Alright, time to move away from Firefox.
Anyone have recommendations of stuff they've been using for a while that has good options for Android cross compatibility? Ideally the browser is on both, but using a 3rd party to sync some stuff is fine by me.
I migrated to Vivaldi about 3 weeks ago and I'm hooked. Even using it as my main feed reader and mail client! It definitely has a lot of flexibility and appeal for power users.
The ONLY downside for me is you can't sync your email accounts across device installations. On the plus side, it does support Proton mail.
Been a joy to use overall.

Out today: "We start with candidates that are not known enough and therefore they struggle to get known enough to win. When you think about the fact that this election is taking place in 11 months or so—this is a lot of territory to cover in that amount of time." texasobserver.org/jasmine-croc…

Everyone Knows Jasmine Crockett. Could That Be a Good Thing?
Her critics would prefer a lesser-known candidate who can concoct a bipartisan pitch. But the Dallas congresswoman believes she’s starting “on second or third base.”Justin Miller (The Texas Observer)

in reply to Asta [AMP] • • •if it's possible for a corporation to betray its "roots", which it isn't, because most corporations seem to be fascists at heart regardless of which niche they grew out, Microsoft has certainly done it.
Your computer spies on you; you have to pay more money to actually use it; they're going to charge you money for your own CPU time if you use github. They're going "all in" on an "agentic OS" which does stuff for you. It's the opposite of a personal computer, which is what helped them grow. Just fucking trash, straight up garbage operating system.

corporations do not have beliefs. people have beliefs.
crediting inhuman machinery for having principles, and then betraying those principles, is a category error.

in reply to Asta [AMP] • • •yes, absolutely. there are companies from the early microcomputing days where it would at least make sense to say that the company is betraying its founders' principles, but Microsoft isn't one of them
.... though, mind, we struggle to think of a company from those days whose founders are still involved with running it, so, it would be a stretch
