@anneapplebaum

I stumbled across this in a post here on mastodon.
It joins a lot of Epstein-Bannon dots.
Worryingly so.

Warner Music Group Names Eric Wong EVP of Recorded Music byteseu.com/1633855/ #Canada #EricWong #WarnerMusicCanada #WarnerMusicGroup

"At the beginning of November, I ordered a 32GB DDR5 kit... and 3 weeks later those very same sticks of DDR5 are now listed for a staggering $330– a 156% increase in price from less than a month ago! ...how could this happen THIS quickly? Well, buckle up! I am about to tell you the story of Sam Altman’s Dirty DRAM Deal, or: How the AI bubble, panic, and unpreparedness stole Christmas"

"So what happened? Well, it all comes down to three perfectly synergistic events:

1. OpenAI executed two unprecedented #RAM deals that took everyone by surprise.

2. The #secrecy and size of the deals triggered full-scale panic buying from everyone else.

3. The #market had almost zero safety stock left due to #tariffs, worry about decreasing RAM prices over the summer, and stalled equipment transfers."

"Here is the uncomfortable truth #SamAltman is always loath to admit... #OpenAI is worried about losing its lead. The last 18 months have seen competitors catching up fast — Anthropic, #Meta, xAI, and specifically Google’s #Gemini 3... Everyone’s chasing training capacity. Everyone needs memory. DRAM is the lifeblood... Cutting supply to your rivals is not a #conspiracy theory. It’s a #business tactic as old as business itself."

“President Trump to address nation Wednesday night”

Are we placing bets on his topic? Invading Venezuela? Nuclear strike? More tariffs? Fewer tariffs? Attacking a dead celebrity?

That’s the thing about having an actual psychopath as president - you just never know.

I suppose the networks will carry this live since they traditionally give presidents air time when asked.

But this is Trump, after all, so they should prepare to be hoodwinked.

I'm going with a real longshot: After bloviating for a half hour about his imaginary accomplishments, he announces that he has pancreatic cancer and six months to live.

What a shot. Seems to be real, and seems to not be a composite.

On the left is the Andromeda galaxy, an object that is older than humanity and will last billions of years into the future. Andromeda (M31) is similar in size and shape to our own Milky Way Galaxy. On the right is a red sprite, a type of lightning that lasts a fraction of a second and occurs above violent thunderstorms. Red sprites were verified as real atmospheric phenomena only about 35 years ago. The tree in the center is a boab, which may live for as long as a thousand years. Boab trees grow naturally in Australia and Africa and are known for being able to store large amounts of water: up to 100,000 liters. The featured image was captured last month near Derby in Western Australia."

Really wet mosses. It's interesting how one species gets wet, flops down and looks like algae, and the other two remain spiky and erect. There's a yellowish lichen off to the right

RE: hci.social/@fasterandworse/115…

Firefox's killer feature is that it's not chromium. That's the pull. Nothing to do with tab grouping or UI design.

When your userbase is made of people who don't want bullshit, you are taking a risk with every new feature, especially the ultimate bullshit feature of AI

> Enzor-DeMeo spent 2025 racing to make Firefox a more compelling product, adding things like tab groups, while also trying to figure out how the browser should integrate with AI.

It's a web browser! It doesn't have to be compelling! It's for accessing compelling stuff!

in reply to Stephen Farrugia

I already had tab groups. They were called "windows". I'm more than a little confused by this feature and I've turned it off.
in reply to mcc

@mcc I use it at work. I open groups of tabs related to separate but similar tasks, put them in a group and process them as I'm able to. Don't really use it at home, but I appreciate and like the organization they provide.
