Saudi crown prince demands ceasefire, condemns Israel's war on Gaza as 'genocide'

Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called for immediate ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon at a joint Arab League and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation summit on Monday.

Mohammed bin Salman said the international community must "immediately halt the Israeli actions against our brothers in Palestine and Lebanon", condemning Israel's war on Gaza as "genocide".

On the one hand, I agree it's too little too late. On the other hand, I have to wonder why the shift from the status quo at all?

AI protein-prediction tool AlphaFold3 is now open source

it would seem that it's rather "open" to download the source code and access some data after signing in as a scientist. Far from fully open-source for an AI tool, by most of the definitions.

Dood, order everything on the app. You get stuff for free with points and can use deals for discounts. If you're paying full price for McD's ever, you're holding it wrong.

this is definitely hitting a fevered pitch; i've had relatives that i hadn't spoken to since i came out decades ago reach out to me for help for a friend and i'm proud of them for not shunning the migrants & refugees like too many of the mexicans like do and swallowing their pride to talk to me on someone else's behalf.

it's a pity that i'm leaving my job; the disgustingly fat paychecks would help A LOT rn.

"The Australian company has been working for years at Mali’s Syama gold mine, a large-scale operation in the country’s southwest. It holds an 80% stake in mine while the Malian government holds the remaining 20%."

I'm no expert but that seems like a terrible deal.

IDK I wouldn't really call it an electrostate at this point. It still relies on fossil fuels. It'll become one but it's just not the case right now.

Edit: like until China is producing so much green energy that it's selling significant amounts of green hydrogen and derived fuels to the rest of the world I think likening it to a petrostate is just incorrect.

China still uses fossil fuels, but I think it's fair to call it an electrostate at this point.

I enjoy her writing too. Her piece on the threat of Facebook entering the Fediverse does a great job of making the case.
