she says it costs hundreds of dollars to complete and that is money she and her family cannot spare.

Her family is currently struggling to find the means to pay their rent in Quebec City and to pay for plane tickets to return to Mexico.

Out of money for the retake, rent, or plane tickets back. Sounds like they're just totally out of money.

“I don’t want to speak poorly of a country that welcomed me, but I find this really inhumane,” she said. “It’s as though we are garbage.”

I'm not seeing anything insulting about the government's position. There's a language requirement. They knew that. It sounds like the first test taking may have been free, but on failed tests, the followups have fee. Where are they being treated like garbage?

Maybe in the sense of the word Gabage "being thrown away / cast aside", rather than meaning of "purposeful harsh treatment from others"

The Donroe Doctrine and the Naked Imperialism of the Venezuela Intervention

in reply to khalido

I dropped it after the devs response was to be silent about what actually happened "to focus on the f-froid builds". It's still unclear, and because of the way they've set up the GitHub repo, it's still possible for the apk to be compromised.

Works also on handhelds since it has gamepad controls unlike revanced

Class action lawsuit filed against Hydro-Québec after Montreal west-end power outage

in reply to pedz

Hydro-Québec knew that the substation was failing as early as 2018 and chose to keep it running despite its known condition this is a gross negligence that Hydro Quebec should be held accountable for it especially during -35 degree Celsius .
in reply to mrdown

We were without power for 48 hours. We were lucky enough to have a generator, I spent probably about $60 on fuel to keep my unit just barely above zero (heater said 3 degrees celsius).

People fled to their friends and families. Two elderly people died. Many more had nowhere to go and suffered.

As you said, HQ knew this substation was failing for years, and chose to do nothing until people died. And even then, I'm not sure they're gonna learn anything from this event.

Plenty of anarchists have the exact same position as the US regime when it comes to western adversaries like China.
