Poland confirms state support for construction of world’s largest offshore wind turbine tower plant

Which program is the one that surprised you most that it is available on Linux?

For me, it was perhaps simple-scan, a very simple and efficient GUI to scan documents. I used it with my Brother printer / scanner and it works like a charm. Especially since I do not scan stuff often, so a program with more complex UI would have the effect that I forget how to use it until the next time.

What surprised me the most, also in part due to me not really being knowledgeable about software solutions in their respective industries, was the Unreal Engine (the editor that is) and Houdini being available on Linux. Tbf, at least in the vfx department it is apparently more common as most of the high profile software in that industry does have a native Linux version available.

What I appreciated the most though was software like Reaper and Renoise providing a (very good even) Linux-native version when I looked for a new DAW to learn, seeing most software in the audio industry not being very Linux-friendly.

Mixx is a cool free dj software, didn't expect davinci resolve to have an official version, stremio also I didn't think would have an app for whatever reason. I like inkscape for vector art, didn't realize it was a thing til I swapped to linux. I use software and apps more in general because it's stuff I've installed and its not hidden by bloat, even if there is more windows stuff out there, its way easier to discover actual useful software using linux through linux appstores compared to windows.

We must face reality — the Gaza War is now a war of annihilation

"The gulf between Israel’s government and the rest of the world — including its allies, the #Trump administration, the Israeli public, and the American Jewish community — is widening into a chasm. And yet some in Jewish leadership are hiding their heads in the sand.

Critics of the Netanyahu-Smotrich regime are no longer just campus protesters, or hostile-to-Israel regimes, or antisemites like the murderer of two young Jews at an AJC event in Washington DC last week. They include former prime minister Ehud Olmert..."

Looking at this elections is like looking at man tumbing down the stairs, except he's tumbling on the same step all the time.

EXCLUSIVE: Inside Trump’s New Gaza "Ceasefire" Proposal

Jeremy Scahill, Sharif Abdel Kouddous, and Jawa Ahmad
May 29, 2025

"A new proposal for a Gaza ceasefire spearheaded by Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, includes a 60-day initial truce, a “redeployment” of some Israeli occupation forces, and an exchange of captives, including ten living Israelis held in Gaza. It would also require the “immediate” delivery of humanitarian aid, including by the United Nations and the Red Crescent. Drop Site obtained a copy of the document, labelled a “term sheet” by Witkoff."

Ive always pirated movies and series, but I dont know how iptv works for sports, is it easy? I dont watch sports but multiple people have asked me to pirate it for them
in reply to sabreW4K3

In all my years of pirating never used it.
NFL - I just stream on nflbite.

Is IPTV the same as nflbite? But easier ? Might sub just for nfl. Where do I sub for NFL?

NFLBite is a streaming site, IPTV is like a cable box. I switched to it last season and let it lapse once the Super Bowl was played and will go back forever and ever. I should note that it’s clunkier than a cable box but cheaper by an order of magnitude. No lag, just boat loads of channels you’ll never use. You can find iptv review sites online for different options.

Any form of watching live TV online. It can be legal or illegal.

U.S. Govt. Backs Cox in Landmark Supreme Court Battle Over ISP Piracy Liability

The U.S. Solicitor General has urged the Supreme Court to accept Cox Communications' petition in a landmark piracy liability lawsuit. The USSG argues that ISPs are not necessarily liable for pirating subscribers and warns that the current precedent may lead to disconnections for many innocent subscribers. At the same time, the USSG urged the court to deny a petition from the opposing music companies, which seeks to expand the current liability verdict.

I’ve never wanted to see Cox get through successfully as much as I do now.

Ireland wants expansion of the definition of genocide under the Geneva Convention, says Taoiseach

Ireland wants an expansion of the definition of genocide to bring home the enormity of what Israel is doing in Gaza, the Taoiseach has told the Dáil. The Israeli Government, with its “far-right elements”, is "committing genocide in Gaza right now," Micheál Martin said.

The Taoiseach said Ireland, Spain and Norway had initiated recognition, followed by Slovenia, in partnership with the Arab states. But he admitted that Ireland has failed to persuade many other countries that it targeted diplomatically to join the recognition initiative.

The Taoiseach added: "We're hoping that we will broaden the criteria by which Genocide is judged by the Geneva Convention." Some countries have been claiming that Israel's "slaughter" of Palestinians, as Mr Martin put it, does not constitute genocide, which means a policy of deliberate attempted extermination of an entire people.

Progress towards universal Copy/Paste shortcuts on Linux

in reply to markstos

I found this handy snippet to enable these keys in GTK 2 and 3 (not sure of the equivalent for GTK 4 but I guess that's the one which has been updated anyway): forum.colemak.com/topic/1438-d…

Unfortunately I've found this whilst I'm not at the right computer so I haven't been able to test them.

Edit: I tested this and it doesn't appear to have helped.
