Anything with plastic in it, including furniture, flooring, and the glue that holds together layers of plywood.

These people are ghouls. I'm not trying to make comments about her appearance, but just look at her eyes. There is no light, no life, and she looks miserable.

This is what a lifetime of hate does to you. Hope everyone has a good day.

For the impatient, the camera feed from this particular segment starts around 7:08 and it actually gets destroyed around 9:20.

Also, it's nice to see a video with "destroyed" in the title where something actually gets destroyed.

IF only certain politicians could also get destroyed in a similar manner..

jwt doesn't like this.

ICC shuns US demands to drop Israel war crimes probe and amend treaty

In a statement issued on Wednesday after its annual meeting in The Hague earlier this week, the Assembly of States Parties (ASP) vowed to uphold the integrity of the Rome Statute and said it was “gravely concerned” by threats and coercive measures targeting the court.

The meeting took place in the shadow of US sanctions already imposed against a number of ICC senior officials, including judges and the chief prosecutor, Karim Khan.

Diplomats speaking on the sidelines of the event told MEE that the Trump administration had tried to exert further pressure on the ICC in the leadup to the ASP meeting by calling on the court to drop its investigations into war crimes in Palestine and Afghanistan as a condition for lifting sanctions.

How do I get a circle on mastodon (or any other non-thread social media)

Hello, I am a person who has only used thread based "social media" their whole life. I never liked platforms such as twitter and instagram and preferred aggregators like reddit, and nowadays, lemmy.

I tried joining twitter once, failed, closed my account and went back to reddit. Same with instagram. Kind of glad that I did not use them.

I recently created an instagram account because my friends use it's messaging feature. And because my generation uses instagram handles like phone numbers of old (i am 20).

I really want an active mastodon account. There are really cool people there and there are some thoughts I can't express with the "forum format".

I mostly repost cool stuff I see, but even after joining a reasonable amount of discourse, and trying not to look like a bot, I am yet to get a workable amount of social circle. Whereas I easily fit into places like lemmy.

what am i doing wrong

edit: Just realized the title looks like a "I wanna be famous" post. It really is not

I only follow people on mastodom who post original content or I know them IRL. There is no good reason to follow a random user who only repost things.
in reply to yogurtwrong

Apart from the stuff already mentioned, never stop shouting into the void about stuff that interests you or projects you’re working on. Add a few relevant hashtags so your toots can be discovered. It may take a while, but people will come. Don’t give up.

Nobel laureate Oleksandra Matviichuk urges Germany to provide Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles, calls on Berlin to act more decisively toward Moscow

in reply to Sepia

Unlikely to happen as production of Taurus cruise missiles has been suspended.

If you really want people to think positively about the person in question, I suggest not to name the Nobel peace prize within the text. Kissinger and Machado should be enough to suspect a neonazi bias.

Is there a way to contact the admin?

It's usually recommended to have a Matrix account or another Lemmy/Piefed community to be able to get news in this kind of scenario

Major earthquake strikes Japan's north-east coast

A major earthquake of magnitude 7.6 has hit Japan's north-eastern region.

It prompted tsunami warnings which have now been downgraded to advisories, while waves of 40cm (16in) were seen in some places.

Local media reports that some people in the region have been injured, while trains have been suspended as a precaution.

A Fediverse Enhancement Proposal (FEP) is a document that provides information to the Fediverse community. The goal of a FEP is to improve interoperability and well-being of diverse services, applications and communities that form the Fediverse.

The FEP Process is an initiative of the SocialHub developer community, a liaison of the W3C Social Web Incubator Community Group.

Discovered this today. If you're on the developer side of things or are interested in how the Fediverse / ActivityPub is being built and enhanced, take a look at this codeberg repo.

Re: Fediverse Enhancement Proposals

Indeed, this is where the majority of improvements to the Fediverse are shared for archival.

The very way Lemmy Piefed Mbin and NodeBB can communicate and synchronize communities is detailed in those FEPs. Check out FEP 1b12.

Chinese company Tencent enlisting U.S. cloud hosting provider Vultr to enforce censorship well beyond the borders of China

in reply to Hotznplotzn

on November 28, 2025, with many of our questions still left unanswered, Vultr closed GreatFire's account at Tencent’s request. In doing so, Vultr acted as Tencent’s vehicle to extend Chinese censorship well beyond the borders of China.

Totally agree. However, freewechat is up - guessing they changed providers pretty quick, maybe already saw this coming. Let this be the Streisand effect they (and China) deserve.

How in the hell can they claim "inflation" has nothing to do with actual grocery prices? The system is so far out of touch with reality it is amazing anyone gives them a shred of credibility.
in reply to asg101

Because if they had to truly report on inflation, and include everything properly, it's never been what they've said, it's probably been 5x at least, or more.
in reply to asg101

Because inflation is the devaluing of money due to the amount of money in circulation, not just "prices go up". When prices increase due to a lack of competition, that's something different.
in reply to Kichae

That's incorrect on every level. There is a set "basket of goods" upon which CPI inflation is set. Grocery prices went up, other items went down. The net was zero, but grocery chains are fucking us over for profit because we need to eat to live.

in reply to Chais

Yes but I immediately become skeptical if the findings are cherry picked/exaggerated/early and if the suggested solutions are the right ones.

They are at least non profit according to bloomberg bloomberg.com/profile/company/…

in reply to Scolding7300

Actually that's not them. Can't find any info on them besides what they publish themselves

Chinese jets directed fire-control radar at Japanese aircraft, Japan says

Chinese fighter jets directed fire-control radar at Japanese military aircraft near Japan's Okinawa islands in two incidents, Japan's defence minister said on Sunday, condemning the move as "dangerous".

"These radar illuminations went beyond what is necessary for the safe flight of aircraft," Shinjiro Koizumi posted on X, adding that Japan had lodged a protest with China over Saturday's "regrettable" incident.

A fire-control radar lock is one of the most threatening acts a military aircraft can take because it signals a potential attack, forcing the targeted aircraft to take evasive action.

Or the middle option: She's incompetent but this is what the people guiding her want.

in reply to silence7

No, we all face higher deductibles and premiums. Fewer enrollees means a smaller risk pool and fewer dollars in the insurance and health care system as a whole. Prices will have to go up to keep equilibrium as well as more denial and delay of care. Hospitals and providers will probably also close up shop or consolidate to save costs. We're all getting screwed unless money is simply no object for you.
in reply to silence7

Our healthcare system is such a fucking disaster. And we're actively being blocked from fixing anything with it.

in reply to inclementimmigrant

"It's the economy, stupid"

Sort of goes back to that whole Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

in reply to inclementimmigrant

Yea... But like what would you even do?

I genuinely don't even know what Dems can do at this point to fix 4 decades of Republican fuckery and moving wealth to the top?

Little fixes won't do shit, and there is no way Democrats are bold enough to do something massive like taxing the rich at 90% again.

I'm afraid when Dems are back in power they won't be able to do shit, because they don't really have revolutionary ideas and if they did Republicans would stop them.

Republicans have driven the economy into the ditch and over the cliff, changing the wiper fluid won't do shit.

They aren't sure if he is already pardoned. As Trump pardoned all crimes tied to Jan 6th or some generalized statement like that.

Obamacare subsidies expire this month. Many Republicans are shrugging.

Obamacare premiums are set to spike for tens of millions of Americans next month. Plenty of rank-and-file Republicans are happy to sit back and ride it out.

Some vulnerable GOP lawmakers up for reelection are scrambling for a last-minute fix to renew the enhanced federal health care subsidies keeping costs down. But even if party leaders and Donald Trump were to rally around a plan in the coming days — and there’s no sign of that happening — many conservatives are likely to revolt.

Democrats have vowed to hammer the GOP in the midterms if they allow the federal aid to expire, but many on the right expect the political fallout to be minimal, or even to backfire on Democrats. For other conservatives, any blowback will be worth it if it means they get to rein in a system the party has fundamentally opposed since its launch more than a decade ago.

China funnelled $80 billion into overseas cleantech in past year, report says

Research from the Net Zero Industrial Policy Lab at Johns Hopkins University found that 75% of China's low-carbon foreign direct investment is in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

Southeast Asia remained the top destination for Chinese cleantech manufacturing investments, the CEF report found

The Middle East and North Africa were the fastest-growing investment destinations, driven by national strategies for diversifying away from oil.
