Germany is the main US proxy in Europe. Without Germany, Europe might start getting dangerous ideas about sovereignty and independence.

‘Something horrible’: Somerset pit reveals bronze age cannibalism

Summary

Archaeologists found evidence of a Bronze Age massacre and cannibalism in a Somerset pit.

At least 37 people, including children, were violently killed, dismembered, and likely eaten before being thrown into a 15-meter shaft.

The bones, discovered 50 years ago but recently re-examined, show signs of butchering and marrow extraction, with some bones chewed by human teeth.

Researchers suggest the massacre, dated between 2200BC and 2000BC, was a brutal act intended to terrorize the wider community.

This unprecedented find challenges assumptions about early Bronze Age Britain.

Anyone who has ever been in a British town centre on a Saturday night won’t be completely surprised

History teems with famines, and with famines you'll find cannibalism.

This is what we expect after the world runs out of water to run our farms. Mad Max with fewer cars and more cannibalism.

Strix Point AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 Yoga Pro 7 compatibility with Linux specifically EndeavourOS?

in reply to Brahvim

Yep! I mean, it's been two years now. I've tried TLP, Powertop, and both combined.

They improve things but I still only get about 5 hours, half the battery life I did in Windows 11. I've accepted these downsides because I already have the laptop and can't just go buy a new one, but a device with proper Linux support has real upsides.

in reply to small_crow

Have you tried configuring the amd-pstate driver in GRUB? That helped me a fair bit with battery life, though having an ROG laptop also meant I was already using asusd, which tripled my battery life just by having reasonable fan and power level settings. I hadn't had any luck with TLP either.

You think he gets a notification when someone posts about him sitting at the table next to them?

They could very easily track this by geolocation, then the content filtering is almost trivial.

Would be interesting if I could get a notification of what everyone within 20 ft of me was posting.

Polismordet i Krokom 1971.

South Korea ruling party leader steps down after backing impeachment of President Yoon

Han Dong-hoon has resigned as leader of South Korea’s ruling People Power party, saying his position has become untenable after his dramatic decision to support President Yoon Suk Yeol’s impeachment at the weekend.

“Martial law in the advanced nation that is South Korea, in 2024. How angry and disappointed must you have all been?” he said at a press conference on Monday.

This party is really in a serious crisis, but they deserve it. Democracy should prevail.

Serbian authorities using spyware to illegally surveil activists, report finds

Police and intelligence services in Serbia are using advanced mobile forensics products and previously unknown spyware to illegally surveil journalists, environmental campaigners and civil rights activists, according to a report.

The report shows how mobile forensic products from the Israeli firm Cellebrite are used to unlock and extract data from individuals’ mobile devices, which are being infected with a new Android spyware system, NoviSpy.

He continued, explaining that there was a period in which CNN journalists “couldn’t call air strikes in Gaza air strikes unless we had confirmation from the Israelis.”

Don't worry, every spare module in the cars, regardless of their drivetrain, has a chip that needs to be paired at great cost so they'll get people buying new cars anyway through cost of ownership alone. This fuckery started with electric cars to create FUD around them and protect legacy motor companies' decades of investments into engines.

Our family will be buying a new car in 2-4 years. My father has doubts about EVs even though our use case is perfect for them: we drive 15 minutes to town and back, and the once-per-year road trips to Germany can be covered by their charging network; it's not physiologically feasible for any one of us to safely drive over 3 hours straight anyway. He is critical since the technician absolutely lambasted electric cars for how dangerous they are to work on, and that they are uninsurable in garages because of the fire risk etc. How do I convince him that it makes little sense to still use a gas or hybrid for the next 12-15 years?
