if you're interested in readability instead of just differing between serif or sans you might get a better insight by asking people with impaired sight. The American Braille Institut brailleinstitute.org/ has therefore developed their own free font aptly named „Atkinson Hyperlegible Next“. Part of the Google fonts collection, too.
