Far-right, pro-Israel candidate José Antonio Kast will become the next president of Chile after winning the second-round voting on Sunday with 60% of the votes.

Son of a former Nazi official, Kast will replace a Chilean administration led by Gabriel Boric, a vocal critic of Israel and the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to the point of stopping diplomatic relations months after the October 7 attacks.

Kast was one of the main opponents of Boric’s foreign affairs policy, and promised during his campaign that he “would rectify the mistakes made by Boric,” which he called “whims” and “tantrums” on more than one occasion.

“Chile's foreign relations are too relevant to prioritize the whims of a President over the interests of the Nation. Boric, once again, evidences his antisemitism by leaving Israel out of FIDAE [Santiago’s international air show], in an irresponsible and markedly ideological decision,” he posted on X in March 2024.

Summary and My opinions on this news. Its kinda long but its really about my country and I wanted to open up a bit so please don't mind. You can just read the news if you want to:-

Cabinet under the Leadership of PM Modi has greenlit the SHANTI Bill (Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India).

PM Modi and the Cabinet claims that it will end the long lasted monompoly of NPCIL in Nuclear Sector and will promote innovations in nuclear sector and help India in achieving its target of 100GW energy through nuclear sector by 2047. India currently produces 8,880 megawatts energy from currently operational 25 nuclear reactors, 17 more are currently under construction which will help India achieve 22,000 megawatts of energy by 2032.

This bill is said to consolidate fragmented laws, Plug regulatory laws etc. It is shown as a framework to boost India's true nuclear potential. It is slated for tabling in upcoming Monday or tuesday of next week.

This bill mainly modernises the current Atomic Energy Act 1962. According to the new proposals it grants entry of private players in activities regarding this sector such as atomic mineral exploration, fuel fabrication, equipment manufacturing, and select plant operations after verified licensing and approval.

To uphold the new rules and regulations, a new independent Nuclear safety authority will be made which will overview the operations and safety in this sector and is said to ensure International Standards.

To further lure private investments the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act has been revised and many goverenment gaurantees will be offered.

The goverenment body of NPCIL for this sector targets 50% of this 100GW target, so the other 50GW is free for Private sectors to dominate.

So far, this idea seems good. I, from the start have showed this bills positives and negatives in my previous posts as well.

As long as rules and regulations are upholded (Which is not always the case) this is a good intiative. We know how sloppy goverenment bodies are, and the private sector should not be restricted from this sector if India wants to grow, but also, this should be ensured that no single private company monopolises this sector, small comapnies should also be promoted in this sector by additional benefits and the nuclear authority, rather than only upholding rules, should also ensure fair competition so that small companies are not eaten up by the new ones.

We should also propose a Standard Technology Criteria for this sector which should be set up by goverenment and should clearly state atleast the minimum level of technology required for energy production in this sector and should be revised in every 20-30 years on average with changing times and new technologies should be added. Not just that, in such sitauations when the transformation from one gen tech to another gen tech is being conducted, the Goverenment should monetarily support Small Private players in this sector for smooth transformation and so that they don't lag behind others. These were my opinions.

Ella Moulsdale, Zuhrah’s next of kin, said that Zuhrah had repeatedly buzzed for a nurse and begged her to conduct basic medical tests.

“As she continued to be ignored, she then started to beg for an ambulance to come because she knew that something was happening,” Moulsdale said.

A prison officer told her to wait for the night nurse to start her shift at 11pm.

At 10:30pm the nurse arrived to take her vitals – a series of tests to measure key bodily functions – and an ECG (electrocardiogram) test. She said she would be back in 10 minutes with the test results.

By 12:30am, the nurse had still not returned, so Zuhrah buzzed prison medical staff for help, saying “Can you ring an ambulance? I’m scared”. They hung up on her.

“I've got her on the phone and listening to her audibly in pain and unable to respond properly. And all I can do is ask her to breathe heavier so I can ensure that she's still breathing. I'm not a first responder, I'm not a medical practitioner,” Grant told MEE.

“This is how people die in their cells. She could barely get up to call me, and all I could do was try to call for the nurse for her, and then get back to listening to her cry in pain and struggle to breathe."

At 2am, the nurse returned and informed her that “you don’t decide if you go to hospital, I do”.

Meanwhile, Zuhrah’s friends repeatedly called the prison requesting an ambulance, who they said “kept hanging up” on them. They tried ringing for ambulances directly, but were informed that this would have to be arranged through the prison.

“We were being told by ambulance operators that they have no power over whether an ambulance goes to a prison or not, because it is up to the prison whether they will accept an ambulance," Moulsdale said.

“If someone collapses in a prison, they don't get an ambulance sent to them. The prison gets to decide.”

From 8am onwards, four NHS doctors also repeatedly tried to contact the prison. James Smith, a doctor who supports the hunger strikers and their families, told MEE that he was put through to an answer machine when he called the prison.

At 9:30am, the prison finally called an ambulance after Zuhrah lost consciousness. The prison did not notify Zuhrah’s next of kin about her hospitalisation, despite promising they would.

So I had the galaxy S4.. Up and away... I have used Galaxy S everything, iPhone Pro fuck the Max and I'm going to say as a U.S. buyer, they fucked 90+% of people. If you are calling, texting, emailing, playing 99% of games. I have a Pixel 9 Pro sitting on a shelf, that I don't find reason to use. I use a phone that was $70 when I bought it, And it's like 120 max now.

I work in IT and have since 2011.. most people are buying $800+ phones for no reason. Let's get people in the practice of realizing a $200 phone, does everything a $1200 dollar phone does. Why pay 6x more for shit you honestly don't need.

Are my 50mp camera photos good, yeah. Are they as good as the latest flagship, no. But why should most users care. The memories is what most care about, not the pixels that show someone's cheek had a mark on it with higher definition.

It's stupidity. We could save our families near $1000 a year by telling them it is ridiculous. Why because they buy a $1000 phone.. every couple years.... Why? $120 can do it the same.

The phone was/is a Moto G Play 2014, the same options will be made from others.. but it's true. No point in picking up a pixel. I have 2 days left of battery left, and it didn't charge last night because it never fell below 80%
