10 soldiers injured in training accident on IDF base

Ten soldiers were moderately and lightly injured in a training accident during instruction at the military engineering school in the south, it was learned this morning (Thursday). In addition, significant damage was caused to the building. Military police opened an investigation into the circumstances.

The incident occurred during advanced training on recognizing enemy ammunition, as an RPG taken from Hezbollah, part of a display inside the classroom, exploded and hit the soldiers. The display included explosives as part of the bomb threat workshop given to all engineering corps soldiers. The injured were evacuated to hospitals by helicopters and military ambulances, with the damage caused to the building estimated to be hundreds of thousands of shekels.

10 Israeli soldiers wounded after RPG explodes at combat engineering training base

Ten Israeli soldiers were wounded in an accidental blast at a training base in southern Israel on Wednesday night, the military said.

According to an initial IDF probe, the explosion occurred in a classroom during a presentation of explosive weapons used by Israel’s enemies, including bombs and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), to in-training combat engineers.

An RPG that was being presented to the soldiers was launched for reasons still under investigation. The rocket flew out of the classroom, exploding just outside, the probe found.

ICC prosecutor sees ‘no real effort’ by Israel to probe alleged Gaza crimes

The International Criminal Court (ICC) chief prosecutor has defended the organisation’s issuing of arrest warrants for Israel’s prime minister and former defence chief, adding that the country failed to probe war crimes allegations itself.

Karim Khan, speaking in an interview on Thursday with the Reuters news agency, said the ICC had not seen “any real effort” by Israel to take “action that would meet the established jurisprudence”, adding that he hoped the situation would change.

in reply to geneva_convenience

They disagree that they’re crimes. Because they’re genocidal assholes.
in reply to geneva_convenience

Why would you ask the killer to convict themselves in their crime scene of a home?

in reply to Blaze (he/him)

Even with everything that's going on, I still don't really care about someone's beliefs or political views. It's definitely harder these days for sure, but i still try. I'd much rather talk things out and understand someone before I decide to just hate them. The problem is that they are fucking rude and trying to start arguments all the damn time. It's literally just the trolls that show up.

Looks like you care about believes and political views. You just don't care about superficial labels.

That's great, by the way. It's the way to go.

in reply to marcos

I see what you mean. I do care, but it's more like I don't use it as a basis for why I don't like people. Never been a fan of boiling a person down to just one thing about them. Unless you're just straight up an asshole to people for no reason.
in reply to TommySoda

Your choice to engage with the folks around you sincerely, and in good faith is appreciated ❤️

Because the Fediverse is so small, we all have a larger impact on the culture of this space, and I appreciate the impact you're having.

in reply to TommySoda

Hey dude I hate everything you do
But I'm trying really hard to not hate you
Hating you won't make you suck any less

There’s a fourth instance bloc the apolitical ones such as Mander.xyz and sub.wetshaving.social

Wet shaving is awesome and safety razors should come back... but an entire instance dedicated to it? That seems excessive.

As far as I know valves were shut quickly. The big leak was a result of remaining gas (under pressure?) between the valves that could escape. It was a lot, as the pipes run for 100s of km under the sea, so even with valves shut there was just a lot gas in the pipe.
in reply to Garibaldee

Yes, these pipelines are destroying the planet. They should all be destroyed but preferably in a safe way.

RSAF - Rclone in Android

Hi, I have recently found this as an alternative to the great RCX which has been outdated for quite a long time now.
RSAF has been updated a few days ago to use the latest version of rclone, 1.69.0. I am just leaving this here in case someone doesn't know about it.

Thank you.

I should start thinking about doing something for Syncthing soon. I'm not sure that this is for me but thanks for the heads up.

I don't find it listed in F-Droid. I have Round Sync (incompatible with my Pixel 7 Pro) and RCX. I entered rclone in the search.

It is not listed in F-Droid. Maybe they will do it in the future, that is currently the only issue on GitHub github.com/chenxiaolong/RSAF/i… Until then, you could use Obtanium.
in reply to haris

I installed it and connected it to my Google Drive. I can browse the Drive files if I launch the file browser from within the RSAF app, but I can't see my Drive mounted if I explore the Android file system directly from my file browser. How will I find the mounted Drive from another app that I want to use?

Mysterious airstrip appears on a Yemeni island

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — A mysterious airstrip being built on a remote island in Yemen is nearing completion, satellite photos analyzed by The Associated Press show, one of several built in a nation mired in a stalemated war threatening to reignite.

The runway is likely built by the United Arab Emirates, which has long been suspected of expanding its military presence in the region and has backed a Saudi-led war against the Houthis.

While the Houthis have linked their campaign to the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip, experts worry a ceasefire in that conflict may not be enough to see the rebels halt a campaign that’s drawn them global attention. Meanwhile, the Houthis have lobbed repeated attacks at Israel, as well as U.S. warships operating in the Red Sea, raising fears that one may make it through and endanger the lives of American service members.

RedNote Scrambles to Hire English-Speaking Content Moderators

The Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu—better known internationally as RedNote—is scrambling to boost its ability to moderate English-language content after hundreds of thousands of American users suddenly joined the platform in anticipation of TikTok potentially being banned in the United States on Sunday.

after hundreds of thousands of American users suddenly joined the platform

Over 3 million new US users right now actually, according to Reuters

in reply to Alsephina

how do we know those aren't just bots/propaganda?
in reply to refalo

What reason do you have to think they are? Who has a motive to suddenly flood RedNote with fake Americans?
in reply to davel

China trying to keep americans on a Chinese app vs an app they can't control.
Honestly, even here in Lemmy the conversation surrounding the TikTok ban looks like when bots and bad actors were appearing to support trump on Reddit in 2016.

China is still an adversary of the US with lots of human rights abuses and no qualms taking any advantage it can over the US. Zuckeberg isnt really much better, but he's a harder problem to deal with

in reply to Habahnow

What a dog’s breakfast. You’re so fully and completely propagandized that you probably don’t even know you’re being propagandized. If you think Lemmy has bots & bad actors, why don’t you go back to the safety of Reddit’s echo chamber of CIA bots?
in reply to davel

Lol. Just because I think Lemmy has some around a specific topic does not mean that Reddit doesn't for sure have a shit ton more.
in reply to davel

lemmy.ml?

There are bots in the fediverse just like everywhere else.

in reply to macattack

True, everyone with a different opinion than me is clearly always a bot.
in reply to Alsephina

I wonder how/if TikTok will change after such rapid and specific flux in the community
