Since i bought my ink tank Brother over a year ago, i still haven't had to refill it. For my previous Canon Pixma it would have been at least 2-3 cartridges. I mean i don't print a lot, but I'm amazed at how much I've been printing with this thing.

Once it runs out, actually Brother original ink doesn't come that much pricier than unbranded, but I'll see my choices.

Disclosure of the Metaserver CDN Source Code · organicmaps · Discussion #9837

Organic Maps, a free offline maps app, faced a setback when contributor Alexandr Borsuk removed the MIT license, privatizing the repository and undermining open-source collaboration and the project's no-tracking values. A subsequent change enabled logging, further compromising privacy, all without discussion with other contributors.

Understanding the role of BRICS+ in global progress

This tutorial shows how to run docker natively on Android, without VMs and chroot.

I think Docker opens up a lot of ways to repurpose an old phone and turn it into a home server. The advantage over using something like RPi is that you have a touchscreen built in, making it much easier to troubleshoot without having to plug in a monitor and a keyboard.

Given how abundant old phones are, seems like it would be cool to have an Android distro specifically designed for this use case. Especially if you could plug in a USB hub for stuff like external storage.

SIM card for IoT?

Hello there,

Just wondering whether anyone can recommend a particular carrier/option/choice for a SIM card to use in IoT hardware?

UK networks only please!

in reply to thomas

I think some more information would be nice.

Is the device supposed to send or receive?

Data or simple messaging?

What kind of traffic do you expect? Streaming video or a few status messages a day.

in reply to breakcore

Fair point — data only, probably around 200mb a month? Planning to run a simple web server, nothing too heavy.
in reply to thomas

You can't expose ports on mobile data. You can ether host the web server at home or on a vps or use something like tailscale.
in reply to KaninchenSpeed

What about Cloudflare? You can tunnel to them instead of Tailscale's limited public serve
in reply to Daniel Phan

I'm not really a fan of cloudflare tunnels, but I guess thats an option too
in reply to thomas

Idk about the UK, but in Australia if you're only sending a small amount of data, some carriers offer IoT plans starting at ~$1/month. So maybe some carriers do the same in the UK?

in reply to MonkderVierte

That would certainly explain MAGA/Trump. I've been calling it a mental illness since 2015.

I have warned about this with respect to these numbers before, and I'm going to warn about them again: you really can't trust the employment numbers right now. The amount of downward revisions in the past 2 years is absurd, including one 800,000 job downward revision prior to the election. It's entirely possible and even probable that these numbers will be revised further downwards.

What I actually expect is for a lot of numbers to keep looking better than they really are until about January 20th. And then suddenly a whole bunch of stuff is going to end up looking the way it really is...

What the heck does that mean?
