#FreeSoftwareAdvent I couldn't work without LibreOffice or Thunderbird. The former is a fantastic and comprehensive office suite, and the latter is Mozilla's IMAP and POP3 email client.
I suggested using them years ago at a work meeting, and since then, Microsoft tools have been discarded in favor of their opensource alternatives.
We are water stressed all over Kent exacerbated by low rainfall, geology, overpopulation and poor infrastructure.
We can't keep building in such an environmentally stressed area.

There's something in the water at the DWP: Neil Couling, the director general of DWP services, in a blog post now removed, suggested that the victims of the care-payments-claw-back scandal were really themselves to blame for their situation...
These are people whose lives have be ruined while trying to do the right thing for their loved ones, by laziness & cost-cutting at the DWP.
Its an appalling indictment of the inhumanity of our politics

in reply to kravietz 🦇 • • •federation of replies in 4.5 was really quantum leap forward... quoting not so much, it was rather cosmetic detail. But we still need "starter packs", to substitute the algorithm.
I hope we can gradually start promoting Mastodon as European social network. I hope to spread the word by marginalised web media, which cannot catch with recent trends.
But first of all, the illusion, that "everybody is on Facebook/Xitter/Instagram" must be broken. Not everybody is there, the impact is lower than it seems, you won't even reach the people you actually know, many interactions are fake, etc.
It is important to fine tune the story and find good talking points. Fediverse has to also evolve... of course.
