RQuickShare - Rust implementation of NearbyShare/QuickShare from Android for Linux and macOS

I have always been struggling to move big files from my Android phone to my Linux laptop. KDE connect is kind of working but is kind of cumbersome to set up on gnome with the extension that every now and then is incompatible. It also often loses the connection and you need to set it up again and then you forgot how to even get the UI for it because it's not an app but a gnome extension, etc. very cumbersome.

But I just saw that every android phone already has QuickShare build in to the sharing button. And now I saw that there is a Linux implementation of it and it's super nice that it's just an app. It looks a bit awkward because it's not a gnome application but other than that it works really nice.

How frustrating it may be as an UN peacekeeper. You have deadly weapon, but cannot use it.
Even as a warning: don't approach us, don't destroy our vicinity.

I've worked the video game industry and I'll point out a few things.

Trump was president before, and imposed this tariff before. Console and peripheral prices did not go up. There were specific meetings discussing this, and nobody raised prices.

Not that it necessarily will be the same thing this time around, but look at the current prices of things like PS+ and the PS Pro - before tariff increases - and realize if they want to increase prices on you they just will. They aren't looking for an excuse.

Additiinally, the amount of shenanigans that transpires with the video game industry is crazy. The amount of PS4 consoles sold in Canada would mean every single household would have 3.5 consoles in it. Spoiler, they don't, all the consoles were sold into the US at cheaper prices because of the dollar conversion rate. They Gray market is the step child nobody wants to talk about, but they love the added sales numbers. It will continue to exist and balance out the market.

I built a gaming PC during the Trump administration, I had to order the CPU from an ebay seller in Korea because there were none in North America and the GPU i took out of my father's old Dell because there were none to be had at all retail.

I built a PC earlier this year and the case I wanted was out of stock everywhere but everything else was really in stock.

xfce, mpv: media title scrolling in the panel.

gitlab.com/christosangel/genmo…

This project is created for use with the xfce desktop environment, and the mpv media player.

With the use of the Generic Monitor panel plugin, it displays scrolling the name of the file or the stream playing with mpv.

If another instance of mpv starts playing, genmon-mpv will display the most recently opened title of file/stream.

As soon as an mpv instance displayed is closed, and another previous instance is still open, genmon-mpv will display the title of the still open file/stream.

This project is consisted of two scripts, one in bash, and one in lua.
Any feedback is most welcome.

Fascism wins by appealing to real demands, not only hatred and fear

It's important to keep in mind that fascists appeal to real demands, not only hatred and fear as Georgi Dimitrov explains. Today, fascists portray themselves as a champions of those left out of the post-industrial economy, as a voice for workers who saw their jobs outsourced and their communities devastated. If socialists are to be succeed then they need to focus on having an economic vision that inspires people and that's able to counter right wing narrative.

Apocalyptic Zionists like Biden just want to see the world burns. He might still get to see Jesus second coming before he dies.

It's possible to submit questions already. Getting a feeling there'll be some uncomfortable ones; we'll see if they dare to engage with those.

A lot of the frustration that people have stems from Firefox's deeply flawed financing model, whereby the focus can never be solely put on the quality of the browser.
Personally, with Google now being recognized as a monopolist and Mozilla in danger of losing 85% of its funding, I hope they can adopt Thunderbird's financing model (i.e. donations).

Now that they're not doing fundraising for lawmaking and/or grassroots activism because their advocacy team shut down, I hope they'll get a few people together and start to raise money from the user base.

This could be a very positive change for Mozilla if they play it right.

So mozilla has now its own reddit like, at least does it federate?

Dear Mozilla Leadership Team:
Why do you keep making terrible leadership decisions?

Thanks, I was really wondering how that is possible from something tiny like a storm when usually it takes two black holes colliding

Have a downvote for the complete lack of context. What is this, why is it interesting to you?

All I see here is a lowest effort share of something that should probably just have been added to your personal reading list 🤷

Papers is shaping up to be a very nice application! Looking forward to seeing it replacing the standard Document Viewer.

It's not Trump the Europeans need to worry about, but their own politicians who made Europe a vassal of the US.
in reply to ☆ Yσɠƚԋσʂ ☆

Very true, I kinda hope trumps anti europe stance will push them away from the US.
