During testing, the AI agent also ordered a PlayStation5 and live betta fish, and staffers convinced it to give away almost everything for free, losing a bunch of money. Sounds fun!

Anthropic’s response was that this was all part of the stress testing plan, actually, and that one day the model would “probably be able to make you a lot of money.” Maybe just not any time soon.

@edintone great question! I've wondered the same thing myself. When in doubt, zoom out. If you scroll back enough and get to early November one of my counts was 10,537,011 so overall, it is indeed increasing and the roughly +20k per week is accurate. My guess is those saw tooth dips are when larger instances like mastodon.social either intentionally or unintentionally purge inactive, suspended or spam accounts from their database.
