🎑MOON VIEWING🥮
On the 15th day of the 8th month in the lunar calendar (September 17th this year) people gather to admire the beauty of the harvest moon, and in appreciation make offerings of food.
Known as 'Otsukimi' (お月見) or 'Jūgoya' (十五夜 'Evening of the 15th'), the festival's origin was likely rooted in agricultural rituals thanking the moon god for good harvests.
As the moon constantly waxes and wanes, it became symbol of revival.
The waxing moon is celebrated the following month.
🎑SYMBOLS OF MOON-VIEWING🐇
Displays of obana (susuki) and small pyramids of dango are often seen around 'moon viewing' season...prayers for (and symbols of) a bountiful harvest.
As they resemble rice plants, susuki fronds (commonly in groups of 5 or 10) were the perfect symbol for what originally started as a prayer for good harvests.
Decorations would be arranged on the 'tsukimidai' (月見台), typically a window sill, where people could enjoy the moon.
Small pyramids made up of white 'tsukimi dango' , each representing the full moon, are used first as decoration and then later eaten for health and happiness.
The small, chewy balls are typically found in groups of 12 (1 for each month) or 15 (symbolising the 15th day).
Sweet potatoes are often made as an offering to the 9th month full moon, chestnuts and beans to the following full moon.

Every so often I buy an ebook which seems to have specifically been written for me. This is one of those books.

While we're on the topic, here's another book which seems to have been written entirely with me in mind. Utterly brilliant, devoured it. amzn.to/3XKlR2q

I really want to read this after watching Ferdinand Habsburg compete in an endurance race last weekend. I can't decide whether he's foolish for tempting fate, or brilliant for figuring that 200+ mph is not the riskiest thing a man with that name can do in a car (too soon?).
Oh, and to add a book that might also hit those same interests, have you read Burned Bridge by Edith Sheffer? It's about sister cities divided by the Inner German Border.

What's your favorite Indie game at the moment?
I'm not the boss of you, but I suggest you share links to an RPG you enjoy from a tiny press that could use some love and attention. What are you reading and playing out there in the wider world that others might not know about? What draws you to it?
Shares welcomed for extended visibility.

For me it's a strong 1980s Swedish Coop brands vibe: The toothpaste "Toothpaste", the shaving foam "Shaving Foam", etc, all in white packaging, the product name in white block print capitals on blue rectangle.
