It's worth noting that we don't know exactly why they called the cops. It appears the cops didn't know who he was until they had him pull down his mask. I'm guessing he was quite the sight after several days on the run, and probably several nights without much sleep.

This doesn’t mean giving the FBI or other agencies a direct line into content, it means Meta, Apple and Google should have the means, the keys to provide content when warranted to do so by a court. Right now they cannot, Police chiefs and other agencies describe this situation as “going dark” and they want it to change.


If anyone has the ability to do that then it's not encrypted.

It also means that any "security" from China they're touting is bypassed by simpling gaining access to these backdoors and thus access to everything with no effort.

Salary only has meaning when contextualized against the cost of living. As a European, you don't worry about going bankrupt and ending up on the street if you get sick, you likely enjoy functional public transit, and so on.
