Corporate Social Media is Junk Food

SocialMedia is part of your daily diet - so why not make it healthy?

Corporate platforms feed you ads, algorithms, and infinite scroll designed to keep you hooked on junk food. The #Fediverse is different:

✅ No ads, no algorithms
✅ Real communities run by real people
✅ Diverse cultures and positive content

Stop feeding on junk. Switch to something organic!

I wish my app would give an option to have pages rather than an infinite feed.
in reply to Fediverse Champion

i mean... a lot of the content on the fediverse is literally just lifted straight from the other "junk food" social media websites that were just named.

its just a federated experience. not a "healthy" one. I'm all for moving more people over to the fediverse but let's maybe take it down a couple notches with the weird propaganda-esque ads?

Netanyahu spokesperson denies Cairo trip amid Gaza ceasefire push

A spokesperson for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday rejected reports the Israeli leader was traveling to Cairo for negotiations over a ceasefire and hostage release deal with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

While the Biden administration said negotiations over recent days for a ceasefire have been “productive,” there’s little word from Israel’s side of forward movement on a truce that would lead to the release of hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

“Contrary to the wave of rumors, Prime Minister Netanyahu is not in Cairo,” the spokesperson said in a statement shared with The Hill by Israel’s Embassy in Washington.

Americans can now visit China for up to 10 days without a visa

in reply to ☆ Yσɠƚԋσʂ ☆

That’s great to hear. Less time than I spend when I go, but for first time trips it’s a decent amount of time for people to get a feel for the place.
in reply to Bartsbigbugbag

Absolutely, it's a great move on the part of China to make it easy for people from western countries to come and see what China is actually like as opposed to what western propagandists paint it as.

COVID-19 is a leading cause of death in children and young people in the US | University of Oxford

in reply to jagged_circle

You mean like "falling into a single rusty nail is the leading caused of tetanus of the eye? But only a leading cause of loosing an eye?" Scientists, though, have proven that falling right on a rusty nail pointing perfectly upwards with its pointy side straight into the eye is 100% effective at inducing eye removal surgery.
in reply to FundMECFS

This study is for 2021-2022 during the peak of COVID and is not indicative of the current situation. While we still have to be vigilant, accidents, murder and especially intentional self harm should be way more concerning

Israel planning offensive against Yemen, report says

The Israeli army is planning to strike Yemen in response to recent Houthi missile and drone attacks, the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation Kan reported on Monday.

The Houthi movement, known officially as Ansar Allah, claimed to have struck a "military target" near Tel Aviv on Monday with a hypersonic ballistic missile.

The group's military spokesman Yahya Saree declared in a televised address that the operation was a success, though Israeli media reported intercepting the missile before it entered its airspace.

The Houthis have been launching attacks against Israel since the outbreak of the war in Gaza last year. They say the attacks are in solidarity with Palestinians.

The Yemeni group has also targeted shipping lanes in the Red Sea, describing these operations as part of their efforts to pressure Israel into halting the war on Gaza.

I actually thought they would go for Syria first and then Iraq.

Destroying Yemen in between I didn't think of.

Switzerland bans Hezbollah a week after it banned Hamas

Switzerland has taken another significant step away from its traditional neutrality, with its parliament approving a proposal to classify Hezbollah as a "terrorist organization".

This decision follows Switzerland’s move, last week, to outlaw Palestinian Resistance group Hamas from holding any form of activity within the country.

Both Hezbollah and Hamas are designated as terrorist organizations by the United States and many other nations, while they are, in parallel considered Resistance groups by many others.

The Swiss government, however, has tried to downplay the significance of these bans, stating that they do not constitute "a paradigm shift in the generally cautious practice of banning organizations."

this is like saying al-qaeda flew two planes in the world trade center as an act of resistance like wtf.
in reply to pewgar_seemsimandroid

This is like saying the US nuking Hiroshima was an act of preserving democracy like wtf
in reply to pewgar_seemsimandroid

This view does not account for the violent colonialism perpetrated by the west in the creation of Israel.

Leading cancer scientist Sun Shao-Cong returns to China amid US investigations

in reply to ☆ Yσɠƚԋσʂ ☆

If US medical scientists had already come up with a cure for cancer, do you think common people would get to know/use it, or would they just hoard it to keep ghouls alive?
