8ft diameter is quite small by today's standards for a separation ring. Even Mercury Atlas rockets were 10ft in diameter. 8ft is more on the scale of weapons systems or maybe medium-lift launch vehicles.

"Movie released in 2024/2025 beats movie released during pandemic at box office"

What makes headlines these days boggles the mind.

I saw 3 just yesterday, and personally I thought it was the worst one so far?! But my now 14 year old son disagreed and thought it was the best one so far. Metacritic seems to agree with him too.

I don't know, maybe I was having an off day or something. I felt like it was aimed at a slightly younger demographic than the last couple? Like, pre-teen at best? I didn't get that feeling from the first two.

You make an excellent point. But like the dot com bubble, most big players always stand the test of time. Smaller AI businesses will either get merged with big corps or the big fishes will come out with a better alternative.
in reply to cmgvd3lw

yeah, the .com bubble popped because all the vc's were promised return on investment, and sooner or later they figured out there wasn't nearly as much money in it as they were promised.

I'm kind of concerned that we're the mainstay of the product.

I'm concerned that they get enough data to ask: what is the minimum amount we can pay Rumba before they leave or become unproductive?

How much will Rumba be willing to pay for this concert ticket?

I'm worried that there are enough realistic ways to nickel and dime me out of money that they really screw up life for people.

Israeli strikes across Gaza kill at least 50, including several kids

Israeli airstrikes killed at least 50 people across central and southern Gaza, including an attack on a sprawling tent camp that Israel has repeatedly bombed despite designating it a humanitarian safe zone. Israel said the strike targeted a high-ranking police officer, and blames Hamas for civilian deaths.

The most moral army. Funded by the most benevolent light on the hill country. Too bad journalists aren't allowed into Gaza to share Israels wonderful morality with the rest of the world

Neva is a puzzle-platform game with a fantastic visual style, and challenging gameplay that doesn't get frustrating

I know the point is to reduce waste and combat software driven planned obsolescence, but given the circumstances, is there any way for me to score an extra laptop on the cheap? In other words, come October should I look for a deluge of old Windows 10 laptops on eBay or Salvation Army or something?

Oh definitely, most people aren't going to use Linux because it's not from a big corporation so they think it'll be bad.

Piccolo would not be making this argument. If anybody would it would be Turles there.

This makes a nice companion to the meme that ends with the rich guy saying “fuck off” to something reasonable that involves helping other humans.

Indian farmers are prepared to march on Delhi once again

in reply to ☆ Yσɠƚԋσʂ ☆

i wonder if these farmers could somehow borrow a page from the chinese playbook since they're in control of a natural resource like the chinese have with gallium.

i suppose then the government can force them off the land and they would need to advertise a nuclear option like salting or oiling their fields before something like that happens.

Instead of self-immolating, these people should be taking a page out of Mangione's playbook.

Attack the people who are profiting off of suffering if you want the suffering to end.

They've had it too good for too long.

10 foot ui / htpc other than Kodi?

I'm looking for a sleek ui that'll support firefox, jellyfin, and steam. I would prefer not to use kodi.

I found this project I might try github.com/dudewheresmycode/Te…

Any suggestions?

in reply to NaNin

I use sway or i3 compositor to launch various streaming sites in Chrome or Firefox in kiosk mode. Also Kodi and Steam. I have shortcuts for these mapped to function keys on a combo keyboard touchpad. Works well as support for streaming services in Kodi is not comprehensive

Far-right Italian PM says she is ‘in tune on many issues’ with Keir Starmer

Italy’s prime minister, Giorgia Meloni, has said she is “in tune on many issues” with her British counterpart, Keir Starmer, especially “the fight against mass illegal immigration” and the need to explore “innovative solutions” when it comes to processing asylum claims, touting Italy’s controversial agreement with Albania.
