Don't worry! AI will just generate a solution to solve the climate crisis, right guys? /s
in reply to bastionntb

I appreciate the /s, the sad fact is that we don't need AI to figure out a 'solution' for climate change, we already know how to do that, the issue is the lack of political will to curb emissions, which is not something AI can fix.
in reply to noorbeast

AI can fix it if we make it a politician, seeing as it agrees we should've started acting on climate change 10 times harder, and 10-20 years earlier than we did.
in reply to bastionntb

Well...right now it's being used to cheat on homework and generate infinite anime tiddies...so just a matter of time, I guess?
in reply to bastionntb

If you ask AI if it should just be banned to remove any climate concerns it agrees.

Apparently its because calls arent really ready to be used outside element yet, fractal has a good chance of supporting it once matrix 2.0 is out.

So what? Is the US Government going to prohibit Nvidia and AMD from using TSMC's chips to make money for Big Tech so they can keep on their ~~corruption~~ lobbying over the US Gov? I highly doubt it. It's just smoke and mirrors, as usual.

sounds great.

I'm going to stick with `thread` and `root`.

They're already namespaced, and these are clear terms for these concepts.

Thanks for the help with additional use cases on forking and grafting. I'm going to add some explicit user stories to the FEP and show how each one can be handled.

in reply to Evan Prodromou

One thing to note: If the AS2 context extension policy ever gets adopted and these terms likewise get adopted into the w3.org/ns/activitystreams context document via that process (or any other process), then this creates an issue for any other case where someone wants to use the plain-JSON keys `thread` and `root`.

in reply to sij

Sadly not for me 😔
in reply to sij

How did you get a .law TLD for this? I thought ICANN had this one restricted to verified law firms?
in reply to Chozo

The law office of People, Human, and Homosapian.
in reply to Chozo

It should be restricted. I wonder if the host is a lawyer.
in reply to roofuskit

Yes the host (me) is a lawyer.

Amazon AWS CEO: Quit if you don't want to return to office

One of Amazon's (AMZN.O) top executives defended the new, controversial 5-day-per-week in-office policy on Thursday, saying those who do not support it can leave for another company.

Speaking at an all-hands meeting for AWS, unit CEO Matt Garman said nine out of 10 workers he has spoken with support the new policy, which takes effect in January, according to a transcript reviewed by Reuters.

Those who do not wish to work for Amazon in-office five days per week can quit, he suggested.

in reply to geneva_convenience

This was always what he intended. Get people to quit instead of paying redundancy when he has to reduce the work force. Classic stuff done by many big orgs over the years. Make the place shit to work at and people quit for you.
in reply to mub

Good for the market i guess, since mostly people who have it easy tho find a new job (highly qualified) leave that way.

After Israel Kills Hamas Leader, D.C. Pushes to Hand Palestine to Saudi Arabia

This entry was edited (1 year ago)
in reply to geneva_convenience

You'd have to pay KSA double their oil money to take Palestine.

Probably better luck convincing Egypt or Iraq to take if we're actually gonna go down this utterly stupid route.

Also Hamas doesn't even have proper C&C. On top of the reality thay this isn't a videogame, practically nothing will change.

in reply to geneva_convenience

Yesterday i was listening to someone on yt that there was a leaked document that seems to indicate Saudi's have been involved in this conflict for a while now. I think the guest who was talking about this was "sami hamdi".

This just gives more credibility to that document.

Lemmy Development Update 2024-10-18

Here is our regular update that explains what we have been working on for the past two weeks. This should allow average users to keep up with development, without reading Github comments or knowing how to program.

Support development

@dessalines and @nutomic are working full-time on Lemmy to integrate community contributions, fix bugs, optimize performance and much more. This work is funded exclusively through donations.

If you like using Lemmy, and want to make sure that we will always be available to work full time building it, consider donating to support its development. Recurring donations are ideal because they allow for long-term planning. But also one-time donations of any amount help us.

in reply to Nutomic

Did the update break/remove post scores?

in reply to ShinkanTrain

We haven't done any releases yet, but no post scores will still be okay.

I'll probably get downvoted for saying this, but as a transhumanist the potential for this kind of technology is huge.

It's expensive now, but 20 years ago it cost $2.7 billion to sequence a full human genome, now it's around $600. Imagine a world where this process is inexpensive and easily available.

in reply to RobotToaster

So let's pretend that IQ is a reasonable measure of intelligence. Do you think that it may be related to undesirable traits?
in reply to RobotToaster

You're just unabashedly supporting eugenics? Is that because you're too young, or too uneducated to know any better?

Wonder IF this is better than Ultrasonic.
Had been a while since it was updated.

Let's see.

Good to see more love to subsonic servers for the homelabbers.

I've been following a lot of these, and unfortunately nearly all of them are dead.

  • YouAmp - Alive, jetpack compose + material v3, but very early in development. Barely any features. Probably our best hope for the future of these.
  • Tempo - The best current option, but dead for ~6 months. Has a few bugs, but lots of features. Java, not kotlin, but appears to be material 3.
  • Ultrasonic - Great option, lots of features, but dead for ~a year.
  • Dsub - Dead for 2 years, but revived now with a few bug fixes via this one. Doesn't have much of a future, not being jetpack compose / m3.
  • Subtunes - Dead for 2+ years.
