Report: German Xmas market attacker is Saudi anti-Islamist who shared pro-Israel content

The suspect in the deadly ramming at a Christmas market in Germany on Friday was an anti-Islam activist who shared pro-Israel content on social media in the wake of the October 7 attacks, The Wall Street Journal reported.

According to the Journal report, the suspect, a Saudi national who had moved to Germany in 2006, ran a website and social media channels warning against Islam and discussing women’s rights, as well as posting content in support of Israel.

He also showed support for Germany’s far-right anti-immigration AfD party, the report said.

This guy is just the wildest mixture of things. Pretty much everything you hear is somewhat contradictory. It seems he is just straight up insane - tangled up in trauma, confusion, anger, lies and conspiracy theories
in reply to UnfortunateShort

He was wrong, but Im not sure he had contradictory beliefs.

The only thing that stands out IMO is him being for AfD - but that makes sense if you note that anti-immigration sentiment among ex-muslims when it shows up is actually specifically against muslim immigration, not immigration in general (Im exmuslim and spent a bunch of time in online exmuslim spaces).

He ran a forum to help atheist Saudis seek asylum, and his last tweets were among other things anger at the German failure to help Saudi asylum seekers. Clearly not anti-immigration.

in reply to Garibaldee

See, even the Israeli people know their government is evil.
in reply to ef9357

And the ones who don't mind the evil are increasingly seeing it as a bad bet
in reply to ef9357

Nah, it's becoming essentially untenable to live, let alone invest in, due to the Oct. 7 assault's resulting war, and other war with pro-Gazan forces.

Here's a video on it

And an article/opinion-piece

in reply to ef9357

This can also be bad in the long term as it's likely that moderates and people against fascism are leaving the country now leaving behind the extremists and Zionists. The spectrum could shift more to being pro genocide amongst the remaining population and even if Netanyahu is somehow out of the government they might vote in another fascist.
in reply to Maldreamer

Even if the only people who stay are fascists, the fact that there's fewer of them still weakens the state: fewer soldiers, fewer workers, fewer tax payers, fewer customers, etc etc. "Israel" needs to grow to survive.

Well then we'll get accountability in ... (Checks notes) 4 years. Maybe.
in reply to ef9357

If I were to guess the primary concern of those leaving it would probably be to go some place that doesn't regularly have rockets fired at it
in reply to Garibaldee

I mean, haven't they always had rockets fired at them? Why would there be an increase in emigration then? Are there more rockets than before?
in reply to Garibaldee

I can't imagine anyone but religious zealots and people who don't know any better that actually want to live in israel.

Lift Sanctions to Give Syria a Chance to Recover

in reply to Garibaldee

Nah they removed the bounty on HTS instead lol. Don't want a strong Syria, just an obedient puppet.

that star of david in the pic reminds me of the same star being used by nazis to identify jewish business in nazi germany.

they've gone full circle from being oppressed to being the oppressors and; like our own facists; they're completely unaware of it despite the evidence in front of their faces.

Elon Musk applauds the German neo-Nazi party

After rallying behind Trump, the tech billionaire supports AfD and other anti-immigration parties.

For many years, I considered buying a Tesla model S. But I hesitated because the privacy invasion conducted by modern automobiles on their drivers - not just Tesla - puts me off.

Now I will for sure never purchase any Tesla vehicle.
And I closed my Paypal account. [EDIT: Musk doesn't own any Paypal stock anymore, so nevermind that}
And I left Twitter.
And I will never get the Starlink service.
And I will never use OpenAI or xAI products if I can avoid it.

At this point, I think it's a moral duty to boycott any and all products or services that Musk invests in or makes money out of.

Wh-why Paypal? As far as my research went, he invented X, his own and badly coded banking service, then he bought it PayPal, was a shitty CEO and in addition to that implemented his own code that made things worse - which got kicked out of the company by the employees
in reply to BudgetBandit

Hmm yeah, I thought he still owned Paypal shares, but he doesn't.

Well, Paypal sucks anyway. So no biggie.

in reply to ExtremeDullard

As a welder and mechanic, it's good that you're staying away from Teslas. Those things are poorly built and poorly fit together. I've seen cheap Temu toy cars with better fitting then Teslas.
in reply to floofloof

He's obviously doing all of this to get less regulation, which in turn means more money and more power, more being able to do what he wants. Big corporations and rich businessmen will benefit from that short-term, but long-term we all suffer, because we'll get a neo-nazi government and do even less against climate change.

Even if we manage to prevent or at least overcome the neo-nazi government once people realize that's not a good thing to have, nature will be standing right next in line to punish us really hard for being so goddamn stupid.
History will not remember us fondly. Future survivors will think of our generation(s) as insane and/or stupid, when they learn that people willingly voted for entities which destroy the planet even more, and make living conditions for citizens even worse, despite knowing better way ahead of time (earth heating up is known since the 1970s or so, and the results of nazi-governments are also known very well), and despite having the internet as an easy means of global communication and coordination.

and do even less against climate change

Their plan is to just skedaddle to somewhere relatively unaffected by climate change. That's something you can do when you have more money than god. That's why a lot of the richest people already have bought large tracts of land and villas in areas they think will be okay, like New Zealand.

Kinda like how we wonder about the people of the Weimar Republic now.

World News reshared this.

It's a modern day religion .... the same system we've always had for thousands of years

A belief system where we all collectively believe that some people have more power than everyone else. A religion where we are made to believe that we walk among gods or god like men and women made possible by a divine being.

Instead of offering daily goat sacrifices ... we offer payment for subscription fees or buy something online.

in reply to IninewCrow

The religious aspect of the whole thing is becoming increasingly more evident as the system heads towards a crisis. Instead of rationally acknowledging that there are clear and obvious problems that stem from the functioning of the system, people are just doubling down on doing more of the same because they can't even conceive of an alternative.

"The decision by the Government of #Sweden to stop funding #UNRWA in 2025 is disappointing and comes at the worst time for Palestine Refugees.

"The decision is one day after the members of the UN General Assembly overwhelmingly adopted a resolution in support of UNRWA. Sweden has been a reliable longstanding partner to UNRWA providing both political and financial support for decades.

"This is a sad day for Palestine Refugees and the multilateral system which Sweden has spearheaded..."
