A wide, outdoor shot depicts a field covered in snow with tall, dry, orange-brown vegetation in the foreground and a line of bare trees in the background. The vegetation appears to be reeds or grasses, standing densely packed and reaching upward, partially obscuring the snow beneath. The trees are thin and leafless, creating a stark contrast against the lighter sky. The snow appears to be undisturbed, with no visible footprints or tracks. The overall scene is set in winter, with muted colors and a sense of stillness.

How gross to choose your employer (and AI) over your community.

Clinton should be ashamed and shunned.

in reply to John Wilker 👨🏽‍💻

@jwilker it is sooo bad

That Anthropic guy is delusional and clearly one of the borderline cases where they actually have a "relationship" with the bot. And that "relationship" was so important (as well as the power tripping) that he ruined a safe space for others. I hope they all go off and make a nice channel without him and leave him to spiral into insanity with his bot friend.

I am absolutely loving these wallpapers. This one is having a formatting issue on my Mac, the bottom of the F is being cut off at the bottom or the screen.
in reply to Spencer Callaghan

I think that depends on how your screen size and how you align them. Are you talking about the individual ones or the dynamic one?

I do not want to have #Mozilla put #AI into the #firefox browser like they already do.

This article shows me that they are heading in a direction I cannot tolerate:

Is there a privacy respecting #browser?

If you want a full engine... WebKit exists, its opensource. So is Blink.

As far as I'm concerned the thing which would make a new engine sustainable is radicle & informed simplification. Though yes, not being headed by an "AI" company would be one.

I'm not sure if the web's ready for that, but I'm not sure if it'll survive without it.

I think #Servo should be a viable option pretty soon.

Until then, there's always #LibreWolf or just using Firefox and turning off the AI crap.

They've seriously had a revolving door of leadership, but this letter from the new CEO actually gives me a little hope. Let's see if they actually follow through with wanting to be trusted, because they have done a LOT to erode their trust over the past few years.

The #UK government has ordered an independent review into foreign financial interference in UK politics in response to what it called the "shocking" case of Nathan Gill, the former leader of Reform UK in Wales.

Gill was jailed in November, after admitting to taking bribes for pro-russian interviews and speeches when he was a Member of the European Parliament (ΜΕΡ).

Damn, there's always some new #CrossBorderRail headache... 😡

New timetable for 2026 means a better connection from Berlin to Nuits-sous-Ravières

Or so I thought

07:06 Berlin-Strasbourg 12:51 on ICE 9590
13:05 Strasbourg-Dijon 15:11 on TGV 9879
15:35 Dijon-Nuits 16:21 on TER 17760

DB shows this to me:

in reply to Jon Worth

And I am travelling on Interrail

And the best site for Interrail reservations for anything in France or into France is normally Rail Europe

So how about a sort of split Interrail reservation? Book Berlin-Strasbourg and Strasbourg-Dijon separately?

Well for reasons I don't understand the Berlin-Strasbourg ICE cannot be reserved that way (pic 1) and you have to use the DB Passzuschlag system instead 🤷‍♂️ (€19, pic 2)

And then Strasbourg-Dijon was €10 with Rail Europe on the TGV (no screenshot)

in reply to Jon Worth

This is the sort of issue that worries me about the forthcoming ticketing and passenger rights reform with a proposal coming in February from the European Commission: are railway companies for trips like this going to just add extra connecting time, and make that obligatory, as that's easier for *them* than sorting out solutions to re-route passengers (that'd be better for passengers)?

One to keep an eye on!
