Congo jails three Chinese citizens in illegal mining crackdown

BUKAVU, Democratic Republic of Congo, Jan 15 (Reuters) - A Congolese court has sentenced three Chinese citizens to seven years in prison after they were arrested in possession of gold bars and $400,000 in cash and found guilty of illegal activities linked to the artisanal mining sector.

The trio are the first Chinese nationals to stand trial since Democratic Republic of Congo launched its latest push to crack down on the unlicensed extraction of the many precious and strategic minerals buried in its conflict-torn east.

"This is an educational trial that should normally serve as a wake-up call to all Chinese nationals who think they can leave China, arrive in Kitutu, Kibe, Lugushwa, Kamituga or Mwenga and behave as if they were in their own room, without even paying the hotel fees," said Christian Wanduma, a lawyer representing local communities in the trial.

Dis/connect from Netbird through NetworkManager?

Up till now I've been using only OpenVPN connections.
Which can be integrated nicely in NetworkManager to connect + disconnect from them, through NetworkManager's UI.

However since recently I also need to use Netbird for some connections.

Is it possible to add Netbird as an entry in NetworkManager, for easy connection + disconnection?
If so, how would one go about setting that up?

Or is adding Netbird in NetworkManager not possible,
and is the Netbird CLI/GUI really the only option?

Edit:
It's not possible yet.
First Netbird needs to add Wireguard config support,
see: github.com/netbirdio/netbird/i…

No youll need to use the netbird command line to go up/down. Network manager can manage vpns but netbird is a bit different as its basically handling all of the connection stuff like network manager would be doing with an ovpn or raw wireguard config.

I do really hope netbird adds the feature to use raw wireguard clients to connect to nodes, kinda like how netmaker does it.

Ahhh sad to hear, but thanks for your reply,
now I know that I can stop searching,
and start hoping for quick implementation of Wireguard config support for Netbird :)

what even is that its like something out of a movie and its amazing let me tell you this is the kind of leadership we need more of in this world not those weak politicians who are afraid to take a stand but trump hes a different story hes a real man of action and i love it and i know the fake news media is going to try and make trump look bad but lets be real here he looks cool as heck in that photo and this is a total win for him and for america and for the world because who else can just show up and demand a ceasefire at gunpoint and actually get it done i mean its just incredible

If you haven't listened to the Behind the Bastards episode on how Reagan and the Christian right absolutely fucked the homosexual community (and indirectly children) by not paying attention to AIDS, you really should.

Which of the many disease based threats are you referring to? Bird flu? Measles? Meningitis? Whooping Cough? Lyme? Andrew Wakefield did a fucking number on the US.

Why my nftables do not block DHCP ?

Hi,

On my Debian 12 Bookworm ( raspberry pi )

My nftables do not block DHCP packets ! according to this basic rules

nft -y list rulesset

table ip Tip {

    chain chIN {
        type filter hook input priority 0; policy drop;
        ct state established,related accept
    }
    chain chFW {
        type filter hook forward priority 0; policy drop;
    }
    chain chOUT {
        type filter hook output priority 0; policy drop;
        udp dport 67 drop #DHCP
        udp dport 53 accept
        tcp dport { 80, 443} accept
        ct state established,related accept
    }

}

DHCP should be blocked... but it's not as I get an IP from it..

Any ideas ?

Thanks.

I know nftable is more secure and robust but sometimes I feel like iptables is the way.
in reply to Anna

They are literally the same now. Use IPtables it's getting converted to nftables now. Just a different interface.

Fedora 42 Is Looking At Switching To EROFS For Its Live Media

reshared this

in reply to petsoi

The reasoning stated is that EROFS is more actively developed than SquashFS. Does that mean that SquashFS is feature incomplete, or that it's more stable?
in reply to allywilson

It probably means that more people are hacking on it and getting their PRs accepted than are working on SquashFS. What constitutes software that is still alive these days is pretty badly skewed toward "if you don't release four x.y.z releases every day your software is dead" these days.

The devastating impact of 15 months of war on Gaza

Bombexplosion i Burås, Krokslätt. Precis när jag gick till sängs igår kväll sprängdes en bomb i närheten. Jag hade recis somnat in och väcktes av smällen som var en mycket tydlig explosion. Min fru var vaken när smällen hördes över hela närområdet.

They're arrogant, ignorant, and cult like. They also sound exactly like the fascist they claim everyone else is. I guess getting banned from there was more of a blessing than anything. I tried to warn them but they just assumed anyone who dared to question Biden & Kamala were Russian.
in reply to John Richard

The true failing of liberals does not lie in ignorance, but in their devotion to it. They clutch to it like a security blanket, as if the act of not knowing were a virtue rather than a vice. It is not stupidity, but a wilful, self-satisfied refusal to step out of their bubble, that renders them so insufferable.

If you don't have google play store or even have it just deactivated you don't get ads or have limits for some activities in duolingo, as those use gems or whatever else is their virtual currency called, so you get way better experience overall.
At least it still worked like that about a year ago.
in reply to Liome

You can also patch Duolingo with ReVanced manager to remove the third party ads and long animated ads for Duolingo premium or whatever

Yeah, no. I can tell you're purposefully ignoring what I am saying because it's not what you want to hear.

For the record before I block you, I am referring to those who are living above their means because accepting a cheaper way of life "isn't good enough for them."

It's not about needs. It's about wants. That's what you misunderstand when you say "many Americans need 2 jobs just to survive."

It's straight up not true.

Gonna ignore you now.

It's absolutely true, though, and rather than recognizing that the problem is systemic, you blame behavior of individuals. I know the point you're making, I just think it's a bad point.
