Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve - Official Trailer | The Game Awards 2025

I love that they apparently decided to base the plot on the ghost of Kiev meme.

Looks really good. One of the better trailers of the night imo.

Total War: Warhammer 40,000 - Official Reveal Trailer | The Game Awards 2025

in reply to Nemeski

I've just started reading the Warhammer 40k books the last few months. This looks amazing, I can't wait to jump into that universe
in reply to Nemeski

holy shit those last few seconds of actual gameplay. game looks a lot like the Dawn of War series, which is fitting. I wasn't really sure 40k could fit the Total War mould, but seems like CA is willing to break the mould in pursuit of more money.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer - Official Reveal Trailer | The Game Awards 2025

in reply to Nemeski

I am disappointed seeing that the Need for Speed developers are from Criterion, and not former Black Box. Criterion's NFS games have been trash compared to Black Box, particularly the handling. They fall feel like mobile games thanks to their B2D mechanic, rather than the more predictable handling model from older titles.

I am still interested, of course. Episode 1 Racer was the best thing to come out of Episode 1. Hopefully this one is good and has active multiplayer.

in reply to RightHandOfIkaros

I thought Jedi Power Battles was good but that may be nostalgia glasses.
in reply to Billygoat

It was good, but Episode 1 Racer was better, IMO. It still holds the world record for best selling sci-fi racing game, beating out even F-Zero and Wipeout.

Also, Episode 1 Racer appeals to people that may not really care too much about Star Wars by being a good racing game regardless. Jedi Power Battles though, relies more on the Star Wars IP, IMO. Especially the PS1 and GBA ports, which honestly weren't that great in comparison to the Dreamcast version.

Saros - Official Pre-Order Trailer | The Game Awards 2025

in reply to Nemeski

I'm so hype for this! Returnal was one of my favourite pandemic era games I played, and really helped me get back into gaming as a hobby. Very excited to see what Housemarque have cooked up.

in reply to sigmaklimgrindset

Is Returnal as hard as they say? I've heard good things, but I've also heard it's incredibly unforgiving and hard. I'm a little scared I won't be able to finish it.
in reply to Coelacanth

It does get very hard, but it's also a game that doesn't require finishing IMO. I've played till it too hard or I needed a break and then come back to it a couple of months or a year or two later and get further every time. It's awesome.
in reply to M137

You're not necessarily selling me on it with that comment, but I'm glad you're loving it! 😅
in reply to Coelacanth

One one hand, yes it’s hard. But also, some progression is permanent, and it is possible to build momentum over the course of a single run and over all you runs in a way that can snowball. The first biome and boss is probably the hardest, because you as a player are at your least skilled and the caps on your maximum power are still quite low as well. If you can push past the first biome and boss, you can beat the game because your power cap grows faster than the difficulty does.

Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons - Official Announcement Trailer | The Game Awards 2025

in reply to Nemeski

Very interesting, cannot wait to find out who/what they are gonna be using as the patron and how they are gonna execute that whole dynamic.

From the image, I'd guess Raven Queen but that feels too on the nose.

Lords of the Fallen 2 - Official Gameplay Trailer | The Game Awards 2025

in reply to Nemeski

Extra hype for this. The first was a lot of fun and the enemy/world design imo is amazing.
in reply to Nemeski

One of my favorite concepts from the first one was how the lore bit of item descriptions are locked behind having a high enough relevant stat.

So, like, the evil weapons from hell or whatever only give you the story text parts if you have enough inferno and the divine, heavenly stuff requires having a higher radiance.

I hope they take the criticism of the first game to heart in the sequel tho. I liked it, but I do also agree with what people have said sucked about it. The combat isn't weighty enough, the level design is pretty basic, and there was little enemy variety. Story and worldbuilding is okay, but I like RA Salvatore, too, despite (or maybe because of) the over the top, edgy teenage angstiness of it all. Lean into the original ideas and step away from trying to be just like the games that inspired LOTF in tone.

007 First Light - Official Lenny Kravitz Trailer | The Game Awards 2025

in reply to Nemeski

007 games are great hidden gems. Everyone knows Goldeneye, but Nightfire, Everything or Nothing, and From Russia with Love are all amazing spy shooters. Hopefully this one gets the same magic
in reply to Sophocles

Nightfire, Everything or Nothing, and From Russia with Love are all amazing spy shooters

I have to disagree on Nightfire--that game was painful (not as painful as Rogue Agent, but still).

EON and FRWL are great though..I'd love to see updated remasters/remakes of them.

in reply to sawdustprophet

Depends which version of Nightfire you played. The PC and console versions are very different.

Tomb Raider: Catalyst - Official Reveal Trailer | The Game Awards 2025

in reply to Nemeski

I'll be real, it was good that they showed this trailer first. Because Legacy of Atlantis is going to be way more popular. Catalyst looks like a game the executives demanded, and the developers said "Okay, we will make that if you let us make Legacy of Atlantis."

I have not interest in Catalyst, but Legacy of Atlantis had me. Especially at the dinosaurs.

in reply to Nemeski

So this will be a main series game? I actually kinda miss the design from the Survivor trilogy tbh.

Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis - Official Announcement Trailer | The Game Awards 2025

in reply to Nemeski

Hyped for this!

Wonder why they decided to announce both at the same time though. Seems like a bit of an odd choice.

in reply to Robomekk

I think Legacy of Atlantis is actually a remake of the first Tomb Raider, so I think Crystal Dynamics wanted to be like "Don't worry guys, you're also getting a new one" at the same time.
in reply to sigmaklimgrindset

I wonder how many re-makes of TR1 we’ll get in all. So far:

  • TR1
  • Tomb Raider Anniversary (same story, similar levels, new controls and engine)
  • TR1 Remastered (original engine, new models and textures
  • Legend of Atlantis (modified story? Otherwise all new)

Not tired of them yet, played them all so far and won’t stop now.

in reply to Nemeski

I'm glad the tone is going back to the original games. I hated the tone of the reboot series, it turned one of the representations of strong, capable women in games and pop culture into a perpetual screaming rape victim.

There was a lot of neckbeard stuff going on around the time of the reboot, but seriously, it felt like they rebooted indiana jones and turned him into a whimpering victim. I get that's what they were going for, and the tone they wanted and etc, younger Lara, whatever. It turned a powerful character established as independent and capable and stripped it away.

in reply to Skullgrid

As someone who can barely remember the original games I could have been fine with a weaker and scared portrayal, especially towards the beginning of her career - but the tonal dissonance between that & her routinely slaughtering dozens of goons without showing any remorse destroyed the immersion. The whiplash between the two extremes was just too much.

in reply to FooBarrington

Yeah the gameplay definitely didnt match the tone. Killing was the only option for most of the game. In the cutscenes, she was portrayed as a survivor or whatever. Then in the actual gameplay she was a stone cold killer.

Same problem with the harry potter game. It's supposed to be about the school, but then you end up wandering the world murdering 100s of people

in reply to Skullgrid

I thought that was the intent of the reboot trilogy. At the end of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, she is hardened now and gets her second pistol. But I played that once back in 2018 so I don’t remember exactly how that game went with themes.
