Fascinating! I had no idea.

I used to support deporting all illegals until very recently. The Democrats have a point about going door-to-door being unfeasible and expensive. Where I'm at now, I'd like to see a two-year grace period for illegals to take advantage of a path to citizen ship, and if they begin that process, they're immune from deportation. During that period, illegals who commit crimes and are convicted of them would be deported. Afterwards, illegals would be deported on an as-noticed basis.

Illegal immigration is a problem, but if an illegal immigrant is being violent, we'll notice, and if they're not, there's no real urgency in deporting them.

Kind of unrelated but wow The Post Millenial is like Fox news lite

Light?

Maybe it depends on which Fox News articles you read. They vary wildly from hard news to hard right punditry. I find most Post Millennial articles to be more biased on average, but a lot less sensational and editorial as well.

You make this story seem not so outlandish in comparison to the other possibilities

in reply to John

just a google product on its inevitable chopping block

So, in short: Not the program devs decide where and how windows are presented to you, you decide. Which I very much love.
in reply to Lucy :3

Same. I briefly had an M4 Mac Mini and one of the things I instantly missed about Linux was Wayland.

I always want new windows to open on the middle of the screen I am currently working on, but on Windows and MacOS they just go wherever they want.

And I love the 100% predictability of where windows will open: Either on the workspace I explicitly configured, out of my sight, or to the right/below the currently focused container. And the settings for that are always in the same place, ~/.config/sway/
in reply to John

Yeah, but i think any programmable system should allow low level constructs if the high level constructs are not enough.

iirc this caused serious problems with wine because the API of windows requires setting coordinates.

“What about capitalism is worth dying for?”
“Don’t ask me, employee. You’re the one that’s going to be dying!”

And donating to that cause turns out to mean "donating my assets to my foundation so they stay tax free and investing the 2% I'm required by law into 'solutions' that perpetrate/profiteer from the problem"

Gamers Nexus might start including Linux gaming tests in their hardware reviews

Pretty exciting times ahead as Valve might finally release SteamOS to more hardware. This amount of Linux desktop coverage would be unimaginable few years ago.
in reply to azvasKvklenko

Windows gamers and reviewers seemed to not realize AMD cpu performance was nerfed on Windows until the latest gen AMD release. From time to time there have also been issues with Windows scheduling for Intel cpus. Including a competing OS in comparisons allows reviewers to sanity check stuff like that. Wendell had the most balanced reviews because he was presenting cross platform and productivity along with Windows gaming performance. When Microsoft held a monopoly that sort of reviewing wasn't possible. You had no idea if Windows was nerfing particular platforms or why.

Overall Linux gaming might be worse or some titles really bad but lets get it out in the open. It will be good for all consumers because it will drive improvement.

I think they should at least do a annual "Year of the Linux desktop!" Episode!

Blood in the iPhones? Apple faces criminal charges

in reply to Zerush

Apples existence should face criminal charges for sucking too much.

The whole reason that the global south exists is to exploit people, steal their resources, etc. Debt has always been fundamental to this. Reform is just prolonging the misery. Abolition and cancellation are the actual solution.

The entire world is in a debt crisis. It just happens to be that the global South is the first at risk of default.

Honestly? I don't think it's ready for the migration that's going to take place in January (supposedly, January). The USA will ban TikTok and people still debate in the comments what should be the new short videos platform. I really want to spread the message about Loops, but I was unable to create an account just a few days ago. It won't work for thousands and thousands of people that want something efficient and do not appreciate the Fediverse effort as we do.

Mastodon itself couldn't compete against BlueSky. I think Loops has a month to be a real TikTok alternative or it faces the same destiny as Mastodon (or Lemmy).

in reply to Katrisia

Yeah, it's totally not ready for that amount of influx. To be fair, it's not even out of beta. I don't think even the dev would claim it's ready for that scale yet. Hopefully it'll be ready the next time an event like that happens

Huh. Seems pretty expansive - @dansup@mastodon.social, any comment?

So let's say, if I post my a$$ accidentally; they can use, sell, broadcast, advertise, reproduce, resell and publicly perform it?
