Look at this guy with choices.
I mean - these days u go to store and buy a tv. Many people don't even know what os is on it.
~~I do but at least they don't prevent you from suing them like Roku does.~~
Never mind, I guess they do

The operating system is still better though. Suck it Roku.
I'm not going to argue that Roku's software is better, it's definitely worse, but honestly, it's not that much worse and doesn't really impact day to day usage.
The voice recognition in the remote is slightly worse, the OS is less pretty and a little slower to navigate, but when 90% of its time being used is either playing something or displaying a screensaver, none of that really matters. It still opens instantly when I turn the Xbox on, it still lets me open whatever app I need and select a show, and it has one feature that Google TV doesn't have that's genuinely great which is private listening, where the audio will play from the Roku app on your phone so you can use headphones and not wake anyone.
Honestly, I would buy the best picture quality TV I could and not worry about Google OS or Roku OS at this point. And if you do get a Roku TV, I definitely don't think it's worth giving Google more money on top of that.

This doesn't surprise me at all... Just like bots in games. Selling a service that benefits another. Its shady, but definitely believable.

SPEED DREAMS - It's happening, folks! 🎉
Our migration from SVN to GIT has already started! You can now access our new repositories on a-lec.org/ 😍 :The repos are now open! Please feel free to play around with them, ask questions, report feedback, etc.
To avoid confusion, please keep in mind the following TODOs:
- Migrate existing assets (tracks, driver liveries, cars) to their own repositories.
- This can be done at a slower pace, since we can only migrate assets whose licensing is clear and fully free (as in freedom).
- Non-free assets should be ideally hosted elsewhere.
- Illegal assets (e.g.: those under proprietary licenses and/or violating intellectual property, such as lancer09-wr) will not be migrated.
- Migrate existing tickets/issues from SVN to forge.a-lec.org/speed-dreams/.
- Make some suggested improvements to the in-game download manager.
- "Download all" button.
- Filter by category (car category, track type, robot type) and quality (pre-alpha, alpha, beta, production).
Seamantic: A Semantic-Web-Bridging Mastodon Client
Hi everyone! I’m building Seamantic, a Mastodon client that introduces the "semantic feed" — a way to interact directly with the Semantic Web.
Here’s how it works:
- Ask Questions: Post queries to the semantic feed. Bots like SeBridge (which I introduced in an earlier post) connect to knowledge bases to provide answers by listening on Mastodon hashtags for queries.
- Contribute Data: Insert data into the feed by posting insert-queries, helping bots grow their underlying knowledge bases.
- Sea-Level: Track your balance—querying raises the "sea-level," and contributing lowers it, encouraging collaboration. When the sea-level goes over a certain level, posting queries is blocked until the sea-level is lowered by contribution.
By connecting users and knowledge bases, the semantic feed creates a dynamic flow of high-quality, consensus-driven data.
What do you think of the idea? Feedback is always welcome.
querying raises the "sea-level," and contributing lowers it, encouraging collaboration. When the sea-level goes over a certain level, posting queries is blocked
Yeah, this seems to assume that the set of people able and willing to make contributions overlaps the set interested in simply asking questions, and I can't imagine that working. You know the rule that in any community 90% just lurk, 9% comment, and maybe 1% actually contribute. For everyone but the 1%, I foresee querying until they hit the limit, then they leave.
This might be somewhat mitigated by it being a very technical system to begin with, so even being interested in queries is a barrier.

However, most of those features look like stuff they came up with in an afternoon to try and set it apart from TikTok while the main thrust is just to scoop up users as TikTok struggles with it's current issues.
