North Carolina calculates at least $53 billion price tag for Hurricane Helene damages

Fattigdom ligger bakom ungdomsbrottslighet. Att begå brott är mycket vanligt bland ungdomar. I den senaste skolundersökningen om brott uppgav drygt hälften av alla ungdomar (51,3%) att de begått brott under de senaste 12 månaderna.

I've always wondered what's the use of a download manager, especially on a smartphone. What's your use case?
in reply to peregus

Firefox's default in-built download manager is hot garbage. It is so much more reliable to download multiple large files at once with a resource-friendly download manager.
in reply to peregus

I've always found download managers to be faster than browsers in downloading

Unfortunately alternative are closed source (ADM , IDM ) , I've heard that free download manager was open source but even if it's still , I won't recommend it because it was reported that it redirected Linux users to malicious links

No Man's Sky: Prepare for an Eerie Expedition with The Cursed Update - Xbox Wire

The Cursed! This free content update for all owners will be available to play starting this week on October 23, 2024, and will last through to November 6, 2024
in reply to cosmicrookie

Could someone eli5 to me old fart why it's a good idea to restrict content to a certain time?
Increase engagement, OK, but why so much effort to create content that disappears after two weeks?
in reply to datendefekt

To be clear, all the content isn’t actually restricted to a certain time, but playing the associated story or mission with that content is. For example, the last update was about fishing, and fishing is now part of the game which you could do at any time, but you can’t catch the mission specific fish.

With that said, I do feel like it would be better if I could play any expedition missions when I feel like it.

This is what killed GW2 for me. Go offline for a month and you'll miss shit forever. Otherwise great game, but I hated how episodic the story was.
in reply to 5PACEBAR

Oh, nice. How does it work now? Can you hop around between different gamestates, or are they just done putting out new stuff and the game stays as-is going forward?
in reply to Sterile_Technique

You can activate episodic content as you like and jump around between seasons. It's tied to the expansion so you buy it = you get the content. This is mostly story but some features / horizontal progression is locked until you complete it. I prefer that over the "you needed to be there when it was free now you have to pay" approach.
in reply to 5PACEBAR

Yeah that sounds reasonable. Well shit, GW2 is back on my list! ...I'm balls-deep into nursing school right now, so probably not a great time to dive into ANY game that'll keep me distracted for longer than like a 10 min study break... which is the opposite of what an MMO is lol. But, bookmarked in brain.
in reply to cosmicrookie

I've wanted this game for so long. I'm just too unsure if its worth the tag on steam. I've heard it was monotonous, is this true? Has it came a long way?
in reply to OhVenus_Baby

It’s well worth it. The game has come a long way and continues to go. So many free updates
in reply to OhVenus_Baby

It's on sale rn on steam for the lowest it's ever been. I bought it a while back and I liked it but not as much as I thought I would. But honestly it's still a good purchase. A game that keeps getting free updates and more content is great and I love booting the game up every once in a while to check it out

in reply to John

The concern for code duplication is valid, but as the article mentioned it is also a while off until the Nova project is mainlined. I honestly never thought of how the work to bring in Rust to mainline may in effect lead to a more complete deprecation of older hardware as we start to change API's older/unmaintained components aren't updated. On the flip side, trimming out older stuff might save maintainer work going forward.

Man, I miss Humble Bundle from before it sold out to IGN.
in reply to grue

Tell me about it. Now they're just Steam Key Reseller #46498.
in reply to grue

I miss being excited to check the first of every month to see what game partnerships they would do and there would be fantastic bundle deals.

Now its just crap game resale, and all the "bundles" are comprised of freetoplay or previously on sale garbage.

in reply to grue

I miss even earlier days. Good times.

But can't argue that I've been saving a lot since I can just pass every bundle now.

in reply to mr_MADAFAKA

Clever, since checking Steam reviews for SteamDeck compatibility has definitely slowed down my impulse game purchases.

A good way to test is to see if the noise is the same on all RGB layers. Don't know if that still works if it's been screenshotted or reposted a bunch though

Vad är skillnaden mellan ett krigsbrott, terrordåd, och terrorbrott? Tyckte hela det stycket var svårt att förstå.
in reply to Mayobrot 🇵🇸

PipeWire 1.2.6 released

reshared this

in reply to petsoi

PipeWire is a server and user space API to deal with multimedia pipelines. This includes:
  • Making available sources of video (such as from a capture devices or application provided streams) and multiplexing this with clients.
  • Accessing sources of video for consumption.
  • Generating graphs for audio and video processing.

Nodes in the graph can be implemented as separate processes, communicating with sockets and exchanging multimedia content using fd passing.

Good human ;)

It'd be really helpful if these kind of posts would have such description at the title.

I just want the Steam and ... button to also work in desktop mode. I'd hack it into the kernel driver to map them to the super key in lizard mode if I could understand it properly. Unfortunately I don't have the energy to read the code.

Now I wonder what would happen if someone were to submit such a change to the Linux kernel. Would Valve try to fight it or work with it?
