My social life is barely there, maybe I should join the new cult that opened a centre in the high street
in reply to internetsdairy

@TheBreadmonkey I’ve found myself considering joining a university society. I don’t think there’s Fedi Club
@Ben

@TheBreadmonkey I have worked for this university on several fixed term contracts over the past 3 and a half years but right now I’m a PhD student
@Ben
in reply to internetsdairy

@TheBreadmonkey I’ve been a researcher for quite a while but I used to be independent and outside academia. I sold out in 2022. I also hop disciplines. Right now I’m in psychology but who knows where I’ll end up. Anyway, I’m technically a student again, so I can do SU stuff

Habitat preferences of European bison in contemporary European landscapes
besjournals.onlinelibrary.wile…
Megafauna populations have been lost in many regions, and with them, their ecological roles. Restoring those species that have survived depends on understanding their habitat requirements in contemporary, human-dominated landscapes.

Unveiling Lady Scott overturns the long-standing narrative surrounding the Frenchwoman, a figure often sidelined within Scotland’s national story.

The book is written by Dr Céline Sabiron, who has a PhD on Sir Walter Scott from the prestigious Sorbonne University in Paris.

The #Handmaid’s Tale has become more and more plausible

Margaret #Atwood has said the plot of her book The Handmaid’s Tale, which tells a story of an #authoritarian #regime under which women are forced to reproduce, has become “more and more plausible” in recent years.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, Atwood said she believed the plot was “bonkers” when she first developed the concept for the novel because the #US was the “ #democratic ideal ” at the time.

Helen Whately is on #BBCLauraK she says, "People with ADHD should not be entitled to receive notability cars."

Laura asks "How many people does that affect?"

Helen "I don't know"

Idiot

(You only get motability cars if you difficulty getting around. I am entitled to one, but I am terrible driver and a genuine liability to other road users)

I aspire to achieve the much simpler mindset of people who give something from amazon 1 star because it was damaged in shipping.

The world's longest running industrial action and strike has finally been resolved! Work restarts Monday on the Stonehenge Multistorey car park.😉

if I had the $80 a year, I'd get bookshare. Yes, I love Bard, but bookshare has some excellent collections of books that Bard doesn't have in full. #Blind
in reply to Martin

I don't know. I know bard is a service, but I don't know about bookshare yet.
in reply to Nicks World

Some libraries include bookshare in their membership. Check with yours. The Perkins Braille and Talking book Library does include it but I contribute as well because I believe in the service.
in reply to Nicks World

@mcourcel Some states have Bookshare as part of their Talking Book program, and a few through their public libraries. I don't know if Virginia is one of those. California and New York are, that I do know.
in reply to Nicks World

@Lynn What? who said that? I don't know what you're talking about. Lol! Well, I guess you could visit the library while visiting?
in reply to Martin

@mcourcel @Lynn I'll have to ask. I guess there's no harm getting a library card if it doesn't require an address.
in reply to Nicks World

@mcourcel @Lynn Your public library might have access to audiobooks for free as well. Libby is a pretty good ap to use for that. It has kindle books too and has audio books that are not yet on BARD or may never be.

D'excellentes idées nouvelles dans #Myala2 de @LilianPCB, et un style qui s'affine au fil des livres.
Le doublet #Myala1 et #Myala2 fait ressentir la progression de l'auteur.
