Discontinuing syncthing-android
Reason is a combination of Google making Play publishing something between hard and impossible and no active maintenance. The app saw no significant development for a long time and without Play releases I do no longer see enough benefit and/or have enough motivation to keep up the ongoing maintenance an app requires even without doing much, if any, changes.
Sad to see it go. There is a fork but seems not so great considering they are looking for active maintainer. Still better than nothing. Need to check it out as it has some enhancements.

Wait, so theoretically, you could create a blog, and create a Lemmy instance/community, post a blog entry, have it auto post the blog entry to your instance, and now the Lemmy comments for the Lemmy post are the comments on the blog post? Do I have that right?
And in theory THIS comment should show up on your blog, yes?

Could you make a community, and a bot? The bot would look for any post on your blog, then the bot creates a post in that community that uses the blog post title as the lemmy title, and uses the blog body as the post body.
Then the bot tells your blog the url of the lemmy post to use the lemmy comments.
Then, I see the button that says "load lemmy comments". Maybe your bot also creates a mastodon using the title of the blog post as a link to the blog post. Then any mastodon replies to that mastodon post could be under a different button that just says "Load Mastodon replies".
So at the end of your blog you have "Load Lemmy comments" (just as we see here) but next to it is "Load Mastodon replies".
And all of this, is done by you just posting once to the blog, while the bots do everything else in an instant.
You just post once on the blog, and automatically a Lemmy post is created which is a duplicate of the blog post, the lemmy comments are loaded via a button on the blog automatically, a Mastodon post is created which is just a link to the blog using that posts title as the clickable link, AND a button on the blog is created to see Mastodon replies to the mastodon post.
Everything besides the innitial blog post is automatic.
Is that possible?

I considered implementing Lemmy comments and theorised I'd post to my own community/instance so I had full moderation control, then cross post that to all the relevant communities.

Neat. It took me a while to realise what was going on: the post on Lemmy and the blogpost are two separate entities. The Lemmy post is a link to the blogpost, and the blogpost uses the post_id to fetch the comments (so I guess this means you have to make the blogpost, make the Lemmy post, and then go back and edit the blogpost with the correct id?)
The script is inspectable on the blog - I can see it does:const url = 'https://lemmy.ml/api/v3/comment/listpost_id=21617067&limit=100&max_depth=8&sort=Top&type_=All';
So I suppose there's an inbuilt limit for comment depth and number of replies, but if you start down the road of working on that, you'll eventually find that you've re-invented a front-end, and there's no end to it.
What the duckquill guys are doing is a bit fudgy, in that they're getting another website to do the federation legwork for them, but the results are pleasing enough.
Lol, don't blame the duckquill dev, he only wrote the mastodon one, which I don't use. This is all me.

Yeah, I kinda chose the limits arbitrarily, but I don't expect them to be an issue anytime soon.
This setup is also more flexible. I can in the future add comments from multiple lemmy posts, as well as other completely different sites.

Alright! Found the issue! I was trying to access the community as domain.tld@domain.tld, when it's actually what I set to be the blog's profile itself.
Ie, I set the blog's profile to all@domain.tld, the relevant community is all@domain.tld

as well as directly telling the user what community and instance the comments hail from - even before loading the content.
Well I'd have to load something to show this, unless I set it manually, which would be cumbersome.

I haven't been in development for nearly 20 years now, but I assumed it worked like that:
You generate unit tests for a very specific function of rather limited magnitude, then you let AI generate the function. How could this work otherwise?
Bonus points if you let the AI divide your overall problem into smaller problems of manageable magnitudes. That wouldn't involve code generation as such...
Am I wrong with this approach?
The complexity here lies in having to craft a comprehensive enough spec. Correctness is one aspect, but another is performance. If the AI craps out code that passes your tests, but does it in really inefficient way then it's still a problem.
Also worth noting that you don't actually need AI to do such things. For example, Barliman is a tool that can do program synthesis. Given a set of tests to pass, it attempts to complete the program for you. Synthesis is performed using logic programming. Not only is it capable of generating code, but it can also reuse code it's already come up with as basis for solving bigger problems.

It seems interesting, but at the same time the demos all seem to feature presses/simple gestures like stroking an object. The article's title however, at least in my opinion, implies something along the lines as we see in capacitive displays, mainly a touchpad.
Interesting tech nonetheless! Especially the plant example seems interesting, as it implies that interactions can also occur on less conventional surfaces.

I had a Chinese Android box gathering dust in a drawer. It had been sidelined because it was stuck on an outdated version of Android, with no updates in sight from the manufacturer. I started considering alternatives like a Raspberry Pi or a budget x86 mini PC to set up a PVR with TVheadend. But before placing an order, I wondered if I could repurpose the Android box as a Linux server. After all, it had decent specs: an Amlogic S905X2 chip, 4 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of internal storage.
A quick search revealed that it was possible to boot Linux on the box using a microSD card or USB stick. Within an hour, I had CoreELEC up and running. One of the great things about CoreELEC is the ease with which you can install Docker and TVheadend. This meant that my forgotten Android box was now transformed into a functional Linux server.
I hooked up a TV tuner (yes, I'm aware it's not exactly cutting-edge, but I need OTA TV for work) and installed TVheadend. It essentially turned the box into a budget-friendly HDHomeRun. I even set up AdGuard Home and configured my router to use it as a network-wide ad blocker.
Once you have Docker running, the possibilities are endless. To my surprise, I even discovered that you can boot Armbian on these inexpensive boxes and use them as a lightweight desktop. Or turn them into a router or pihole box using openwrt.

I use old android phones for WiFi on some of my desktops.
Shizuku to be able to do privileged, shell, and hidden api stuff.
Termux to set up an sshd proxy/server to be able to access the machines.
InviziblePro for anonymized DNScrypt and tor socks proxy.
I had a similar experience with a "wow the Linux community is beautiful" feeling after booting into Debian on an old rockchip CPU TV box !
Have a look at the armbian community. Those guys are on another level 😁.

A 24-year-old man who assaulted a female convenience store clerk in the southeastern city of Jinju last year, calling her a "feminist" due to her short hair, has been sentenced to three years in prison in his appeal trial.
The court recognized the attack as a "misogynistic crime," marking the first time in South Korea that misogyny was acknowledged as a motive in a criminal ruling. The victim, who lost her hearing due to the attack, expressed relief at the "meaningful ruling."
The Changwon District Court's criminal division upheld Wednesday the original three-year sentence for the attacker, 24, citing "groundless hatred toward women" as the motive behind the crime.
The incident occurred in April last year, when the 24-year-old assaulted a female part-time worker at a convenience store in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province, because of her short hairstyle, calling her a "feminist."

This sounds unbelievable, like the turning of a ship to avoid an iceberg. It's an unbelievably light sentencing, showcasing the country's lack of interest in protecting women's rights while declaring the intent to do so in the ruling.
If my partner was attacked, lost her hearing and had to attend court multiple times to defend her rights to safety, and the perpetrator got 3 years? I'd be furious.
I know she'd be devastated. The times she felt unsafe already leave such a big impact, let alone a realised attack.
Anyway. I do hope it's just a positive sign, that all it will take is a bit more time. I want to believe it's positive. But it's wild to compare what I'd like to believe as obvious human rights; to not be attacked to the point of disability from an unprovoked human, then believe in the justice system in arrears to punish and (theoretically) prevent.
Anyway, long rant. Processing it because I probably believed Korea was better than that. Not all the humans, just at least the culture and law.
Googling about sentencing for assault I found this "A person who uses violence against another shall be punished by imprisonment for not more than two years, a fine not exceeding 5 million won, detention, or a minor fine."
So in that context 3 years being a 50% increase over the otherwise 2 year maximum seems fair enough to me.

It's great, I've used it a lot.
Specially with relatives. It also lists 'Display', and shows how much your screen use was draining that new phone. I had to explain this to a friend recently, with their new phone. They thought it might be defective. It wasn't.

It moves the sync options into each sync folder/job. Lots more flexible. Now my photos sync on any network and any charge state, while less important things (downloads, etc) only sync when on WiFi and charging.
