Getting back on the #writing horse tonight, after too goddamn many days of not having the mental resources to handle it. And I think another reason I've been putting it off is that I knew I needed to cut a big chunk of stuff from one scene.

It turns out to have been about 1138 words. Ouch. That'll make my graph look funny, but so what.

Also, I can probably put them back in later on. This particular soliloquy isn't *bad*, it's just too early in the book for... 1/2

...this particular character to be opening up this way. He's supposed to be playing it close to the chest until later.

Anyway. It's good to be doing some writing again, even if my time-spent and word count will probably both be pretty low tonight. (Even as I try to fill in the rest of the scene, the word count may well wind up negative for today. Unless I wind up going on for a lot longer than I think I'll be able to.) 2/2

Lithuania’s Vilnius airport reopen after airspace disruption byteseu.com/1605784/ #airspace #balloons #Belarus #interruptions #Lithuania #Vilnius

Of all the questionable things about AI, I'm starting to think its biggest crime is simply the staggering amount of resources it has pointlessly drawn away from other, more important work and the way it has corrupted even organisations that were previously doing great work in some misguided, race-to-the-bottom belief that this is actually the most important thing for humankind.

the amount of damage to basically every major tech company is staggering, from the programs and code which have been wrecked, loss of reputation, good people losing their jobs or being taken off good projects for AI work... And as consumers we can't even complain because you have to deal with the AI chat bot...

@Quentin Worse, it's not just limited to major tech companies. This even applies to some smaller ones, even some not-for-profits, but it extends far beyond tech companies now.

Yes. Organizations are made of persons, and the majority of ordinary persons want to follow what they think are the trends.

Czech president warns Europe not to appease Russia byteseu.com/1605780/ #CzechRepublic #Czechia

Europeans could look to the west and see the US as a sick framily member.

The US is a powerful player - but its system is shocked, as it has been many times. They are suffering and we should support them. That is what friends do, and in the free world we value the dream of kindness. And that should be rewarded.

Help them dream, as they dream.

Shift your attention and your experience may change. Steer it genty to there you want to go.

Stereolab tonight from up in the posh seats.

Weirdly they actually cost the same as the stalls but you need to book them quickly (they cost us £37 each!). A private booth for 4 people is pretty sweet, no putting up with anyone else's bullshit (talking, farting, pushing or blocking the view) at the gig.

Autistic folk, this is definitely worth considering!

The 2nd picture is the opposite view of the boxes. Amazing early 1950s futurism in the concert hall 😍

in reply to Mat B

That's fantastic.

How was the performance?

I actually only attended my first gig last year and got a box, which was only fractionally more expensive than regular seats. Definitely worth the money, I think, in terms of making the experience more autism friendly.

@Shivviness

The performance was good. Sadly they didn't play French Disko. My friend who got us the tickets saw them quite recently and said they opened with it but at 200 mph, like they wanted to get it out of the way.

I'd never considered a box as an option before. I was struck how much I enjoyed the personal space and freedom. Having an autistic person in my life, and generally being aware of differing needs, it was a real lightbulb moment for me that it's a great option for people who might need a different experience.

I have noticed all the major companies hiring in my deep red state are full inclusion and progressive.
