So Thompson a murdered last week. The suspect has made his way to Altoona just over 200 miles.

And in those days and miles he didn't manage to get rid of evidence that would tie him to the killing?

That's pretty dumb.

If I was him I'd be assuming he would be caught anyways. Why else would have keep his manifesto on him?

Femme fatale! I wonder how this would have played out if it weren't for that girl at the hostel flirting with him, wanting to see the man behind the mask.

It is profoundly disturbing how much social media information the media just.... dumped out there. This could even be the wrong dude!

I would scour my presence from the internet if I thought it even mattered. I'm sure there are mirrors of everything I've ever posted or liked going all the way back to the early 2000s. Even if I deleted absolutely everything (that I could find) and 100% degoogled it probably wouldn't matter at all.

This is a very depressing article.

I'm so mad that my open source software made by a single developer in his free time who loves coding and helping other people is slightly worse in quality than a multi-million dollar dedicated project.

Perpetual licenses are dumb though. Software is a living breathing thing. Without developers it starts to die.

As Russia CANCELS U.S. Gas Punishments, France Faces Economic & Government Collapse

The title is weird because there are no link between what Russia did with the gaz and the collapse of French government, we don't even rely on Russia for our gas demand.

JWST is the 2021 James Webb Space Telescope, if, like me, you're not plugged into this stuff.

Excerpt:

It’s looking more and more like the universal expansion was different when it was young than it is now. When it was young it was denser, galaxies were closer together, and conditions were just different. We know that dark energy plays a huge role here, causing the expansion to speed up, but how it does that isn’t clear.

Don't be ridiculous - this is a lab environment, they can faithfully recreate the suffering as long as the ethics committee doesn't get notified.

I use free software. Is this for me or for the people who make free software and receive donations from people like me?

I've heard this is basically the same reason why autocad will never move away from their fucking terrible UI. Too many people have spent too many hours getting really good at using it, and the investment cliff is too big now.
