Then you're not allowed to post it again for a week. Those are the rules. Others have to repost in the meantime.

Sure, but the fact that the US did this could be evidence that they see Japan as a flight risk
in reply to freagle

Possibly, although realistically they'd just take it back if Japan started doing something the US saw as a threat.

LTT warnning: I Can’t Keep Waiting for SteamOS! - Linux Gaming Update 2025

If Linus were to visit Mount Everest, he'd reach base camp, spend the next day criticizing the sherpas, calling them foolish for taking the well-established path, and insisting that a direct line to the summit is obviously the best option.

Bazite has solid onboarding, hardware support (including Nvidia and AMD), and, dare I say, even printer support. All things he complains about in this video. But then again, what do I know? I'm just a sherpa.

I would expect LTT to do the bare minimum of research. There are a lot of videos on youtube talking about Bazzite as a great option to install SteamOS on the desktop that i'm sure "Joey Mainstream" could've seen

Most of these people probably only know of Linux from memes about needing a PHD to install a web browser.

And Linus has a tendency to feed into that misunderstanding instead of fixing it

Art Spiegelman And Joe Sacco Working Together On New Comic About Gaza

I only watched the first 5 minutes and it didn't seem to be going anywhere. So what's the take home message, diversify your holdings?

The core issue is that the stock market doesn't really exist on fundamentals. If it did DJT wouldn't be trading at $34 on $4MM in revenue. Regulatory regimes are about to change and who knows what else. So it's not that that kind of analysis is wrong, but it's not super helpful either. Because the market can blunder on like this for decades, and regulations can turn on a dime.
in reply to Dr. Bob

I think it's actually very helpful for people to understand how the stock market relates to the economy at larger, and the problems created by VCs having significant influence over the allocation of labor and resources. I really encourage you to watch the whole video before giving an opinion.

Didnt you know? Hamas members eat food, drink water, uses hospitals, have children, live in houses, use power, and breathe air. /$

in reply to Garibaldee

Very weird to read about a soldier in an army that is actively carrying out a genocide going on holiday. Hopefully this warrant turns into an arrest.

Historic moment': Brazilian court orders investigation of Israeli war crimes suspect

In what the group calls a “historic” move, a Brazilian court has directed police to investigate an Israeli soldier accused of war crimes in Gaza, following a complaint by the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF), the group announced on Friday, Anadolu reports.

A week ago, HRF alleged the suspect – said to be currently in Brazil as a tourist – participated in demolishing civilian homes as part of Israel’s genocidal campaign.

The HRF has called for the suspect’s immediate arrest, warning of the risk of flight from Brazil and evidence tampering.

The court, invoking Brazil’s Code of Criminal Procedure, ordered urgent investigative action, marking a historic instance of a Rome Statute signatory enforcing its provisions domestically.

“This is a historic moment,” said Dyab Abou Jahjah, the group’s chair. “It sets a powerful precedent for holding war criminals accountable.”

This Year, RISC-V Laptops Really Arrive

cross-posted from: lemmy.ml/post/24419041

RISC-V laptops offer customizable and affordable personal computing with their open-source instruction set architecture. Early versions have demonstrated their potential, but lagged in performance. But in 2025, Framework and DeepComputing are partnering to make the best RISC-V laptop yet, promising an alternative to laptops powered by x86 and Arm.
in reply to Treczoks

They are under development, and there is a small market for development machines. It also allows the manufacturer to understand the issues they'll get once the high performance processors are here.

That was cringey as fuck but I guess get the word out in whatever way works

He started on Newgrounds, so he brings that heavy helping of early 2000s Newgrounds edge. Certainly not for everyone. ^^;

German uranium imports from Russia rise by almost 70 percent

in reply to ☆ Yσɠƚԋσʂ ☆

Our power companies hold the stance of no-fucking-way-lol, when it comes to restarting the reactors. It would require quite a bit in terms of repairs/inspections, and in particular hiring+training all the personell is insanely expensive. At this point, just plonk down more solar panels, wind turbines and batteries. It's a lot more cost efficient.
in reply to Ephera

I guess can always resell the uranium to France and then buy electricity from them 🤣

Even worse, it's an hour or two past midnight on new years eve and my social battery is flat, but the guests aren't leaving. Yawning and checking my wrist watch doesn't help. Cleaning the kitchen doesn't help. What do?
