Alina Habba leaving behind angry staff and portraits of herself on the walls as job ends

Former Donald Trump attorney Alina Habba is all but certain to be headed for the door next week leaving behind portraits of herself on the walls and disgruntled staffers after her brief stint as a U.S. attorney comes to an end.

According to a report from the New York Times, her appointment as the U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey on an interim basis began in "chaos" and is now drawing to a close, with employees looking forward to her departure while also considering leaving too.

Habba's appointment as a the U.S. attorney was derailed by both of New Jersey's Democratic Senators Cory Booker and Andy Kim, limiting her to a 120-day term in office.

in reply to MicroWave

This is great news since she is unqualified even by Trump-staff-fingerpainting-on-the-Constitution standards, but:

Anyone know how/why Booker can limit her term, unless extended by the district courts? The OP article doesn't explain, and links to a paywalled NYT article.

How did a right wing populist party that began on YouTube win big in Japan’s recent election?

Its leader is a former supermarket manager who created his political party on YouTube in the depths of the coronavirus pandemic and campaigned on the Trumpian message “Japanese First.”

Now Japan’s burgeoning right-wing populist party Sanseito has emerged an unlikely winner in parliamentary elections this weekend.

Inspired by other populist right-wing groups that have sprung up in recent years, Sanseito bagged 14 seats in Japan’s upper house, according to public broadcaster NHK – a dramatic increase from the single seat it had occupied previously.

Traditional parties are consistently failing their nations all over the world.
The only ones offering any kind of hope for the future are snake-oil salesmen like this.

Russia launches deadly missile, drone attack at Ukraine

Russia on Monday launched a barrage of drones and missiles at Ukraine in an overnight attack, killing two people, wounding 15 and causing multiple fires in several parts of the country.

The attack came hours before French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot arrived in Kyiv for a two-day visit aimed at supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russia's invasion.

Russian strikes hit Kyiv metro where hundreds were sheltering

Russia launched a wave of drones and missiles at Ukraine in an overnight attack on Monday, killing at least one person in Kyiv and hitting a metro station where hundreds of people were sheltering.

There were fires across the capital and at least six people were wounded. Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said rescuers and medics were working on sites in four districts.

Smoke engulfed Lukianivska metro station, in an area that Moscow has repeatedly targeted. The Kremlin has dramatically stepped up its aerial bombardment of Ukrainian towns and cities in recent months, with Kyiv frequently bombed.

Video shows people standing on an underground platform filled with swirling dust. One woman can be heard sobbing.

Max, a 32-year-old resident, told the Guardian: “My friend ran to the underground. He called me during the night and said he heard the strike. Part of the building and even the roof tumbled down the escalator. There was smoke billowing on the platform.

Pope condemns Gaza war’s ‘barbarity’ as 93 reported killed by Israeli fire while waiting for food

Pope Leo XIV has condemned the “barbarity” of the war in Gaza and the “indiscriminate use of force” as Gaza’s civil defence agency said at least 93 Palestinians had been killed queueing for food and Israel issued fresh evacuation orders for areas packed with displaced people.

Gaza’s health ministry said scores were killed by Israeli fire while waiting for UN aid trucks entering through the northern Zikim crossing with Israel. It was one of the highest reported death tolls among repeated recent cases in which aid seekers have been killed by Israeli fire.

Spending this much time together, they're either raping underage girls or they're fucking each other. Testimony and evidence points to the former.

That's not how laws work, but who cares.
in reply to altkey (he\him)

It's almost like they're making up law violations to arrest and murder people who oppose the government or its bullshit war.

It's scary watching an empire collapse in real time.

What do you do?

There are countries that have active programs for Immigration of scientists from the USA.

In the EU, most of the countries at least, you don't need to look behind you.

There is a problem with illegal migrants / middle easterns here with low income that cause issues (speaking from experience), but overall is pretty safe.

Like, I was just going grocery shopping the other day and had an unmarked van behind me for what felt like an awkwardly long time. I immediately started formulating escape plans. I drove an extra long route to the store just to make sure I wasn’t being followed. Once I parked I sat in my car an extra few minutes to observe if any other suspicious vehicles also parked and if anybody got out. I made sure to message my wife that I parked, that I was on my way into the store, that I was 25%/50%/75% done getting items, that I was checking out, that I was back in the car and headed home.

These are not thoughts I should have to have. It sucks.

jesus fucking christ. i am sorry this is happening to you or anyone else.

in reply to AlecSadler

Every day my wife goes to work, I worry about her workplace being raided and my never seeing or hearing from her again.

I also worry that I might drive in the middle of it, and have to get involved. I should not have to have plans about how to rescue my wife from kidnapping at work.

in reply to silence7

yes. obviously trump is an Epstein client. can we please, PLEASE, move on from gathering evidence for something we've known for a decade and start fucking talking about what to do about it?
in reply to The Quuuuuill

Unless someone is willing to risk their own life to shoot him dead, nothing whatsoever will happen. Even if there are free & fair elections again (which there won't be) the Democrats will appoint Garland 2.0 in an effort to 'heal' & 'move on'.
in reply to Tehbaz

If you kill him, you make a martyr of him. That also leads to president couch-fucker. Of course the world would be better off if he'd never been born, but we can't do anything about that.

I'd rather he be painfully humiliated. Mutilate his genitals with garden shears in one of his oval office press conference tirades, live on TV. Added benefit of him never raping a child or writer or wife again.

in reply to MrVilliam

And even if the couch fucker got got, there'd still be Peter Thiel to contend with. Seeing as it groomed the couch fucker into the human fart he is today.

A guy who rapes children may have been close friends with another guy who rapes children.

Shocking!

in reply to notsure

They don't care how many kids he fucked or how many laws he's broken, all they care about is that he gives them permission to continue being ignorant bigots and a clear path to keep kicking down on the people they deem inferior.

Startup Claims Its Fusion Reactor Concept Can Turn Cheap Mercury Into Gold

Last week, Marathon Fusion, a San Francisco-based energy startup, submitted a preprint detailing an action plan for synthesizing gold particles via nuclear transmutation—essentially the process of turning one element into another by tweaking its nucleus. The paper, which has yet to undergo peer review, argues that the proposed system would offer a new revenue stream from all the new gold being produced, in addition to other economic and technological benefits.

so, out of curiosity, how many of those GBU-whoseiwhatsits designed to penetrate back doors... does trump have left?

Bet by next monday... that number goes down again.

in reply to kebab

I think I missed the part where they said this will all come at no cost to consumers... I'm sure it's just an oversight.
in reply to kebab

So they’ll just bring the EU variants to the US is what I gather from this.

Trump faces a revolt from his MAGA base over the Epstein files

Blames Hillary, Obama and Biden for the Epstein Files, which also don't exist.

I love that he's getting torched by his own.

in reply to Plurrbear

The underlying purpose of the whole Qanon movement was basically to give Trump supporters a way to explain why he wasn't delivering on his promises during his first term.
