Changing the world is both incredibly easy & incredibly difficult.
Incredibly difficult because the cost of committing to it has no upper limit. It could cost you everything.
Incredibly easy because simple changes in how we interact with the world & each other can eventually translate to cultural change.

China's T-Flight, a magnetic levitation (maglev) train designed to travel at speeds up to 600 mph (965 km/h) in a low pressure/vacuum tube over the ground.
It is an engineering marvel, a dream for train enthusiast like me to read and one day maybe able to travel in.
Such projects will change the world of transport and replace planes with safe, rapid and environmentally friendly alternative.

The Work Foundation's has estimated, based on Office of National Statistics' data, levels of youth unemployment and the number of 16-24 year olds who have been unemployed for over a year.
While overall unemployment among young people is rising significantly, perhaps even more worryingly longer term unemployment has risen in absolute terms by over 60% in two years.
And we know prolonged periods of unemployment early on cast a long shadow over lifetime earnings & opportunities

Happy John Mastodon Day, for those who celebrate! 🎂
On this day in 2022, a clueless columnist misunderstood the name of a Twitter account and created a hero (boingboing.net/2022/12/18/mast…). Or at least a running gag.
In the beginning, John Mastodon created Mastodon and named it after himself. In the meantime, it turned out that there is also Joan Mastodon (sfba.social/@soaproot/11532915…) who might be an alternate identity of John Mastodon or someone else altogether. In any case, she once insisted that all toots should be sung (mastodonapp.uk/@the_roamer/115…) — a tradition that should be revived in due time.
But now it is time to thank John and Joan for their joint work and wish them well for the future. May the Mastodon grow! 🎉

@olsenprime@mastodon.social John Mastodon has many names and genders: #JoanMastodon , #FreddyVerse , #DonToMás and many others. Or maybe those are all different people. It can be hard to tell when poring through the legends.soaproot (SFBA.social)

in reply to Artemis • • •Like, I think the rejection of AI in favor of actively & intentionally choosing what is created by humans could lead to a radical shift in society away from barren, dead, cold, corporate convenience & toward a preference for things real, unique, & above all, human.
I can't say it *will* do that, but along with other factors right now, I think it might—it could.
Sometimes we change the world cumulatively. We move together, like a murmuration of birds: acting individually, but not independently.
