studies done on patents showed that money tended to be locked up in agrarian concerns before patents. since land was the scarcity then textiles and food were where people fought over economically. (considering we need food, maybe not the worst idea.) patents allow creating artificial scarcity so the billionaires can fight over that now instead.

i don't think they really care about much other than just. the automation factor means the product has to be purchased or you lose. and helpfully production of the product tends to be expensive--which benefits people who already have tons of money, and can afford to enter the market, with less risk of unauthorized upstarts entering the club. we see this pretty regularly. ex. the biggest anti-weed lobby right now is the alcohol industry. pfizer et all support malregulation too since the FDA is a revolving door to pfizer and keeps unauthorized upstarts from doing annoying shit like curing tooth decay.

so, i do not think it even matters that "its AI." i think its just systems stock/flows of "i see an opportunity to insert myself as a mandatory tax on all of mankind" just like the industrial revolutions before it basically amount to.

the fact anyone is ever helped by business products is entirely secondary to making you dependent on paying the vig.
