Hezbollah missile makes 'direct impact' in Tel Aviv

Missiles launched by Hezbollah achieved at least one “direct hit” in the greater Tel Aviv area late on 18 November after air defenses failed to intercept the barrage launched from Lebanon.

Impacts were reported by the Israeli municipalities of Bnei Brak and Ramat Gan, located just east of Tel Aviv. According to the military, only fragments of the missiles hit the populated areas, injuring at least five.

However, the district police commander for Ramat Gan told Israeli media that the damage in the city “is not fragments of an interceptor but a heavy missile hit.”

The impacts in Israel's economic hub came following a large missile barrage launched from Lebanon. According to reports in Israeli media, the projectile that bypassed air defense systems was the Fateh 110 surface-to-surface ballistic missile.

The Lebanese resistance's latest attack on Tel Aviv comes after the Israeli army significantly escalated its attacks across Lebanon, hitting the country over 300 times in the span of 48 hours.

Oh no, the predictable consequences of bombing civilians for 80 years, let's hope their defense systems continue to fail.

I just feel that it's technically wrong to call it x64. x86 is the architecture. The x belongs there, so x86-64 makes more sense, but not "x64". It's a marketing term, but it still bothers me.

DOJ to ask judge to force Google to sell off Chrome, Bloomberg News reports

The U.S. Department of Justice will ask a judge to force Alphabet's Google GOOGL.O to sell off its Chrome internet browser, Bloomberg News reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the plans.

The DOJ will also ask the judge, who ruled in August that Google illegally monopolized the search market, to require measures related to artificial intelligence and its Android smartphone operating system, the report said.

The DOJ declined to comment. Google, in a statement from Lee-Anne Mulholland, Vice President, Google Regulatory Affairs, said the DOJ is pushing a "radical agenda that goes far beyond the legal issues in this case," and would harm consumers.

If it happens, who would buy it? Amazon, M$? Much good that would do, just shift power from one giant to the next. Maybe if IBM bought it and ran it to the ground after a few years…

It sounds surprising given the headline, but looks quite reasonable when looking at the details in the article:
* The requirement is part of a tender for €1bn worth of grants to develop batteries. It only affect companies who engage in this tender.
* This is in part a response, at a smaller scale, to China's own regime that "pressures foreign companies into sharing their intellectual property in exchange for access to the Chinese market. "

"Paste as keystrokes" on linux?

This is one of the features I miss on Windows (github.com/Collective-Software…), I was wondering if there was an alternative to this for Linux?

Essentially instead of pasting all the text from your clipboard, it will type out the contents as though the letters were typed on the keyboard. One by one. This allowed me to "paste" into VMs and other places that I normally couldn't.

The ol' google gave me nothing but "How to paste into terminal" posts which is not what I want.

in reply to Jozzo

If you want to paste into VMs, you can use spice, or if there's no graphical environment in the VM then SSH into it and paste into your terminal
in reply to Jozzo

Espanso can do way more than just that, but it has a clipboard backend that you can use.

The IDF is allowing Gaza gangs to loot aid trucks and extort protection fees from drivers

The Israel Defense Forces is allowing armed Palestinians to loot aid convoys entering Gaza and to extort protection money from them, say sources in international aid organizations working in the enclave.

The sources told Haaretz that the armed men who belong to two clans from the Rafah district have blocked a large portion of the aid shipments entering Gaza through Israel's Kerem Shalom crossing.

The looting is systematic, they said, yet the IDF has turned a blind eye. And since some of the aid groups refuse to pay protection money, the aid often ends up sitting in warehouses that are under Israeli army control.

Any title like "The truth about X" is inherently clickbaity.

What truth? Click to find out!

You can't even tell if the video is going to be for or against "X" until you click it and watch for a bit.
