GE-Proton9-21 Released

in reply to reallykindasorta

And when you get really fed up with this bullshit and look for a way out, there aren't a lot of great options that medical training allows for but still pays med school debts. Guess what one of the few options is? Working for an insurance company and helping them deny claims. Fuuuuhhcck
in reply to reallykindasorta

A lot of doctors hate dealing with the insurance companies as much as we do. They have to deal with medical insurance on both sides.

They all get frustrated whenever they have to not help someone they're perfectly capable of helping

Indeed, this post was inspired by a friend who spends an inordinate amount of time off the clock trying to get charts into just so shape so that claims go through. The exact way they want you to phrase stuff and what tests they need to see in the chart before approval changes regularly so practices basically have to hire a dedicated staff to keep up and let the doctors know about changes. Also results in small practices being driven out of business.

That's why my old doctor opened up a concierge practice. You pay a yearly membership fee, a low office fee, then everything else is at cost.

In the UK, Trans Youth Left Out in the Cold by Labour Government — Assigned

in reply to Garibaldee

Like the US, they used the trans community as props and tossed them aside when they were done with them.

A bit, but it still doesn't explain how this warrants terrorism charges and $100,000 bail. A visit from the police and probation or anger management courses? OK I still don't really agree but it makes some sense. But not prison time. She's getting punished harder than many rapists and child molesters.

Why wouldn't an insinuation of terrorism warrant a terrorism charge and a lot of bail money? That doesn't make sense.

in reply to BonesOfTheMoon

Why wouldn't they be? The glamorizing of murderers, rapists, and other criminals in biopic miniseries seems to be a growing point of discussion over the past year or so.

Nah, I buy the cheap shit and just clone it. When it pops, I'll grab another one. Name brands are for suckers.
in reply to GHiLA

Also Silicon Power is practically a name brand at this point. I've had many and never an issue.

just like blaze storm, originated as a chinese nerf clone, became a blaster brand by itself

If I can’t dance, it’s not my revolution

I see tankies keep trying to argue with people about "Actually Existing Socialist" states like USSR and China and try to argue with me or others about how "they were good actually". It's bad enough when most of their arguments are whataboutism, but it gri

Attacker Has Techdirt Reclassified As Phishing Site, Proving Masnick’s Impossibility Law Once Again

in reply to deadcade

I just meant a company trusted a bogus phising claim and took down a legitimate site. Yeah, they're a little different though.
in reply to Cethin

Companies would rather protect themselves from potential litigation than stand up for their paying customers so yeah most companies probably just preemptively block the site as soon as the abuse report comes in. They're not really under any obligation to actually check that the abuse report was correct or not, so most companies have decided to cut positions/funding to any sort of complaint review department which is why they can be so slow/unhelpful/incompetent most of the time.

What apps / sites do you use to find restaurants in your city?

My favorite that I've used for years, foursquare, is shutting down in a few days. Pretty bummed because I found some of the best restaurants I've ever been to with it. 15 years and thousands of reviews, all in the trash now.

Google maps is useless for most cities, in mine every restaurant has a 4.7-4.8, and seems gamed.

Yelp is an awful company I'd rather not use, and its based on top reviewers, rather than reviews.

Tripadvisor is missing way too much to be useful.

What are ppl using nowadays?

  1. Google Maps
  2. Happy Cow
  3. DuckDuckGo searches such as "best vegan in Philadelphia".

Do you actually think Luigi is not the guy? We have quite a few pieces of evidence to contradict that idea at this point
in reply to TrickDacy

It does seem odd that he was just chilling at McDonalds with the gun, the fake ID, and his manifesto ready to go.
in reply to TrickDacy

My unfounded conspiracy theory is some questionable legal methods were used used to track him and the whole McDonalds snitch is a cover to make the search legal and arrest him. I can't understand how someone who saw the photos released could have positively identified him.

Never underestimate the incoherency of an American hog.

If anything, him getting caught by being an idiot ay McDonalds makes the story more believable.

Fair warning if you donate to Wikipedia you will be emailed every 1 or 2 weeks asking if you can afford to donate again in guilt tripping manner. I unsubscribed due to it. I support the freedom of knowledge but nagging the people who do donate ain't the way to go if you are looking for more money

This latest generation of ARC GPUs is very promising. I'm really glad there's finally some good budget gaming GPUs out there. Intel has really committed to this product line, and I really hope it continues to pay off.

The price/performance is fantastic, the power efficiency is decent, and the feature set is way beyond expectations--almost caught up with Nvidia on their second attempt. The rate of improvement is impressive.

I have some friends still on GTX 10 series cards that would love this upgrade. That being said, personally, there's no reason for me to switch yet. As soon as Intel has something that can beat an RTX 3080Ti via higher tiers or next gen, I'll gladly ditch Nvidia.

To those patients... It matters...

At least for a few months, if we fail to turn the moment into a movement and they do it anyway.

But for today, fewer patients will be billed life ruining sums after supposedly approved life saving surgery they were entitled to. Nothing can take that away from him. He made a difference.

Allow me to tell you the story of the starfish and the beach…

A young girl was walking along a beach upon which thousands of starfish had been washed up during a terrible storm. When she came to each starfish, she would pick it up, and throw it back into the ocean. People watched her with amusement.

She had been doing this for some time when a man approached her and said, “Little girl, why are you doing this? Look at this beach! You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!”

The girl seemed crushed, suddenly deflated. But after a few moments, she bent down, picked up another starfish, and hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied,

“Well, I made a difference for that one!”

IF you can only do one push-up, thats enough. IF you can only walk around the block, its a start. An avalanche begins with the movement of a single pebble.

Be the Green Mario you wish to see in the world.
