This one is for all of us people-pleasers. More good advice from Odin that can help to recognize bad relationships. When it comes to certain people, you can do absolutely everything right and they still won’t be happy with you. Don’t waste your effort on someone who will never appreciate it. Being a generous and giving person is a wonderful thing, and you deserve the reward of recognition and respect.
I think this verse can also apply to some modern corporate environments; employees working unpaid overtime, taking calls on their days off, only to be laid off when profits don’t keep growing exponentially. Your capitalist boss does not care about you. They would fire you in a second if it saved them a few pennies, so don’t burn yourself out by giving your all.
