Nearly 20,000 animals seized in global wildlife trafficking crackdown

in reply to Corkyskog

apnews.com/article/sea-cucumbe…

Wildlife traffickers pleaded guilty this week in federal court in California to illegally importing endangered sea cucumbers — which are prized in China for food and medicine and as a reputed aphrodisiac.
in reply to Garibaldee

Right... But do they go to a wildlife rehabilitation sanctuary... Or what?
in reply to Corkyskog

Trump is trying to claim that they are property of the US government, so that he can sell them to restaurants in China.

Wait, is he really doing that or did I just make that up? Who can even tell anymore.

As I said, in terms of engine and gameplay they're fine, but the aesthetic polish is lacking in my opinion.

Under which authority? Is he sending troops? Will they kill whoever doesn't leave?
in reply to Peter Link

Did anyone think they would?

Great, does a PhD in graphics still needed to edit an image like a 15s work in Paint ? 😜

The release notes refer to the “few remaining issues”.

gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/…

There seem to be 115 issues on there which is more than “a few”. However, only 3 are listed as blockers. But a dozen of them are crashes.

How many of these need to be fixed before the 3.0 release? Does anybody know?

I asked to see Ursula von der Leyen’s texts to Pfizer’s boss and she went to court to stop me. Why the secrecy?

You know very well what you would find.

I hate the fact that there are no uncompromised politicians in this world (except maybe Bernie). But literally no one else...

in reply to Kyrgizion

Bernie has compromised far too much.
in reply to geneva_convenience

Bernie has compromised on some issues, like a good politician should. Nearly everybody else has compromised their integrity and the offices they hold with corrupt behavior. There’s a huge difference.

Effective politics/government doesn’t exist without compromise. America was founded on compromises, some of which were morally reprehensible, some of which were just about the structure of the nation and its government. A huge caveat of course, is that compromise only works when there are at least two groups equally willing to concede something big enough to reach a resolution.

Without the ability to compromise all we’re left with is tyranny.

don't like this

in reply to BertramDitore

Compromising on monstrous things just makes you a monster. It does not make you better than anyone.

There is an objective base line of morality, crossing that is always bad, it's better to tear down the government or die than compromise that way.

when you think think that western hellscape is the world
in reply to Kyrgizion

I agree in general terms, but Bernie is not the only "uncompromised politician" in the world. How many politicians outside the US can you even name?

Good. People are finally starting to fight the real enemy. What I am really happy about is that it seems that it is slowly but steadily becomes less and less of a taboo for western media to write about what's actually happening in Ukraine (and not "Zelensky is the greatest leader ever and every single Ukrainian is happily dying for his regime").

which law enforcement officials are calling a Russian-orchestrated campaign.

Eh.. If you actually read/watch Ukrainian news, you will see how desperate those fuckers are.. If you do anything except blindly supporting our Lord and Saviour Mr. Zelensky - you are a Russian agent. Don't you even dare speak about the atrocities of TCC, all the people they beaten, tortured and killed. They will soon label an entire country as Russian agents :/

Which selfhosted TTS provider should I use with home assistant?

Title question mostly. I've played with XTTS-v2 and it worked pretty well, but I'm wondering if folks are using anything else special. I'd like to train my own voice finetune which is what I did with XTTS-v2, and then use it with home assistant's voice feature. Welcome all opinions on it!
