i'm looking for good *modern* anti-authoritarian, pro labor music.

(in other words, while the Wobblies are commendable, their hymns are not what I'm seeking right now.)

any recs?
(looking at you, the part of the fediverse with vinyl collections you haven't talked about in a while. now is your time to shine.)

My laser cutter pen plotter attachment is nearly finished, only issue now is that LaserGRBL assumes that a laser will turn off immediately and starts moving before the pen retracts 🤔

At least the problem is now software

The rally in #Boulder, #Colorado was joyous, peaceful and well-attended today.

The guy with the Epstein files assured me that I wasn’t in them.

Hmm... my 4U has been having serious chaotic problems since the ground fault issue in the house resulted in it losing power despite the ups a few times. I'm suspecting there was hardware damage.
Failed writes, random lock ups, AGONIZINGLY slow boot (and I'm comparing that to it normally taking much longer than not-a-server to boot), poor streaming performance, intermittant transcoding failures...
Yeah, something was damaged. Not entirely sure where to begin. I'll probably do a mem test

@WB2EEE I'm not familiar with spinrite. First question is... does it work on hardware raid?
in reply to Miakoda

You can use spinrite on the individual drives in a raid. If you used it on the raid it would exercise all the bits in the raid, but the raid would have to take care of the error itself, not spinrite. Spinrite reads defective sectors up to 2000 times and makes a statistical analysis of the reads to get the original data back.
Hard drives will read bad sectors over and over (delays) until they get a good checksum, spinrite will relocate those marginal sectors.

Geopolitics will cast a long shadow over the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympic Games

This winter’s Olympic games will not be a normal international sporting event. A cloud of geopolitical tension looms over the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, as well as the upcoming FIFA Men’s World Cup.

The tension escalated after Prime Minister Mark Carney’s speech at the World Economic Forum, where he spelled out his vision for a new world order for middle powers. It stood out starkly against United States President Donald Trump’s own speech at Davos, where he continued expressing his interest in acquiring Greenland from Denmark.

As a result, the 2026 Winter Olympics will likely disrupt the International Olympic Committee’s stated goal of sport bringing the world together under one banner in unique ways. Rather than muting political conflict, the Games may amplify it.

in reply to Andrew Pam

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the U.S. boycotted because of “international crimes.” It happened to Russia in a former Olympics. And I’m an American.

Look I just think if you're in the Epstein files as someone who had a meal with, hung out with, or got advice from that piece of shit, or went to his fucking island, the least you can do is resign in disgrace and slink away in eternal shame, I don't care what your party affiliation is.
