Thousands of people have emigrated from Israel to western countries since 7 October 2023, saying they do not feel safe after over a year of war with Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon, The Independent reported on 20 December.

Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics estimated in September that 40,600 Israelis departed long-term over the first seven months of 2024, a 59 percent increase over the same period a year earlier.

US judge finds Israel's #NSO Group liable for hacking in #WhatsApp lawsuit - reuters.com/technology/cyberse… “Today's ruling makes it clear that NSO Group is in fact responsible for breaking numerous laws.”

Although Israel can today sustain its existence due to US and European support that props it up, the damning accusations that are based on meticulously researched reports will forever follow it around.

While the report’s conclusions alone may not present a significant challenge to the Israeli government, it does when viewed in conjunction with the litany of other stances adopted about the nature of Israel as a state.

A 16km trail run at -8°C in the morning after we got a bit of fresh snow during the night. There's more to come in the next few days, so it's looking like a proper white Christmas this year ☃️

Parts of the trails are quite icy, especially when crossing small streams, and somehow it almost feels like #running a small obstacle course

The UN General Assembly overwhelmingly voted to ask the ICJ to issue an opinion on the legality of Israel’s latest legislative attack on the primary humanitarian group for Palestinians in Gaza and elsewhere as experts and advocates say such attacks warrant expulsion from the international body.

The resolution, brought by Norway, passed on Thursday, 137 to 12, with the United States, Argentina and Israel voting against it.

Germany on Friday expressed dismay over a Human Rights Watch report which accused Israel of committing “acts of genocide” in Gaza by deliberately depriving Palestinian civilians there of adequate access to water

“These reports are of course shocking. And I think it is really urgent that the Israeli government, so to speak, deals with these allegations and addresses them,” deputy Foreign Ministry spokesperson Christian Wagner said.

Maybe if they didn’t have their heads stuck so far up Israel’s ass they wouldn’t be as shocked to see the crimes that the genocidal maniacs they’re selling weapons to are committing.

Can't listen to this nonsense from the Germans anymore. The Hague will hopefully punish them soon.

According to MME:
In 2023, approved arms exports to Israel increased tenfold compared to the previous year, and over 80 percent of licence applications were granted after 7 October. The licensing volume for war weapons amounted to over $21m in 2023, and as much as $344m for military equipment.

Marina Hyde points out: 'the absolutely crucial thing to grasp about the Post Office scandal is that there are two classes of people in this story – the sort of little people who go to prison & the sort of big people who wrongly send them there, yet fail upwards thereafter'!

As compensation is still delayed & prosecutions for their actions seem unlikely for PO managers, the Post Office scandal has become exemplary of the cancer eating away at British society!

An Israeli air strike has killed 10 members of a family, including seven children, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Civil Defence rescue agency has reported.

A video posted by the agency on Friday evening showed its staff retrieving victims from under the rubble.

The Israeli army told AFP it had struck “several terrorists who were operating in a military structure belonging to the Hamas terrorist organisation”.

For forty protestors in prison (nearly half on remand & therefore still formal innocent of any crime), this is very much not the season of goodwill....

The UK (as we know) leads the democratic world in locking up protestors; its not a good indicator of how we value democracy....

Protest is a vital part of democracy, cracking down on it in such a forceful manner tells us much about what the Govt. really thinks about dissent...

But it also telegraphs something important about the insecurity of the establishment in the face of true grassroots sentiment. They are caught between the moneyed interests requiring them to act against the public’s best interests and the ability of protestors to put them in an unfavourable light. And this is how they deal with essentially gentle middle class dissent, which is a long long way from violent grassroots working class dissent that ends in stringing them up.
